Information

Zipalas are diurnal herbivores that travel in distinct social groups of female herds, bachelor herds, and roaming territorial males. If one member of the herd feels threatened, the tips of its horns will begin to glow, alerting the rest of the herd. To confuse predators, they dash in different directions, discharging electrical energy through their body to increase their speed upward of 70 mph (113 kph). Glowing markings that leave a light trail are a side effect of this discharge.
