War's Sorcery {P- Toxic & I}

Evening had swept in with a gentle breeze, though the day had been anything but calm. The war was steadily moving closer to the elegant manor of white marble and granite, which stood on a small hill that now overlooked the newest front of the war. Some parts of the beautifully manicured hedges hadn't survived the fighting well, shot full of pock mark empty patches where bullets had slammed through their defenses. Likewise many of the stone statues in the garden and the entrancing fountain, had fared no better during the heavy afternoon fighting.

Inside the manor on the hill, the family which resided there had stayed mostly inside. Tonight however the servants had been sent away, while the family tried to keep things as normal as possible. Seven year old Kichi sat curled in the massive overstuffed chair in the study, reading his way through a massive book of magical practice. While five year old Anna sat on the floor of the east parlor playing with her dolls. Both children mostly oblivious to the fears of their parents, and to the danger just beyond the gardens. Quietly in the reading room Jin and Melia Kasun sat on one of the sofas speaking softly over a cup of tea, their worries about staying in the home longer. Both feared the wards along the property boarder would not hold, that the fighting could spill into their home any moment.

That fear was realized soon than either could have imagined, when the stars had become visible in the sky above and the darkness had grown a deeper shade of night. It started with voices outside, too close to the door. Melia had hurried to gather both Anna and Kichi, as Jin had gone to hopefully speak reason to the soldiers outside prowling their land. As the three hurried across the home to a hidden door beyond the dinning room. "Hush now." Melia told the two, as she tucked them inside the hidden panel. "Kichi, look after your sister. And neither of you come out of here." She took her daughter's face between her palms, and kissed little Anna's forehead first. "I love you both, very much." She next took her son's face, and kissed his forehead, before closing the wooden panels again and plunging them into pitch blackness.

Outside the hidden room and tunnel system, voices rose and shouts echoed. Kichi listened to the footsteps thunder across the wooden floors above them and on this level. His father shouted, his mother cried in deep sobs. Beside him Anna whimpered softly, her favorite pink and white bunny clutched tightly in her arms. Unsure of what else he should do, Kichi reached over and wrapped an arm around her shoulder drawing her to him. As she quieted Kichi heard the dark voices of the soldiers, muffled but threatening. His father's tone became harsher, more angry, as Kichi listened. His own fear of being found hiding was shoved down as he tried to be brave for Anna, somehow managing to not shake as he listened to the voices and footsteps go further away.

He might have breathed out a sigh, had his mother not suddenly screamed. Terror quivered through him, and shiver ran down his spine at the sound. In a moment of blind action, Kichi lead Anna further back into the hidden tunnels that ran down below the house, and into a side room. "Stay here, Anna. Miss Floppy will protect you." He told his sister who stared up at him silently. "I have to help Mom and Papa." With that said, Kichi closed the small door to hide her away. He rushed back to the hidden panel, in time to hear his father's raised voice and the crack of some kind of magic. It was distant, outside he thought. Silently slipping out into the dinning room, he closed the panel behind him.

Unable to make himself run, Kichi crept along the edge of the room until his found the front door standing open. Outside he could see his mother laying on the ground, something red spreading across her chest that reminded him of paint. His father stood just a few feet away, a ball of flame hovering above his closed fist. As Kichi watched in amazement his father tossed the ball of fire at the line of soldiers wearing white and red uniforms. At the same time the soldiers raised their strange metal sticks, and a loud thunder like boom echos through his head. His father drops down to his knees on the ground after this sound, a weaker fire ball building above his hand. In that moment when time slowed down, Kichi rushed out beside his father as the men raised their sticks once more. "Papa!" He felt like he was flying as he ran, seeing his father's eyes go wide.

In an instant Kichi managed to reach his father's side just as the second thunder clap echoed, washed in horror as his father fell to the ground and the ball of flames went out. Laughter issued all around him, while the same red paint spread out across his father's body. Something inside Kichi bubbled up, something hot, in that moment. He turned towards the men, not realizing he too had been shot. The fireball was small, tiny compared to his father's, but Kichi managed to throw it at them with everything he had. His legs became like jelly after, and he slid to the ground. His vision darkened some, while he heard several voices head back into the house. "Momma?" He voice croaked, as he rolled on his side listening to the pounding noise he heard. She didn't move, though he couldn't see if she did at all in the dark blanket over his eyes.

Faking smiles and confidence

War time was an especially busy time for all the many gods of this world, and every world. All throughout time, in every era, there were disagreements that became conflicts and eventually became war. Eras of peace never lasted long, no matter how many souls said that they wished for such. Someone, somewhere always wished for war. It took many lives but, for some, it was a profitable venture, and lives were disposable.

In some worlds, the gods ignored the plight of the poor ungodly creatures. But for Kazuo, that was not the case. He survived only with the aid of the creatures whose prayers he heard humming in his head, always, so he could not go on to ignore them. The strange god was not so powerful that he could resurrect the dead, that was beyond his hands, but there were many things that he could do. Countless lives had been saved simply because he stepped in before they were met with mortal danger.'

Kazuo thought that many years of experience with the horrors and tragedies of the world and the wars fought all across it had left him prepared for anything. Dead bodies lying in the streets, the dirt, some even blown to bits, they were not unfamiliar sights. The magnificently blond haired man wore no uniform, only flowing robes, as he strode through the areas that had become a battlefield with ease and grace unlike many others. He was entirely unconcerned, even when bullets or blades came his way, or when he stepped around long since dead corpses. When hearing a prayer that he could answer, there was no choice but for him to make such an appearance.

It wasn't a prayer which had drawn him onto half destroyed grounds of an elegant manor, but a woman's scream, accompanied by gunfire, as he had been passing by in the distance. Or, perhaps, it was a prayer of one of the occupants. Taking off with blinding speed, feet not even touching the ground, he navigated his way toward the gunfire, but it seemed that the god had arrived too late. He could sense the soldiers in the distance, inside the manor, as he stopped to take in the scene just outside of it. Man, woman, and child were all drenched in blood. Oh, but wait. The boy still had life in him, but it was fading out. It was too late for treatment. He would die.

Kazuo hesitated for a moment, the world seeming to slow all around him, and it really did. He approached the young child, eyes fixated on him. Over all these years, he was familiar with scenes of death and destruction, but a small child, killed in cold blood, he wasn't prepared for that.

He knelt down, raising the dying boy with one arm so that he was sitting up with the support, although he had already gone limp. Eyes searched the boy's face for a moment longer, before doing something even unexpected by his own self; Kazuo rose his free hand toward his mouth and bit into it, hard, tearing into the flesh. He cringed at the pain he caused himself, but the pain was nothing. The blood began to seep from the fresh wound, and he brought it to the boy's face, letting the blood drip into his mouth. Drinking the blood of the god was the only way for him to be saved.

It would work within moments to heal his wounds, making it as if they never existed in the first place.

Alone in the small room, Anna pray desperately for a tiny child. Terror ran through her veins as she whispered words she'd learn before her fragile little hands shaking as she tightly clutched her bunny to her chest. Outside she could hear the muffled screams and shouts, followed by faint laughter. Each second she prayed, tears streaming down her tiny cheeks, felt like forever.

He floated in the darkness, weightless as it surrounded him. Kichi had no idea what had happened, or how he'd gotten here. He tried to remember, pulling at his mind to recall those moments. It seemed however in the darkness that his thoughts were slipping away while he floated. He couldn't feel his body anymore, like cold numbness had spread through him.

Just as he was about to give into the numb feeling that pulled at the edge of his mind to sleep, Kichi felt another pull. In a blink he felt himself falling rapidly, like he'd been far above the ground. Crashing very forcefully back into his own body, Kichi found that he couldn't even open his eyes. After another moment his chest began to burn, forcing his small lung to gasp a breath down. What had happened to him?

Slowly his eyes blinked open, at first unseeing as he stared up at the sky above him. For the life of him Kichi couldn't figure out why he was laying outside in the dark, he was sure Papa and Mama would be mad at him for it though. Then as the world slowly came into focus for his little eyes, Kichi was sure someone else was there with him. In fact he was sure that person was holding him, but it didn't look like either of his parents. His body was still sleepy and his mind struggled to fight it, as he looked at the man holding him. "M..my...sister." Those few words took so much effort for his small lungs to get out, that Kichi lost his battle to keep his eyes open and slid back into the darkness of rest.

When all was silent and still outside, Anna carefully cracked open the hidden door and crept out into the wrecked dinning room, her bunny still tightly clutched in her tiny arms. The silent prays still running in her mind, along side blind terror. It wasn't until she finally peeked out the broken front  door that the true horrors set in. Her parents lay like broken dolls on the ground, unmoving despite her soft sobs. Her brother however shifted, his eyelids moving rapidly while he lay there.

Nine Years Later

Finally finished moving his few things back into the shared dorm room, Kichi sighed as he glanced over to the empty bed on the other side of the room. That was where Zaril was suppose to bunk, but due to some family stuff Kichi's only sorta friend was not going to be back for this year. He couldn't say he was terribly saddened by the fact, but it was going to be a very quiet year. Being the day before the first day of classes, he had no good reason to stay up late tonight. Instead Kichi wandered down to the student cafeteria and got himself something to eat, before returning to his room once more. Anna was in the first year dorms, and likely busy making new friends already. In many ways Kichi envied his younger sister, her ease with people he could never begin to master.

As he laid back on his bed, Kichi's mind wandered back to the night their parents were killed. He couldn't explain why it did that from time to time, or why he was always so sure that someone else had been there that night. Anna claimed she'd never seen anyone else out there with him, then again Anna believed in some crazy things. Some nights Kichi still woke from that true nightmare, with the strange feeling that someone had been in his room, even touched him. It made him unease, but Kichi assumed it was the nightmare causing this. When he asked, Anna sometimes said she'd seen someone else in the room. As he thought about the strange things of his life, Kichi slowly drifted off to sleep in his still made bed.

There was never a place that Kichi could go where Kazuo could not find him. Although the young man was not at all aware of it, the two shared a bond that could not be severed so long as both still existed in this, and any other, world. They were linked, Kichi practically a part of the god, after consuming his blood those years ago. He still remained as he was, hadn't gained any strange powers because of the god's doing, but the scent of the god was carried with him and would remain throughout his lifetime.

It was not all that long after Kichi had fallen asleep, that the god slipped into the room through the window. Although it had been been locked shut, it was mere child's play for one such as he to open it. Kazuo had not sensed anyone else in the room, but his eyes still shifted toward the empty bed, in the event he had missed something. Determining that it was safe to proceed, he approached the young man's sleeping form, able to see him clearly, in spite of the darkness. He didn't even make the faintest of sounds.

Standing at his bedside, Kazuo watched him for a long moment as he slept. "You're going to catch a cold like that," he very quietly mused to himself. When he finally made a move, it was to awkwardly cover up the young man by flipping the sides of the blankets up over him, essentially rolling him up in the covers, though without moving him. It was odd, but he would stay warm, at least.

Then, Kazuo slowly leaned in and reached out with one hand, gently touching just his fingertips to Kichi's cheek. The warmth always seemed so inviting to the god, whose body had long since lost its warmth in his weak, sickly state. He couldn't resist any longer, and he leaned entirely in, bringing his mouth down on his, kissing him while he slept.

His mind for some reason once more slid back to the dark days of his past, slowly replaying the events that had unfolded for him that night. This time however it was a very different kind of dream, one that felt more like a memory than a dream. Instead of being knocked out during the fight between his father and the soldiers, Kichi saw himself take a direct hit as if he were watching the whole scene like a spectator than a participate. He saw blood leaking from wounds all over his whole body, and his broken younger self lying still in the stages of dying. As he tried to process what he was seeing, Kichi became aware of someone standing over his younger self. It was the oddest thing he'd ever though he knew it had to just be his mind playing tricks, he didn't remember anything like this after all.

His mind was muddled as he started to wake from such a strange place in his head, when Kichi got a real shock. The sense first that someone was standing over him, which he wrote off completely now that Anna was at the school. Likely she had come up to his room expecting to find him awake, she probably just wanted to talk or something. Weird enough as he began to wake up, he realized he was warm. That was odd since Kichi knew he'd gone to sleep on top of his blankets, so how did he get wrapped up in it? This wasn't the first time over the years he'd woken up wrapped up, or with something different from how he'd gone to sleep. That was the only reason his foggy mind didn't in the least find it unusual, while it struggled back from the bizarre dream. However the lips on his own did register as he couldn't even begin to understand what was happening.

Without a hint of warning, Kichi went from nearly drifting right back into a dream state to wide awake. His eyes snapped open completely, and he found himself looking at nearly the same outline as in his dream. His sluggish mind couldn't still process what was happening, he blinked several time and pulled in a sharp breath. It was definitely not Anna, but he wondered for a brief moment if it wasn't Zaril. That made things far more complicated things beyond what he needed. Instead he stared wide eyed at the figure standing over him, trying to get a handle on his racing thoughts.

Kazuo had only just pulled away, still lingering closely and considering going in for a second kiss, when Kichi's eyes shot open. The god was equally surprised, having sworn that the other man had been sound asleep, and abruptly returned to his full height. Never had he woken up before. Not once. Worse than that, Kazuo hadn't even sensed the change, which only served to point out just how weak he had really become. It was something so simple and, yet, he had missed it entirely.

His own thoughts were running circles around and around his head, scrambling for what to do next. Part of him wanted to vanish from sight, to flee, now that he had been found out, but another part, the part that desired to stay alive, kept him rooted in place. If he ran away now, would he ever be able to come back? It seemed quite unlikely.

Finally, he crossed his arms over his chest and he settled for relaying his previous words, since Kichi was now awake to hear them. "You're going to catch a cold if you keep making a habit of falling asleep without covering up." Yes, he was actually scolding him, in spite of the awkward situation in which they had found themselves.

As Kichi laid there trying to get his thoughts enough under control to speak, he heard the unfamiliar voice speak. It wasn't Zaril, that much he knew, but something about it made his mind slow down a little more. Still his mind raced like a hurricane and full strength, as he continued to stare. "I-I didn't mean to fall..." He stopped blinking rapidly as he tried to figure out why he was quicker to explain himself, than to question the man in his room. "I...just..." In the darkness of the room, all he could tell was that the man was about his own height, though slim. Not to say that Kichi himself was in great shape himself, spending most of his time in the library as opposed to outside in sports activities. Still the man standing there looked far too thin, which Kichi couldn't explain why it bothered him.

Slowly he sat up, noting for the first time that he was still fully dressed. That also was his normal practice, to sleep in his clothing. He didn't move to stand though, instead pulled the blanket around himself as he sat on the edge of the bed. "I-Who?" His mind spun as he tried to grasp what question he most wanted answered. So many things he wanted to ask, so many questions that spun and fought to be the first out of his mouth. His mouth opened and closed several times, though his eyes never left the stranger's face. Part of his mind was back in the manor, remembering something that his mind had hidden from him. The other part of his mind struggled to make more sense out of this before he asked anything.

Well, okay, things were all right. Kazuo half-expected Kichi to panic, once the realization set in that there was perfect stranger in his room in the middle of the night. The words that spilled from his mouth, as he tried to make sense of things, actually made the god smile delightfully. He was amusing, in an endearing way. Without him completely panicking, Kazuo was able to reign in his own frantic thoughts. So he'd been discovered, he might as well take the opportunity presented before him.

Rather than continuing to stand right before him, in a way that could be imposing, Kazuo shifted, looking around the room so as to locate the light switch. When he did, he crossed the room toward it. Although he was sickly and weak, compared to those years ago, each step still held strange, unnatural grace. As he moved, he spoke, to somewhat answer the vague question presented to him. "You are Kichi, Kichirou Kasun. I am Kazuo."

He flicked the light on, then, and turned back to face Kichi, revealing his entire appearance. The clothes he wore now where no longer robes, having been replaced with clothes that made him stand out much less; Dark pants, a nice, button up shirt, a long, dark coat, and nice looking shoes completed the look. His blond hair framed his face on either side, not quite reaching his shoulders, while the back must have been a bit longer, as it was pulled back into a short ponytail. Although he was thin, worn out, and pale, his eyes were still vivid and bright, almost seeming out of place with the rest of him. He would have been considered handsome by most typical standards, though it was somewhat diminished, with his sickly appearance. The one thing that Kichi might notice and be alarmed by was that Kazuo's body did not cast a shadow; at this point, it would have been a waste of precious energy.

"I suppose you have no memory of me... but that is fine." He started walking back toward the bed where Kichi was perched. "I can remedy that, if you would so allow me."

At the moment he got the answer to his question, at first Kichi was puzzled by it while he tried to sort out his thoughts. Of course he knew who he was, then his mind replayed his own words and Kichi had to admit he sounded silly. "Okay, Kazuo. Pleasure to meet you." His mouth went while his mind tried to figure out how the man knew who he was. Sure the name Kasun was known, considering how his uncle's royal blood was known and all. That didn't fully explain how his lesser known nephew would have been found, nor what someone would want with him. If they wanted to kidnap anyone, Briyne would be the choice being the little princess and all. He doubted his uncle would pay for his or his sisters return, after all they were just his less successful very dead brother's kids.

Reigning in his mind better, Kichi started working with his logic as the man made his way across the room. Stranger in his room, probably someone who either worked for or went to the school. Easy enough to puzzle out, since the school had special wards to keep unwanted outsiders out. The man's movements were graceful enough for Kichi to wonder if he wasn't one of those with money and privilege, or at the very least fae. While he wasn't totally a fan of either, Kichi admitted in his own head that he'd rather the man be fae. Still while he knew that meant that Kazuo would be stunning in looks, he was not prepared for when the man turned on the light.

A small gasp came from his lips when the man turned around, it took a few minutes for his mind to catch up. While he was more than stunning in many ways, the blonde man calling himself Kazuo in a way looked sick. Still that wasn't the reason for his reaction, but rather what smacked him like a stone. Kazuo's eyes slammed a memory back to the forefront of his mind, with enough force that Kichi couldn't believe it had never really come to him before. Instead of saying anything at first, Kichi simply scooted over a bit on the bed to make room for Kazuo to sit down as well. The recognition would have shown on his normally stoic face, as it came rushing back looking up into those eyes all those years ago. "You...you were there. That night, you were outside the house...with me." His voice was barely above a whisper, both awe and pained. "I thought...you were just a dream. They said we were alone when..." He let the sentence drop as he realized where his mind was going, back into the darkness of his worst nightmares.

Seeing the recognition play out on Kichi's face as he watched him brought the god an unexpectedly strong sense of relief. If he was able to remember him then, perhaps, this delicate matter would go over easier. Kazuo could actually be saved. He allowed himself to begin to believe it was a real possibility, against his better judgement.

Kazuo nodded his head. "You died that day. Or, should I say, you were on the threshold of death." It was just as much of a surprise that the young man made room for him, but Kazuo gladly took the silent invitation. He moved to sit on the bed beside him, careful, though, not to get too close. "Your sister, she was screaming out in her head. Desperately wishing for everything to be all right. But your parents were already gone. I could not help them. That is beyond me. Only you." He was well aware that hearing these words, mentioning his parents, had to hurt, but Kazuo thought it best to explain himself.

"But before she came to find you, before you came to, I had already vanished from sight. I had began to resign myself to fact that I was now going to die."

A wide range of feelings as he was told this, trying to find some logical explanation. "You died that day." those words felt like they echoed in the room, loudly to his ears as if they had sat in some deep silence. His rational mind refused to accept this, while some deeper part of him couldn't push it away as fantasy. He sat staring at Kazuo wide eyed, blinking the only movement he made as he continued to stare in shock. His mind couldn't even form words, though Kazuo seemed to continue to speak from what sounded like a great distance away. It was more than Kichi could be expected to take in, as he allowed his mind to turn the very idea of it around a couple of times. What did he really remember of that evening, of what happened after? More importantly to him, what did Anna remember about it? She would likely have had more answers than she realized, but it was just as traumatic of an event for her.

It did strike a cord, but one that had been struck so often he was use to the pain it cause. He knew their parents were gone, that there would have been no help for them. It hadn't stopped Kichi from lashing out at the various gods and goddess of Evelon, in fact he'd shunned religion all together in the wake of that long night. Now it caused the barest flicker of remorse in his chest, easily pushed back down where it belonged, out of mind. Instead of focusing on the pain he still worked to wrap him mind around the fact that he too almost left Anna, that she'd come close to being alone if what Kazuo said was true. "I had began to resign myself to fact that I was now going to die." Kichi's mind snapped back to the here and now, out of his own mind. He frowned at Kazuo for a moment, allowing his thoughts to catch up with everything.

"Die? Why would you die?" If all he'd done was save Kichi's life, why would that condemn him to death? Now he was questioning a lot of things, unfortunately all at once, and it was starting to give him a headache. "Why would someone want to kill you for saving me?" He was unfortunately still assuming that at worst Kazuo was some kind of other supernatural, it was the only thing that prevented his understanding of the situation.

Bottles smashed, I raised my hand
How can you all even stand?
And why is there joy in this poison? Oh
Faking smiles and confidence
Driving miles to capture this excitement
I can't take anymore

You're never gonna get it
I'm a hazard to myself
I'll break it to you easy
This is hell, this is hell
You're looking and whispering
You think I'm someone else
This is hell, yes
I am in hell

Re: War's Sorcery {P- Toxic & I}

As Kichi presented his question, frowning at him, the god responded with a melancholy smile. Kichi was, in no way, at fault. "It's not that someone wants to kill me for saving you," he reassured him. Kazuo's voice was low, only loud enough to be heard.

"Pardon me, for this may not be all too pleasant, but... let me show you what happened that day." As he spoke these words, he reached out with one hand. Kichi may have noticed that his arm was shaking, but Kazuo paid his own physical state no mind. His hand came to rest against the side of the other man's face. With the contact formed, visions from his memory played out, so that Kichi could experience it first hand. He was seeing the event from the past from the god's perspective. The sights, sounds, even the smells, were all experienced.

It started, when Kazuo heard a woman's scream, the scream that came from Kichi's mother. The environment was somewhere in the neighborhood where they had lived, but ruined from the battles that spilled into it. There was an annoying hum of voices all clamoring together in the back of Kazuo's mind, but they were more quiet than the sounds directly around him. Kichi would have heard them, too, experiencing everything that Kazuo was at the time.

The scene moved, as Kazuo had began to move. There was the outside of the manor and, up and over the walls Kazuo went in a single bound, revealing the grounds of the manor and, soon, the three bodies, drenched in blood. There were Kichi's mother and father, and him, too, as a small child, compared to now. The prayer his sister spoke, it played out in Kazuo's head, her voice loud and clear, unlike the others. Looking upon the bodies, especially of the child, he felt a horrific dread and terrible sadness, which now, Kichi sense, too.

"I have the power to answer almost any prayer, almost anything you could imagine, when I am nearer to my full strength. That is the purpose of my existence. But even I have my limitations. Under normal circumstances, I am not able to bring someone back from the dead." Kazuo's voice could be heard, over everything else, quietly explaining himself throughout.

From Kazuo's perspective, Kichi could see as the god moved toward his limp body. The scene played out, he able to sense to pain the god felt as he bit into his own flesh, and was able to see his own face as Kazuo looked upon it. He watched as the god fed him his blood. And, soon, he could sense the same thing Kazuo did, that he was healed, that he was returning back to life. The memory sharply ended there, the god retracting his hand quickly, before his thoughts from that time spilled into Kichi.

"I can only do it once, for the purpose of keeping the person most precious to me alive and well. Sharing my blood with someone, it makes them closer to the same being that I am, granting them a life and existence like my own. In doing so, it will heal that person, if they are on the brink of death. But it comes with a cost."

"We're really only intended to share our blood with our loved one, the one person in this world that we have no desire to live without. Sharing our blood, it's a sign of a bond that cannot be broken. In doing so, we then need that person, in order to survive. Being with them, having a physical connection, creates the energy we need to stay alive, to use our powers, everything. Without that energy, we fade out and eventually die and, as you were only a child, saving you was much like a death sentence. So I'm dying. I have been, for a long time, only hanging on by a thread."

At first Kichi found himself even more confused as he listened Kazuo, what in the world was going on. He'd never imagined himself so important as to warrant all of this. The next thing he knew Kazuo was reaching out a shaking hand towards him, and a cool hand touched his face. His vision went dark, and then swam again with images and voices.

His eyes widened in shock, and some part of his mind that was his own felt the grief and pain of looking at his mother's crumpled form. He'd managed to forget so much of that day, including the images that had caused his young mind pain. Now however he was face to face with it all again, and a wave washed over him of emotions at the sight. After a couple of seconds he managed to push it back down, and let his eyes take in the rest of area. His own body lay on the ground, blood starting to pool out from him. For the life of him Kichi couldn't remember that, he didn't remember being badly hurt. In fact he'd always believed he'd found his parents after the soldiers had left, and passed out. Now however he was faced with the truth, Kichi couldn't figure out how to handle what he was seeing.

He could hear Anna's voice, but it sounded so small and soft. Above it he could hear Kazuo's voice explained something to him, and the more he listened the more Kichi couldn't make sense of in his mind. The pain, the knowledge of what happened lurking just beyond his mind, it all confused him worse. Then he was back in his own body, blinking rapidly at Kazuo. The words Kazuo now spoke swam along side the images in his mind. "So you...you chose to save me, and..." He was left staring at Kazuo. Now that he really looked him over, Kichi could see the weakness in his body. In fact as Kichi looked him over, Kazuo's words sank in that the man really was dying. He didn't know what it might mean for him, or even if he could help Kazuo. Instead of asking Kichi stayed quiet, his mind trying figure out what he might be able to do.

It seemed that the projection of Kazuo's memories did not negatively affect Kichi. He hadn't panicked or swatted his hand away; he allowed things to play out as they should. It was a relief to the god. However, he still searched the young man's face, looking for any signs of pain or discomfort. He was handling well, although the god wondered if he was handling it too well. Just how well was he at hiding his own feelings? At bottling them up? It was worrisome.

"I have been watching over you ever since," he completed Kichi's words, although it was likely not the answer he was actually looking for. "And good thing, too, since you have the habit of not covering yourself up when you fall asleep." The number of times he probably protected the other man from a cold was far too many to count.  "It wouldn't do, either, for the person I saved to come to harm in some other way."

"Oh, and dying. I suppose I've been doing that, too. There isn't a day where I do not grow weaker, as I am usually separated from you." He would have been long since dead, though, had he not made these visits during the night. "Without you close by, it is impossible for me to survive much longer."

Kichi didn't think about it, he simply continued to keep his emotions pushed down where they wouldn't interfere with his ability to think. He was so use to doing, that it didn't bare a second thought to how healthy it might be for him. In fact the god may have noticed they he didn't do as much to take care of himself as he did to take care of his sister. Instead he simply nodded, "So when Anna has said..." Okay that was weird, to think that Anna might have from time to time no been dreaming or imagining things. Instead he was given an unusual  answer, one that he at least had the good manner to look sheepish about. "Well...I mean...it's not really like I mattered. Not to my aunt and uncle, at least. I guess." He gave Kazuo an odd look, one that conveyed his confusion once more.

Kichi wasn't use to being needed or of any value to anyone, let alone someone with actual power. He allowed Kazuo to continue on uninterrupted as he tried to figure out how he would have been worth being saved that way, or what the god could find useful from him. He wasn't great at magic, though he excelled at magical theory. However he was startled by the admission that being separated from himself was causing this. "Why would it cause you to become weaker, die, to be away from me?" He was analyzing this all as best as his seventeen year old mind could. What could this all mean? He was a nobody, what could he possibly do.
