What style of breedable would you prefer?

Okay so I actually want to pose a question for everyone. Working on the new base for the griffon breedable, I became torn. >8'U Would everyone prefer a breedable like the Lucain where you can order different markings and colors, essentially customizable (and no, sorry, I'm STILL not doing different species of griffons aka head changes) or would everyone prefer to have unique randomized markings like the Diosol.

The benefits for the customizable version will be that you get exactly what you want and they can also have add-ons, but there are no unique markings and it will likely take a little longer to set up a page for them on the website.

The benefits for the completely randomized version is that every order will be unique and the griffins will be available this round of sales. However, as mentioned above, they will not be customizable and will not be able to have add-ons due to the nature of the breeding process.

Here's a random middle-groundy suggestion? This round of orderings, make them all random. Give them lots of colors and try out different designs on them. Make some of them unusual designs, sort of like the Ancient or Flames markings. But save all the layers. Then, once the round of orders is over, decide which among the markings you've created for this random session will be kept and become "real" markings. If any don't make it, you can say that they were "unusual mutations" and while they can't pass on their mutations, it makes them look a bit different and makes the early ones more special. Customs can come later.

...Don't know how possible it is, but it's a thought.

omg yess. Although I would rather them be like paragon with different species heads. :U;; Lucain works as well and I quite like the idea. I like the idea of being able to add add ons to them. So yes yes and yes :3~ Markings, mini marks and add ons.

I like Freezair's idea but I also can see people being all butt hurt about it if they did not get one that had special markings, but I do very much like the idea XD it sounds sweet like sugar :u.

Actually why not hold a contest for markings?? We have not had a contest forever... OR we can shove things into the scav hunt :u?

What if we created a set of gene "themes", and users could choose up to a certain number of these genes for their pet (I was thinking 3-ish)? These themes wouldn't be anything more than words, like "red", "dark", or "ancient", so there are no set markings attached to them. But, depending on what gene themes you pick for your pet, your pet would have colors and markings related to those genes. So maybe, for the three above, you could get a black based griffin with swirly, red markings similar (but not exactly like) the Ancient marking for Lucain/Gon.

...but if that sounds too complicated, then I vote for customizable :U

That's a really neat idea, Thunder. :3 It sort of falls in between both options. The only thing that I'm hung up on is that it's pretty much like ordering a 'Random' custom. I would certainly consider it though. I might perhaps make some hidden markings that you can only obtain through buying Randoms for something to that effect.

Aww, I really like Thunder's idea! It's something we haven't seen before. It would allow for some customization but in a different way!

I like Silv's idea of a contest the best. ^^ But I like getting exactly what I want with the option of getting a random more than only getting randoms.

Even if that means they won't be ready this sale, that means you don't have to rush their completion. All good things to those who wait.

Just going to say that I really like Freezair's idea of having the first round being special randoms. I really do think it would add some appeal to them, at least initially. It would give the, "Well, I can't get one quite like this ever again," factor, which prompts people to want at least one of them.

Though I typically like random markings like on the sickles, they always made me uneasy, because you can never be sure if you're going to get something that inspires you or not, even if there are so many more options for markings that way. Thinking with that in mind, even though there will not be as many marking options, I would prefer having set markings similar to Lucain, because we can at least decide what we want.

However, I think it would be neat to make randoms just that - entirely random. They could have existing markings, customized markings or both at once?

What's this! The field researchers at Evelon have finally been able to find actual specimens of this new breedable species, newly named the Soveris! However, we're still in the process of doing more research, so unfortunately we aren't able to release them yet.

It may have something to do with how blank their genetics seem to be at the moment, but we're pretty sure we'll be able to get them to breed in captivity at some point. All we need is a bit of mood music, some chocolates, some candles. I'm sure it'll all work out.
