More seriously--sentence limits for big plot RP things to earn points (like with the Battle Points) seems OK to me, but in more freeform RP? You yourself, Shrewd, have said that you can't police every thread to check for these kinds of things. But wouldn't putting a new rule in place mean you'd have to do the exact same aount of policing? To enforce it? It seems to me it would all end up ultimately relying on the "report post" button again, but you've already said that you guys don't look at it much? (I think. My apologies if that's totally wrong. :<)

Yes, I did say that. xD It's... not really that we don't have time. More like.. since we now manage everything now (including art), we leave those tidbits behind the scenes. Just now and again do we check topics and then, oh hay, report icon on this topic.

Admittedly, we really need to put this up... We're planning on putting up fees (by KS%) for every minor offenses (or whatever xD). So if you break the 3 sentences rule and you're caught, you're going to lose, like... 5% of your KS. Or something small. If you don't include parents in your Kuhna trade note, if you don't notify Draiz of a trade... etc. Little things. Because really, giving an official warning because, GASP, you didn't tell me the parents of your digital cat pet, is ridiculous in practice.

So I think... keep the rule simple. Keep it simple so we Mods can judge from a glance, or let's omit it completely. And if someone reports something, you can PM us to make sure we all get a notice (so we don't see it weeks later).

This may sound ridiculous and I know alot of people hate it when people post three measly sentences and receive the same amount of ks as someone who posted nine paragraphs, but shouldn't we be able to trust each other not to abuse the three post rule? *Hides*

And for me, I love writing the biggest posts I can outside training threads, shouldn't reading the persons reply/admiring your own post be it's own reward? [/cheesy-ness] I'd rp like crazy even if we had to earn ks some other way. In my opinion we should get rid of the five posts rule /obvious but keep the 3 posts rule the way it is.

I think changing the rules to tell people that anything below 3 sentences can earn you a KS fee, but that beyond that, we trust people to post reasonable replies... Would that be fine? Just say that we don't have a rule per say, but that we expect reasonable replies. Let me tell you, replies that /look/ short can even have more than 3 sentences.

^ This doesn't contradict the 3-sentence rule, but it does look very... mediocre. RPing is all about giving material to your partner, which this post doesn't offer. If you're by yourself (Self-RP) that's fine... but with a partner, you should make sure you include material for a good reply.

To those who mentioned being writers and etc, you have to keep in mind Evelon isn't to turn youngsters into writers. It's all for RPing, which is for fun. We want to modify the rule because we don't want people to RP with people who give absolutely no reply-material.

About 'turning youngsters into writers'; the goal isn't necessarily to turn them into first rate novelists or writers, but mostly, it's just for their own good. The more a person develops their writing skills on a roleplaying site, the more likely they'll have people who are interested in RPing with them. I'm not condemning people who might struggle with writing with more than, for example, a paragraph per post, but improving as a writer certainly helps a person to broaden their options when it comes to partners.

In regards to having a rule which requires 'reasonable replies', while that may work, it might be somewhat difficult to arbitrate exactly what constitutes a 'reasonable' post. It would be hard to argue against someone who thinks that a three-sentence, single-lined post is 'reasonable', as there's no other concrete rule that states that it isn't allowed.

It sounds good to me ^^ I like the three sentence rule, (it gives me something to go on while self rping) but yes, I also like that idea, it's more free form as such. (Incase you couldn't pick it out through my waffle, I like the idea and think it should be the new roleplay ruling)

Finally got around to reading all the posts here. Too many, so I'm not going to address each and every one of them individually. XD Anyways, I'm going to be ruining a bit of a surprise by saying this(seems we're horrible at keeping things secret since you guys always bring up something similar to it and it needs to be addressed) but...

We do plan on having two areas specifically for training. One in Lambastia and one in Barakka. If the 3 sentence rule is bumped up to 5, we would keep this area as needing only 3 per post, but it would come with a condition. In exchange for being able to post less, you wouldn't be able to earn any KS in the training grounds. I was going to say you'd only earn 1 KS per post instead of 3, but I can't do that. I looked through the settings and tried to find a way to do it, but I can't.

Anyways, this is completely up to the users and also dependent on the final choice of the poll. The way I see it though is that users trying to do those quick training posts are after the levels, not the money. With fewer posts required in the actual training grounds you would be able to get your levels, even if you many not earn hundreds of KS for a really quick roleplay.
