What should we do with Elemental Area Attacks?

The only ones using AP are the ones that weren't static to begin with. The AP system is simply a way to manage those type of traits, as they always were more of attacks than bonuses. Also, I don't like the idea of having Pyro, which only does 5 damage, take up all your AP at the beginning level. In the past people have had more than one attack that is set up just like Pyro. It's not so hard to come by when you have a pet that has more than one element. My suggestion, which I talked to Shrewd in the irc about because I wasn't sure how long my laptop's battery would last to be able to post an actual post in the mod area, is for us to slightly increase the AP costs that we had decided on. Just a 1-2 AP increase. Max AP at level 1 is set to 10, and we currently have attacks that cost anywhere from 1-7 AP. I know you probably think the elemental attacks that do a base damage of 5 may seem as though they're killer, but they aren't on the high end of the cost because in all honesty there are traits/attacks that will screw your pet over way easier than those. With this increase that would put the base 5 damage attacks at costing 4-5 AP, which would mean that between level 1 and 5 they could only be used twice. Yeah at level one or two it's possible that this could kill your pet rather quickly. Those attacks aren't an instant hit though. If they miss you, they still use up that AP. If we made Pyro and the like cost 10 AP the higher traits would have to cost somewhere around 14, which would leave some traits un-useable until you're at least level 5 or higher.

Okay, we've implemented the 2 point increase for AP and have increased the Endurance of all pet species by 5. This means that the new system is almost ready for release (although Shrewdie will be holding tournaments to test it). The only thing left for us to decide is whether to change Traits with 'static bonuses' (such as Powerful Jaws granting a +3 Offense bonus) and make them percentage-based bonuses. This would help with those higher level battles, as there would be greater bonuses. However, there would be math required, and so I'm wondering again what you, the users, would think.

I'm all for percentages....since the mods calculate that at the beginning of the battle and I don't have to do it? o3O; I suck at math, ha ha ha...

Also: Powerful Strike = Super-overpowered new trait? What the hey, if this thing stays like that for that low AP cost, I have to apply for that with...all my pets? ODO;

Yeah, I really didn't understand why someone would use the Elemental Area attacks if they hurt you and your allies =/ And then we have the absorption traits...

They would be much better if they didn't hurt the user. As for your allies, perhaps they could still get hit, kind of like the move Earthquake in Pokemon? That might be a little more strategic.
