The Hydrolisk rapped his blunt claws on the edge of the wooden bench and his nostrils flared in agitation. "Look mate, I know what you think you saw, but that ain't... that ain't him, right? I know it. Feel it in my scales. Nor would he want anything like... this. Ain't right. "
You hear the tail end of a heated exchange as you enter the bar, the wooden saloon doors click-clacking behind you and betraying your presence. Nowhere, for once, seemed.... lively. Patrons standing around and drinking, the oft unused piano in the corner playing a lively tune and you began to wonder if you'd shown up at the right place.
The angry reptile waving his hands in an agitated manner at a haggardly dressed patron, with little regard for subtly was the only thing that hadn't seemed too out of place.
"I'm told you feel a lot of things-" The stranger cut himself short as you approached the bar. The Hydrolisk flashed you a strained, but appreciative smile as you approached, though it quickly faded as he turned his grizzled snout back to the stranger.
"Hey there Traveller. Can I get you something? Drink? Food? Bounty? Don't mind my friend here, he's just... moving on." Rick growled with a pointed look and jerking a thumb towards the door. "If you could unclench your purse strings - among other things - then maybe I'll consider putting your bounty up."
The stranger turned to you, straightening up as he ran a cursory look in your direction. You finally got a good look at him and well... there wasn't anything that memorable about him. His face, though sporting a charming smile was tired, most of his form was swaddled in a heavy dark coloured cloak, faded with dust and age. "Maybe. Let me just check with the, uh... target market." He winked and ran a hand through his dark hair, straightened up his dusty cloak and delicately drew out four small crystals from somewhere in his pockets. One blue, one green and one an orange colour, each pulsing with a strange energy. The last was lifeless, dull and a smoky grey colour.
"Let us start from the beginning, shall we?" He set the stones on the bench top, next to an odd device and tented his fingers as he flicked a heavy glance between you and them. "So, I believe I've stumbled upon the greatest arcane discovery of the century! Maybe. I believe I've found a way to refine the very elements themselves, down into these... essence crystals. You see, when you hook up these dull lifeless crystals like so..." He trailed off to fit the crystal in the device, like you would a battery. "And they begin to charge. It doesn't happens straight away, you need to spend some time there and you have to stay there until it looks like these ones. Only issue is, I'm just one man, and there's a lot of areas where I'd like them tested. That's where you come in Traveller."
"You still haven't explained how you plan to pay 'em bud." Rick's growled, as he slid a glass towards you.
"Yes, yes payment. Well, see, charging them has a fun little side effect, it draws some incredibly interesting creatures out from their little hidey holes. I could give you one for a couple of these. Or... I could... give you something more lucrative? My friend thinks this is inadequate payment but perhaps you disagree?"

- The prompt is simply "Explore". That is to say, there is no prompt. Do what you want! There will be a list below of prompts if you're struggling for ideas. You could even roll a dice if you'd like!
- All threads for this event must have been started in July 2021.
- These are not hunts. Do not submit them at the Saloon.
- You can have as many active threads as you like. Threads must contain a minimum of 5 posts (7 posts for cooperative roleplays) to produce a stone. At the end of every week, I require an activity check showing, a. Every rp you're in at that point in time and b. that you've made five posts in at least (1) single rp. If not, all posts earned during that week will be voided. I'll make reminders to post!
- Tag posts with some form of [Event] please! Not a hard rule, it's more for you, so you know it's not eligible for Hunts. But appreciated all the same.
- You'll earn 1 Crystal per 5 Posts.
- Prizes will be dispensed and redeemed at the end, though I will be posting the prize requirements here so you know what to work towards.

- As you charge up the Crystal, one of the following begins to happen:
- The environment... changes and not for the better. The skies grow dark, a howling wind picks up and a fierce tornado/tidal wave/earthquake begins to devastate the area.
- The Crystal rings out in a shrill tone. You seem fine but everything goes silent. And then there's a growl and you feel like you're being watched. Suddenly, as if all the animals in the area have gone mad, a stampede starts and you're the target of their anger!
- There's a thud. Then a crack. And another thud. Suddenly, a huge animal - beyond what you thought possible for that species - crashes down upon you, eyes mad. There's no reasoning with it, take it down or run!
- Mist swirls and gathers around you. Inky black and laced with stars. Ethereal humanoids accompanied by creatures with similarly patterned pelts and glowing eyes of twilight emerge, though they don't look like they're here to help you this time. They demand you destroy the device.
