To be honest, for the longest time I thought 'fed by' meant just that. That if you attack an Element pet with an attack that 'feeds' its Element, the Element pets gets health back, cause the attacking element FEEDS the other Element.

Though we could always have Traits that could allow this, regaining health is hit by same Element (i.e., Fire pet hit by Pyro would regain 25% of Pyro's damage [so 1 point out of the 5 base damage]).

@Thunder: In that case, yes, you would. The reasoning behind that rule is that your own elemental power is being absorbed by the attack and making it more powerful.
And a lot of people seem to think that (about elements not being very effective against themselves), but that's not how it works. XD; Even in Pokemon, not all elements are like that.
The +25% would still apply. It's just like STAB in Pokemon: A Normal-type using Tackle on, say, a Fire-type, would still get STAB for using a Normal attack, even though Fire is neither resistant to nor weak against Normal (i.e. Tackle does 'normal' damage to a Fire-type).

@Trait Idea: That is interesting. o 3o

I see where you're coming from. It makes sense. And in Pokemon, I think it's only the "really Element-y" attacks that do that? Like Grass, Water, Fire, Electricity. I know Flying doesn't do it, and Dragon and Ghost are super effective against themselves. I'm not necessarily against this rule, I just find it interesting.

I generally think that way as I recall from Kingdom hearts 358/2 Days that whenever I was hit by a fire attack when I was playing Axel the damage I took was simply the base damage. Throughout the original Final fantasy games, if you were a Red Mage you did not get the boosted damage from attacks that were your element. Again, this is only my experience and it may differe greatly from the majority of RPG games others have played. I've also played many PC games and the same has usually been what I experience. Pokemon is the only game I have personaly played that follows the +25%.

Yeah, it's mostly the (what used to be) Physical types that aren't resistant to themselves.

Anyway, I guess I should mention that the rule that was actually being contested here is going to be taken down since the mods that do the battles are confused by it and the people that actually wrote an opinion mostly agreed it should go.

Thank you! It'll make so much more sense now. I've been reading the battle rules over and over I always struggled to understand that one.

The wording about how Elements work in battle has now been modified with Thunder's help. o 3o Hopefully it'll be easier to understand now~
