War Dogs? Sorta. [RP/Lifemate Search]

Postby crow » 11/19/2016 12:07 AM

Long story short, a plot of mine fell through a little while back, and I'm looking to revive it since I like the idea, so.

Image

This boy is looking for a handler.

He currently has no name--- that's for his handler to decide--- but he's essentially a genetic experiment created with the intent to produce super-soldiers usable for war. He appears human, if a bit unkempt, but even in his human form, he possesses extraordinary senses, speed, strength and reaction time. He's also capable of entering into a semi-beast form where those abilities are enhanced even further, though at the cost of some degree of rational thought.

As a result of... questionable management, lack of funding, and other issues that plagued the project, the boy didn't grow up in a properly enriched environment. His manners are more or less like those of a half-feral animal, though this is merely a result of his upbringing; he has the same mental capabilities of a human, and would likely have grown up just like any other boy had he been given the environment for it.

That's part of why they're looking for a handler now: they need someone to spend time with him, socialize him, but most importantly someone for him to get attached to. What better leash than loyalty and love, after all? He was designed to form a strong attachment quickly, and to guard his handler with his life, which was why everyone involved in the project was forbidden to interact directly with him. Wouldn't want him getting too hung up on someone who wasn't right for the job, would we?

Now that the people who had commissioned the project have gone flat broke though, the scientists are looking for someone else to take up that leash. Highest bidder, and all that. They've got to eat too, you know.

Possible plot ideas:

This could play out with the boy getting put to his intended use, with a fellow soldier as his handler, especially as the War is still going on. It could be he's selected as a general soldier, or for special tasks (though probably not espionage, all things considered). His specific nature also makes him a good candidate for someone who needs a bodyguard.

Or, if your character is more mundane, they could simply find him somehow after he's run away from his keepers. It'll be a much less formal introduction, and depending on how long he's been out there, he could be more feral and wary of humans.

Or, y'know, it could be both. Someone involved in the war finds out about him, feels bad, and decides to personally break him out. Or what have you. It's pretty open-ended at this point aside from the specifics of his origin story, so I'm open to suggestions.

As a side note, I'm all for angst, but I'm really hoping for him and his handler to have a good relationship, at least eventually--- potentially lifemates (I'm a sap), but either way, not a situation where his trust and affection is abused for the long term. P:

Oh yeah, your pet doesn't necessarily have to be a Kuhna just because mine is. I don't really care about species for plots, but I do have some alternate forms in case breedability is a priority of yours.

Ohhh man, you had me at lifemate and angst. XD I've been looking for new RPing adventures, so perhaps we could work something out (also because I'm a total sucker for long-term, lifemating RPs :3).

Mkay, so, off the top of my head for a possible idea (because I function best when creating characters to fit preexisting characters/plots that other people already have):

I'm imagining a gal who's also part of the military, most likely part of a special-ops unit, and she'll likely be trained primarily for solo operations. Essentially raised from childhood to have a life in the military, she hasn't really known any other life, and while she hasn't been forced to do anything against her will, she doesn't know of any other reality outside of the army.

I'm currently waffling between a few options for a specialization for her, but I could imagine her being either a covert operative, or perhaps a sniper or something of the sort, so it would give reason as to why she might need a personal guard to watch her back (also, that would make her somewhat smaller in stature, and while feisty, sometimes that alone isn't enough to get out of a sticky situation). Either that, or she could be more of a super-soldier type who was essentially put in charge of your boy since she could be trusted to handle him, should there ever come a situation when he might need to be restrained. However, considering her track record, she's really only accustomed to working alone, so she'll likely be rather resistant to the idea of being given something to babysit (or be babysat by), and I can see their relationship starting off rather frostily, with her probably seeing him as being more of a tool than anything, and less than human. I see her as possibly being a genetic experiment herself as well (considering her personality, she would likely need to have something in common with your boy to find some kind of humanity within herself to empathize with him), but the experimentation upon her would be much more focused on the psychological aspect, like possibly trying to alter her brain to enhance her analytical capacities, and there's a possibility for her having some cybernetic enhancements as well (which might also contribute to her somewhat lacking humanity).

She'll probably be pretty cold and generally unfeeling off the bat, since she's essentially a calculating machine honed to do her job and not much else, and she sees no value in nurturing any kind of human relationships. That's where your boy comes in, and in time, as they work together and begin to get to know each other, she'll start to see him as an actual person, and for the first time in her life, actually form a connection to someone.

As for forms, I absolutely adore custom Kuhna pairings, so if this idea piques your interest, I was thinking perhaps one of these Kuhnas for her form:

Also, feel free to peek through my pen and see if anything else catches your eye, both for a possible form for this gal, or if anyone else piques your fancy or strikes you for possible pairing ideas. ^^

I have some optiooooons~

Ai - Fatality - D-Day
Female - Female - Male

The three of them are part of a small group that actively exposes, disrupts and attempts to correct the evils of the government and government officials. They take up a range of tasks, from hacking into government networks to expose falsified information or gross secret agendas, finding ways to strip officials of their money/titles that abuse power, to assassinating those that heavily abuse their power (people that commit crimes against humanity).

Initially, the group was started by a woman, Mal, that was in the military and was brought into a special ops team. From living on the inside, she was a witness to some of the great atrocities of the government and military, and she eventually went AWOL. She was initially joined by two women (twin sisters) that lived in a more rural area that had been essentially sold into servitude to a lord (the power of the area) and became personal body guards, but were both falsely imprisoned for murder after both refused to marry him. When they broke out of prison, Mal reached out to them, since they, too, were criminals of the government institution. Later, someone else from the Special Ops team, Larz, that was tortured for years after Mal went missing since it was discovered that he aided her, joined them.

To clarify, their "world," is a mixture of modern and not-so-modern, with large cities and advanced technology (at least to our rate, plus a bit), but also rural areas that are more out-of-touch with the rest of the world.

Admittedly, none of the available three are all too fleshed out, since I haven't had to opportunity to roleplay them (with the exception of Ai). They're beloved characters that I've had for a good while now, though.

All three of them are trained to the same extent that their leader, Mal, was trained to while she was a special ops soldier. In other words, they're all soldiers, fighters, of their own right, able to infiltrate high security areas, handle high risk situations, and hold their own in fights. They are non-military military, really, so they sort of fit the bill, just... not quite.

Ai specializes in martial arts/hand-to-hand combat and melee combat, but is trained to handle anything she would need to. She was born in a rural area, her mother dying shortly after her birth due to complications with her delivery. When she was she still a child (think around 9), her father became ill and eventually bedridden, so she took up odd jobs and became something of a fighter for hir or body guard,  among other things. Her father died, before long, and she sought out her last known remaining family that might actually care for her existence: her older cousins, the twins that broke out of prison. She is very much a sneaky assassin type, at least compared to the others.

Fatality and D-Day were born into the group. Their Mal's own children, although I'm thinking that they were fast growing test-tube babies, from an experiment that she didn't consent to. (As in, within a few year's time, two or three years, they reached adult age.) Each one specializes a bit differently, but each one can fully operate all positions in a tank. (Something AI is not trained to do.) As well as generally handle any weapons, etc, that they would need to.

Being such a small group, they don't intend to start a full rebellion against their government, but they are seeking to correct it as much as they can through their methods. Fun fact: Their funding comes from siphoning bank accounts of all the baddies in the government, so they are WELL funded.

With your boy, I'm thinking that it's a possibility that they catch wind of the experiment/project and seize him for themselves? Although, in the end, he would still be a solider after bonding to one of them, he would have vastly more freedom to make his own decisions. Essentially, I can see it playing out that he becomes attached to whomever personally retrieves him, although their original intention was more likely to rescue him and acclimate him to the real world, allowing him to eventually become a fairly regular person of society, if at all possible. Because, bad government, how DARE you do such a terrible thing to a living person?

Also, to clarify, the reason I am only offering Ai, Fatality and D-Day is because, as far as love goes, the other main four members (Mal, Ming, Ling and Larz) are all intimately spoken for. So, with one of the available three, love and cute stuff is possible.

Sorry for the slow response. Was mostly waiting for an opportunity to have a good sit-down so I can hash out my thoughts. P:

Flame: I do like your idea a lot; I'm leaning more towards the sniper, since I like the idea better of someone who needs/can actually use him in a more blatant sense, if you know what I mean? Admittedly I'm not sure I have much of a plot as of yet either, but we can work it out as we go. P:

I've been a bit on the fence about what kind of personality the wolf-boy experiment actually has, but considering your girl will be fairly cold and aloof, I was thinking he'd be more friendly and eager to please, once he gets over his initial reservations and forms the attachment. It'd be kind of funny to have him follow her around like a literal love-struck puppy, ehe.

I'm guessing they'll be properly introduced by his creators?

Those are some mighty pretty Kuhnas. I like the last one best personally, it looks the most like a cold sniper type to me, but I'm fine with any of them P:

Toxic: Gonna take a page out of your book and float the possibility of multiple boys with the same origin--- I've got a Lykuhna I could use for this too. ovo We talked it out a bit more over IMs, and I thought it'd be interesting to see how the dynamic would play out with Fatality, since you said she had a flirty streak? I imagine it'll mostly go over the wolf-boy's head. He would be the worst wingman. The anti-wingman, even. Though, then again, I'm not entirely sure what he could do on or around a tank, so if you'd rather he go with Ai, we can try and work that out instead?

Since your squad will be going the "forceful liberation" route, yeah, I can see him latching onto whoever broke him out as the one semi-familiar thing in the middle of everything else. I could see this boy as being more wary and timid, though still willing to fight if he senses a threat, and protective of whoever it is he's formed a bond with. I'm actually looking forward to their trying to acclimate him to regular society, there's so much potential for cute fluff there *v* Though I'm pretty sure he'd just be sad and distressed if he thought they were trying to 'abandon' him by passing him off to live out a normal life. He's fine with fighting and soldiering, just as long as he gets to stay with his people.

Alrighty, so I’ve been doing some brainstorming for this gal of mine for your wolf boy, and I do think that I’ll go with the last of the three Kuhnas I posted for her form. That form itself has also given me a few ideas for her backstory too, so hopefully it’ll give us a launching point for a plot.

I’m thinking that she was actually born into a poor family, but from birth, she was blind (hence the ghosty white eyes). Due to the fact that her family couldn’t afford to care for and raise her, especially with her unfortunate handicap, she was essentially going to be abandoned, or put up for adoption. However, the military – specifically on the technology/R&D side – caught wind of her (and her family’s predicament), and basically offered them a stipend if they released her into their care. Knowing that the military would have more than enough funding to raise a child, even a disabled one, as well as desperately needing the money, they gave her to the military’s care.

The girl was then essentially entered into a research program, where the scientists were interested in developing cybernetic enhancements for human subjects. Considering the nature of the human body though, it would be much easier to experiment on a child, as their body would be more likely to adapt to and incorporate foreign tech than an adult’s would. Being the girl’s sole legal guardian, the military essentially had free rein to experiment on her at will, and she became the first successful person to have entirely cybernetic eyes implanted into her.

Considering how young she was when she was taken in, and the fact that they basically gifted her with eyesight, the girl has been unquestioningly loyal to the military ever since, especially since they continued to raise her after the successful experimentation. Of course, the reason they did so was simply because they wanted to continue to observe her progress as she grew, and over time, they moved from doing simple upgrades on her “hardware” to fiddling with her “software” as well. So, her entire life, she’s been tinkered with to hone her abilities (specifically for her role as a sniper, which she chose for herself due to her newly heightened eyesight), and is now essentially the military’s top sharpshot.

I’m thinking that she’ll be perhaps somewhat on the smaller side (due to malnutrition and such which occurred before she came under the military’s care), so while she’s a phenomenal sniper, she falls somewhat short in the physical combat field. That’s where your boy comes in – the military wants to protect her, not only due to the fact that she’s their best sniper, but also because of the sheer amount of money and resources they’ve poured into her development. I’m imagining that their particular branch is doing better than the one which your wolf-boy originates from, and as such, they essentially purchase him as an asset and assign him to her as her personal guard (and it’s easier as well since the resources get to stay within the military as a whole).

Maybe this happens following some incident where she almost gets killed, upon which they decide she needs a personal retainer. Alternatively, she could be part of an entirely different military force, and discovers the wolf-boy during an operation, sparing his life since she can see that he’s essentially a prisoner to those who created him. Of course, she’d only be doing so out of pragmatism (not that she would admit to having empathy), but when she totes this feral boy back to her base, they could essentially lump him on her as her responsibility since she found him (and she’d be forced to take him in reluctantly, or try – unsuccessfully – to find another keeper for him, especially if he’s ‘imprinted’ on her by that point), or they’d take him to study him as they’d be interested in the science that went into his creation. In that situation, I’d imagine that they would be less than gentle in their treatment of him, and she would eventually intervene to rescue him (again, reluctantly, since she’s an aloof, somewhat cold person who wouldn’t admit to actually caring about his welfare).

Another option would be them meeting in a “let’s put all the candidates together in a room and see who he goes for” sort of setting, since the military just wants to find a partnership that jives, and he arbitrarily chooses her to latch on to. Or perhaps my girl is sent as extra support along with another unit that is infiltrating or raiding the facilities where your wolf-boy is being held, and of all of the people there, he takes a liking to her (or she’s the kindest to him of the lot of them). Orrrrr, the scientists try to pawn the boy off on an abusive handler (perhaps he/his people were the highest bidders), and my gal intervenes, unknowingly causing the boy to attach himself to her instead, and we can go from there. That one also provides an opportunity down the line for conflict from the original buying party, since they would want to get their money’s worth out of him.

I’ll…stop puking ideas now. XD Sorry about how wordy this got – I like to take possible starts to plots and just go every which way with them, haha. Let me know if any of those ideas interests you, or if you have any ideas as well? I'm super excited for this plot, whichever way we decide to go with it. 8D
