Many people gave out many things for Christmas, yes? Christmas has been over for a while now, yes? Well then why are there still trades from before boxes opened that I never got notice of? Example: Moofius and ToxicShadow were given cash boxes from a usually reliable person. Only thing is, I did not learn about this transfer until last night. Moofie asked me for a list of what she still had, and upon getting the list was like, 'Where's my Fenref?' This is what happens when people don't notify me of things!

I can understand being a day or two late. Honestly though, you should send me a message the moment you send someone something. It helps make sure that the records don't get messed up. It's bad enough that I'm human and have been known to make an error here and there. If I was sent a trade note from one side of the trade one week and then a week later finally got notice from the other person, well it's highly likely that the trade might have been recorded already and will get recorded again, thus screwing up your pet count and the other person's.

Yesterday, before finding out of these errors, I had decided on doing something that might take me a while to do since I'm about to be back in school... but might help stop errors, or at least cause less of them. Would it help if everyone was able to see the official records of who owns what retired pet? It won't have Kuhnas, Khimera, lucain, ect. Just the things that I'm in charge of keeping record of. Would this help you guys not forget something you already traded off that you forgot to take out of your pen and end up trying to sell again?

Bit of a rant, bit of an idea. I like making sure there are no errors in my work, so I'm trying to figure out something that can work for us all. You send notes, trades get recorded, no horrible message of me pulling my hair out begging you to help me keep things updated.

So yes. Ideas on the records being viewable to all. I would keep the thread locked, because I don't need anyone posting there saying 'Haha. Found an error.' No, that should be sent in a PM. It would be in the Rule section as well, as that's the only area I feel as proper.



I'll be working on updating the records so they will be ready for view soon.. So yeah. Just keep making sure to actually message me. >>

That might be good-people could see everything officially. And it could help when people accidentally deleted their pens or something like that.

Quite honestly, I love the idea of having viewable records. [Now who would have expected that?] Sometimes, I find myself wondering, "Wait a minute, did the other person notify someone of our trade." or "Now wait, I traded one of those, did I just not take it out of my pen?" or "I know I have one those, but it's not in my pen. Huh, did it actually get recorded then?" and so on and so forth. So yes, I fully support viewable records. I think it'd be a whole lot easier for everyone.

Yikes. Mea culpa. I definitey think having publicly-viewable records of info would help. In addition to being incentive to keep up with trade info, it would be a good reference.

Especially during holidays, when lots of new pets come out, and people trade like crazy... Which is probably what happened to me.

Most definately. You might have to give people a little forewarning though, that changes to the listing won't be instantaneous. Afterall, even our amazing mods are only human x3 There should be a given waiting period (say, one week) before any changes that haven't taken place should be reported to a mod.

Overall though, I love this idea. It would make organizing a pen much easier as well and less work for Shrewdie ;3

I don't see how it's going to help me organize and search Pens. O_o When pets are supposed to retire, I search them before adding them and stuff... I don't deal with that list. How could it help me? I don't organize Pens, you do. Really, the list doesn't help me. Just helps me when I want to know how many X pet exists (since I started to go with that for an estimated value).

Uh.. Quite honestly, I don't know what to say about exposing the list. I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but... Personally, I don't know, I'm unsure. How will it help people notify you more..? Isn't that the reason of the reason of the post? :/ Personally, I need to check the list to know that "Oh, I have to notify Draiz about this trade," or anything. I do have access to it, since I'm a staff member, but I never look at that list. I agree it could help with the lost Pens and such, but... I'm just reluctant. I don't know, it's hard to explain.

Personally, I don't think it'll change a lot. The notification process is what's the problem, not what people own... They just have to do what you said, to notify right as they trade. That's how I see it.

Well, considering people would know what they have/what they're supposed to have, they could probably work out the kinks in ownership themselves instead of waiting for you to tell them that there's a problem with their pen. At least, that's my take on the matter.

Well... You're not supposed to rely on us. If it's become such a thing that you have to wait on us for so long that it becomes infuriating, we're not the ones at fault. :/ Everyone should keep track of what they have and what they've traded. We're here as a "Plan B", incase you've really forgotten and you're not sure. I don't keep to the list and I know what I own. It happened once that I looked it over, when I thought I had a Mint Teigu when I hadn't, by which it happened that the trade hadn't been notified. That was a "I'm not sure, what happened to this pet?" situation, from long ago. I notified Draiz right away about it and it was cleared.

If YOU don't know what you own and WE have weird records... you might end up getting a pet you're not supposed to have or that was traded. We're here to keep things under control, not to manage them... That's how I see the Ownership Lists. They're there as a safety harness and not for constant peeking.

Mind that I'm not trying to flare up an argument with this; I'm just stating how I see the point that was proposed. :/ I'm not trying to bash anyone.

Yeah, I see your point, and I agree with you. I'm just saying that there are people who aren't exactly...adept at keeping track of what they have or what they're supposed to have, and it would eventually get extremely irritating for you mods. Therefore, if they can see the ownership listing, they can catch any notifications that they've missed relatively early and fix them, instead of having them sit there until the next big check-up, and have no idea what was supposed to be where.

That's a pretty good idea. Although I do agree with Shrewd. It shouldn't be taken upon the mods to rely on looking at your trade records all the times. It should be brought upon you to keep track of what you've traded. Of course the mods should keep track, but it should be more of your responsibility to keep track of what you traded. Like for example, I save all my trade records on the computer and write it down in my, what I call it, my official 'Evelon' journal. And of course you should never forget to notify the mods about trades. I mean come on, they can't read your mind here.

I do think it could be useful since all humans can do mistakes once in a while. I also think, like Shrewd, that some people might only rely on that to know if they have to notify you though... I don't know what to say... It's true that sometimes I would love to be able to make sure that there are no mistakes. Especially when I make a sale and that I have to trade like... 7 or 8 pets at the same time. It can get confusing in those cases.

In overall, I like the idea. As long as it doesn't become annoying for Draiz, I think it can come in handy. You wouldn't need to PM a mod if you are unsure of what you own. It might also help the mods have less work.

For me, I usually let a few trades accumulate and send the notifications at one shot. I know it's lazy of me, but it still gets notified, right?

As for the viewable records, I think it would be alright, at least to get everything settled after the festive season. Then take it down and it goes back under wraps, once everyone's sure that their records are all right.

One more thing. If you're worried about double notifications, how about including the date when the deal was done? So if there were really two trades, they would have different dates.
