Saryn stood like a statue, not moving an inch as he waited for his opponents to enter and the match to start. He'd been requested to enter this thing with some soldier. Apparently a test for the guy or something. He didn't pay much attention to the details. But this was good practice for him too. To go up against others who (he assumed) were actual fighters. Without even glancing at his new companion, he locked his eyes on the opponents as they entered, quickly scanning them over. The second the match started, he lurched forward, aiming a fireball (also known as the Pyro ability) at the lucain that he could tell was not of the fire type (whose name happened to be Veneziano).



Matthew was staring off into space, thinking. The opponents hadn't shown up yet and his temporary companion stood freakishly still not 5 feet away. He was told by his superiors that this tournament was to be his test. To see how well his abilities suited him. He was expected to treat this seriously and give it everything he had, but also expected to act as a soldier would. Hence the reason he had a partner. Not that his partner seemed the type to work together with others. So, it seemed Matt would be following his lead. At least, until he got into the rhythm of fighting. Sure enough, once the opponents were here and the round started, the man Saryn had taken off and attacked. Following his lead, Matt lurched forward as well. He aimed his attack at the other opponent, determined that they shouldn't focus on one. The target's name was apparently Reyson.

Reyson wasn't necessarily an aggressive man. He was a formidable opponent in battle, but he did not like fighting. As an ambassador, his job was to keep the peace between nations and avoid conflict as much as possible. But when the young Lucain, Veneziano, asked him to join this tournament, he found he could not refuse. If a citizen asked for his help as nicely as possible, he would comply to the best of his ability.

So Reyson and Ven stepped into the arena, both in their animal forms. Like good tacticians, they had discussed some strategies beforehand and hoped to coordinate their attacks well. The two sized up their opponents, gave each other a look, and leaped into battle.

Veneziano was the swifter of the two, not being a bulk dragon like Reyson. He ran at the Kuhna, Saryn, with extended claws, hoping to land a good blow. Really, he preferred swords, but Reyson had convinced him that his human form would do little good in this tournament. Meanwhile, Reyson was following him, ready to sweep in for a second attack on Saryn after Ven's attempt.

Saryn scowled as his attack missed, and promptly jumped to avoid Veneziano's claws. Unfortunately, he was unable to avoid the secondary attack by Reyson and was knocked backwards. To be expected of such a large creature, the paragon was quite strong. But Saryn wasn't out yet. With a grunt, he flipped back onto his paws, darting to the side. Flipping on his back paws, he attempted to come up behind the opponents and flung another fireball (aka: Pyro) at Veneziano.

Well, Matthew had managed to hit the opponent, but hadn't managed to avoid the paragon's spikes. Nor was he able to help his comrade, who had been ganged up on. With a frown, Matt noticed Saryn's movement and guessed at the attack. Identifying the target, he decided to give their opponents a taste of their own medicine. Jumping forward, he copied Saryn's movement and prepared to use his Blade ability on Veneziano just after his comrade's attack.

[Thunder]

Ven managed to dodge the fireball, but in the process he missed his own attack. He growled in frustration, but when he saw that Reyson managed to knock his aggressor back, he smiled again. He set his eyes on Saryn once more and tried to get a blow on the Kuhna this time.

While he was focusing on Saryn, however, he failed to notice Matthew coming at him. Reyson was turning around from his previous attack and spotted the other team ganging up on Ven. He dove down at Matthew and tried slamming into the Khimera with his wings. Hopefully this would keep Matthew from hitting Ven.

Matthew frowned. He had seen Saryn's attack hit, and had managed to strike with his own, but unfortunately Saryn was also hit and was out like a light. So much for that. Though on the other hand, the higher ups might like the fact he lasted longer than their chosen fighter. Unfortunately, he had also been distracted momentarily by Saryn's fall and was hit by a blow from the paragon. With a growl, he bounded away and spun around, aiming an attack at Veneziano. He'd do his best to knock out at least one opponent first. Matt certainly wasn't going down without a fight, no sir.

[Thunder]

Veneziano gritted his teeth and let out a slight hiss of pain as the fireball smacked into his side, scorching the fur and skin there, but he kept up his attack and landed a firm blow, taking his opponent out. Don't think about the burn! he mentally commanded himself. You've endured worse before! Turning around, he saw Matthew leaping at him, and he knew he had to react quickly. Staggering slightly from the burn, he swiftly opened up a small pouch that he wore around his neck in place of his usual glowsticks. He swung the pouch to release a barrage of energy pellets, which hopefully would explode in front of Matthew.

In the meantime, Reyson turned 180 degrees in the air and began diving at Matthew again. He readied another mighty blow with his wings, hoping to do more damage to the Khimera. Nevermind the pellets Ven just tossed; as a user of energy and explosions himself, those wouldn't do much to him at all even if they hit.

Matthew had somehow managed to avoid the lucain's attack, and yet managed to hit him as well. Nice! Unfortunately, he had forgotten about the paragon and was surprised to be struck by its wings from behind. Oh great, another error for the higher ups to frown at. With a snarl, he whipped around and launched himself at Veneziano for an attack that he hoped would finish off that opponent. As much as he wanted to lash out at that paragon, he had to get rid of the fact he had two people ganging up on him. There was no way he'd win at this rate.
Plus, the higher ups would be more pleased with him knocking out an opponent.

[Thunder]

"Crap," Ven growled, seeing his pellets miss. He couldn't move fast enough to avoid Matthew's attack due to the burn, and he staggered as the Khimera landed a square blow on him. Thankfully, however, Reyson was there to back him up and did some damage to their opponent. Ven was getting tired now, and the burn was really hurting, so he gathered up what strength he could and lunged at Matthew. At the same time, Reyson fixed his eyes on Matthew and went in for an attack with his claws.
