The previous battle had been a success. Veneziano was delighted by his victory, but he knew that tougher fights lied ahead, and he couldn't get too cocky now. He stepped into the arena, healed of the burn that he got from his last match, and sized up his foes. These two, a Nyghtmare and a Werebetta, seemed pretty strong. Once the opposing team was ready, Ven dashed right at them.

He motioned for Reyson to go after the Werebetta first, and the Paragon complied. The two of them attempted a tag team attack on Oscar, Ven leaping at Oscar with his claws and Reyson flying in from above.

Chariot and Oscar had both seen to the battle medic, and both were looking pretty well. Chariot's minor wounds had been healed, and Chariot was stamping with fire in his eyes. Oscar had taken an antidote and was now healed of that dreadful poison. Both of them stared down their opponents and snorted.

"They have powerful spines," Chariot said. "We should avoid attacking them directly for as long as possible," Chariot said.

Oscar snorted in response. "That one looks like a Lavamancer," he said. "I think I can handle a little fire."

"Now!" Chariot commanded. His horn lit up brilliantly, and a searing Ray attack fired at Veneziano. Behind him, Oscar geared up a water-ball in his mouth, and spit a Deluge at Reyson.

Reyson and Ven were both surprised at the opposing team's elemental attacks. Veneziano swerved sharply as he ran to avoid the beam of light, and Reyson did a loop in the air to dodge the water. Their offense had broken up, but at least they hadn't been hit either.

"Watch out for those!" Reyson called to Ven from above. The Lucain nodded and charged at Oscar again, trying to repeat the tactic for their previous attack. Reyson spun around to face Oscar and also resumed his dive-bomb on the Werebetta.

"We missed!" Oscar grumped. "How did we miss?"

"They missed too," Chariot said. He feinted away from the blows. "Let's do it again! [i]Water and light, combined into one! Create a sparkling ray!"

"You have a flair for the dramatic," Oscar laughed. "I think I like you!" He readied another water blast as Chariot fired off his shining ray.

Oscar uses Deluge on Reyson. Chariot uses Ray on Veneziano.

This time, Reyson and Ven both tried to push forward with their attacks, but this effort only ended up with Ven getting a blast of light to the face and Reyson getting pummeled by water. Ven growled and leaped backwards, blinking away the blinding flash. As soon as his vision was fairly recovered, he tried attacking Oscar again. Maybe this time it would work.

Reyson had gotten water up his throat and nose, and he tried coughing up as much of it as he could. "Blast, that will affect my fire breath," he muttered to himself. He couldn't let his partner down, however, so he too attempted to land a blow on Oscar once more.

[Freezair]

"Excellent dodge, my friend!" Chariot complimented. The two swerved and dodged the attacks. With an equine spin, Chariot turned around to face his opponents. "I still have one blast in me! But you are not so lucky, are you, friend?"

Oscar shook his head. "I'm afraid so. I'll have to go toe-to-toe with those spikes."

"Then let's attempt to remove one of them from the picture! The Paragon is faltering. Let's strike against him while we can!"

Chariot uses Ray on Reyson. Oscar attacks Reyson with a basic attack.

Veneziano saw Oscar heading for Reyson, but he focused on his attack and mentally cheered once he got a solid blow. For a fish with such fearsome teeth, the Werebetta seemed to be lacking in defenses. Hopefully a few more attacks would swiftly bring Oscar down. Ven spun around just in time to see Reyson nearly evade Oscar's move, but unfortunately the dodge cost Reyson his own attack again.

"Confound it!" Reyson roared as he swooped past Oscar. He was frustrated that he hadn't managed to land a single blow the entire battle. The dragon did another turn in the air and dived at the Werebetta again, but this time he put a spin on his attack in hopes of throwing off his opponents. As this happened, Ven opened up a small pouch that was hanging around his neck. He had refilled the pouch with energy pellets since the last battle, and now he tossed all the ones he had, hoping to help Reyson out.

"Ha ha! I am not one to taunt, but you have made an unwise choice." Chariot stomped and raised his horn to the sky. The energy from the barrage was coming towards him, and it seemed that his body was sucking up the skill with Energy Syphon!

"I do not mean to pry, friend, but I think we should keep up the attack! You may absorb the skill, but we need to keep attacking!" Oscar had rounded on Reyson. With a mighty leap, he lunged.

"Of course," Chariot agreed.

Both Chariot and Oscar attack Reyson.

Veneziano's pellets seemed to have hurt the Werebetta somewhat, and Reyson, being an energy user himself, wasn't harmed. Chariot hadn't taken any damage either, but they had to focus on Oscar for now. Unfortunately, in the midst of the pellet barrage, Reyson's attack had missed yet again, and his enemy's lunge sent him reeling in the air. He was tiring quickly, and if they didn't take Oscar down, they could be in big trouble.

Ven broke into a swift dash and went to tackle Oscar. Reyson, feeling the hurt now and still weak from the water blast, went after the fish with his claws, wondering if this was the last move he'd be able to make. "I have to be lucky to survive this one," he muttered.

"That looked like it hurt!" Chariot winced. "Are you alright, friend?"

"Of course I'm alright," Oscar said. "It's not over 'til it's over! And for me, it's not over until I've won! I don't like to be cocky, but I can handle this."

"Can you handle the Paragon still? He's still hanging in there!"

"With pleasure!"

Both Oscar and Chariot attack Reyson.
