I'm not sure if any of you remember mention of an Evelon Encyclopedia or if Baal ever did mention it to the public. A good while back I was reading through the mod area though and decided that it would still be possible to do something similar. There are many free sites that host Wikis, and although we can't provide information about the lore, history, ect. there are things that we can provide. Such as a detailed page for each species that would allow you to see all information of that pet(traits, stats, description, available colorations, ect) in one spot instead of having to run all over the place to get such things. We can also include information on yearly events, the stores, ect.

Why have I not provided a link yet? Well, the thing is, I wanted to first know if any of you had made a Wiki before and had any good suggestions for hosts. We are also looking for a few users willing to help us out with information input. You wouldn't be allowed to post information about your own characters in the wiki, but you would be able to follow whatever format we use for the pages about pets and copy/paste information about them to speed up the process.

This may seem a bit scattered currently, but that's probably just because I just ran the throught by Baal for approval like... yesterday. So I haven't had time to work out any kinks such as how many people we'd like to help us or even what we could give you in return for helping us. Since this is going to be a rather large project I definitely do want to give something for helping. It may be based on how many pages you help fill out for us even.

So... Yes. Please feel free to give me ideas for a host for the wiki as well as tell me if you'd like to help and why you think you'd be a good choice. After the host is chosen I can make an example page or two for our helpers to go by for making other pages.

Well, I can't really say that I'd know of a good host, though, I would love to apply to help out with the wiki itself.


I'm seriously dedicated to this site, and am on it at least two hours every day (okay, a lot more than that now, but yeah...), and would love to help if become more known.  I'm extremely picky about neatness and what goes where, and can promise I'd follow whatever guidelines you guys have already planned down to the last period.  I keep the records for Easter and Retired Pets, and love being able to help out with those, even if some days it can be tiring.  Of course, that also helps me see how much the mods do, and to really appreciate them more.  Whether I get chosen or not, I'll always be here to help out on the site in any way possible, though that's not to say that I wouldn't love to get on of the jobs.  ^^  I've helped out on the Aywas wiki before as well, and can work with it well enough.

EDIT: And truthfully, even if it is a big job, I need something to keep me occupied, and that's payment enough for me.  xD  So yeah, if you hire me, please no payment.  ^^'

Ironically, I was just wondering about how awesome an Evelon Wiki would be the other day xD; It would be a cool idea. It might help me learn more about Evelon's lore. I feel like I know pitifully little on Eve-lore x3x; I wouldn't know anything about hosting a Wiki though =/

I have done quite a lot with wikis; I've edited a ton of them, and even helped a few in the early stages. So I know my way around them.

When it comes to Wiki-ness, you basically have two options in terms of software: MediaWiki (AKA, what Wikipedia uses), or one of the inumerable smaller wiki softwares (though MediaWiki is the biiig one). The primary way to use MediaWiki is, for a lot of people, to join Wikia. However, I would recommend not using that unless there's no other choice. Why? Because Wikia is chock-full of ads, which not only make it difficult to navigate for older computers (and prone to malware now and again), but it's full of pushing other sites and stuff on you, and tries to "interconnect" sites that aren't really related. Plus, like I said, it's hard on older computers.

You guys have something in your favor to begin with in that you own your own domain, so really, you could just download and install MediaWiki for free. The downside of this is that it can be kind of time-consuming, and I don't know if you guys are allowed to host stuff here.  

If you ARE allowed to host stuff here, though, I'd also recommend TiddlyWiki. It's great for smaller projects like this, and it's pretty nice in terms of formatting stuff.

I'm certainly very willing to help, even though I have never edited a wiki page before in my very life. But it sounds like something that could be fun.

Not wanting to be the mean one here, though, but I, personally, don't join forums/websites which have a wiki. At all. Because that means to me that place is so scary big I would need forever to find my way around there (because it obviously has so many rules and informations it needs it's own freaking wiki!) or that it employs a system that makes it impossible for newer users to catch up with older ones since there is so much content that some is inevitably not available to new users anymore. Both is not the case with Evelon, but I fear it might look like it. Then again, that's only me. But that's how I roll. One of our members here is just re-opening a forum or stuff and I was really interested until she linked to a wiki and I immediately went "Yeah, not with me, sorry, not interested in having to learn that much. D8"

Well, I'm always willing to help. c: I've been a mod on site before, so I know how much hard work it can be. :/ Granted it already shut down and there probably wasn't as much work there, but still. xD But anyways! I've edited a couple Wiki pages, and even some for my dad's work. And the people he works with said I did a good job. xD I also have quite a bit of experience with html--computers class for two years now--so editing the page isn't a problem for me. And if there is anything I can't figure out, my dad has edited tons of pages, so he could always help me. ^-^ I don't know much in the way of what to use for the page, since my dad's company used like, an official wiki page. But yeah, I'm always here to help. <3

I'd definitely be willing to help out. I've only edited Wiki pages very... briefly, but I'm sure I could get the hang of things. I love the idea of being able to contribute more to the site. As far as I know, you could make almost any page into a Wiki of sorts, so I guess it depends on how you want to go with it? I think Freezair has some good ideas, though. It would be awesome if we could get it added officially to our domain but, even if we don't, I do like the idea of having all of the information in a one-stop place.

I could help a bit. I'm good at grammer checking and being a spelling nazi when I seriously write things. I'm also good at backing up info. I've editted Wikis before. *cough* FFVII*cough* So yeah once a link is up, I'll get to work. Also the links that Freezer mentioned work well. I've editted one or two before that use that system. So let me know if it's a go and I'll be sure to help.

I'd love to help! Even though I tend to be sporadic with my projects, I do a lot of searching around the site for things like original prices of holiday pets, dates of retirement, parentage, and various other things that some people might find trivial. I just like to know things c:
Also, I'm on here all the time. I might not be doing too many roleplay posts right now due to my novels taking up most of my muse, but I'm still kicking around. I usually have an Evelon tab open even when I'm away from my computer, and I check the "unread posts" page obsessively now that it's back *3*
I'm actually really good at organizing information and figuring out how to work theengs. My room is messy, but I've always been particular with my school things, and I attribute my good grades to that.

I'd be excited to go through the wiki, even if I didn't work on it~ Like I said, I'm a trivial detail kinda gal.
And, if values or prices are included on the pages of once-buyable pets, it could make things a lot easier for traders [and we all know how much trading we do here! 8D].
...I've never really worked on a wiki before, but my friendlings used to call me the walking dictionary~...? /irrelevant

I've managed four wikis before in terms of grammar and content, and I have a friend who makes a hobby out of editing, coding and detailing wikis such as the D&D Wiki, Eberron Wiki, Lotro Wiki and DDO Wiki. This isn't a one- or two-time thing, he does it all the time. I can't promise he'd become a member of the community or anything, since I can't convince him to roleplay for the life of me. But he might be more than happy to help run the thing.

Um...as far as I know, most sites that have wikis only have them to further in-depth describe aspects of the world that you don't necessarily have to know.

Yeah. Anything that will be on the Wiki will be readily available already on the forums or the adoption site if it's something that you have to know. It's going to just be something optional for those who like extra random knowledge or would like to be able to see stats, images, information, previous prices, ect of a pet all in one area. It could even have things such as what the plural form is, what a group of the pet would be called, and once I've worked it out, the taxonomy(this is a project Kodai suggested to me a while back) of the pet. Those are all things you don't have to know but are definitely fun to read about if you like the pets a lot.

As for hosting the Wiki on the actual domain, I would soooo love to because I'm sure it'd be a lot more professional and easier to find, but I don't think we'd be able to. I could definitely ask Baal about it, but doing so would probably mean giving us access to things that in the past she and Ticky didn't want to(the coding and all). Still, it's always worth trying. I'm thinking it'd probably be on some other website that hosts Wikis though. I know there's Wikia but there are also some others. I looked in to it before but wasn't sure what site to use really.
