Information

Seawinders skim the ocean floor, combing for small crustaceans and ocean debris to consume. Their skin is rough and serrated; early scientists confused this species with reptiles. The large fans are used to sense morsels under the sand and are also used in elaborate mating dances. Their streamlined bodies allow them to hide in small crevasses when frightened.
