Gyrophants are distinguished by their long necks, which they use to forage high in the treetops, savannas and grasslands. They have very few predators but they are heavily preyed upon by Leebras and Carpetfangs. Their throats have special bony organs and pads that, when struck against each other, can ignite gaseous fumes from their lungs that allows them to expel fire for protection. Many grassland wildfires are caused by these animals, especially during particularly dry seasons.
