~*Single Battles*~

A single battle involves two users who each roleplay one pet. The battle begins with each user posting to introduce his/her pet(s) to the battlefield. Aside from the regular roleplaying part, this post must also include the pet's:

* Image
* Level
* AP
* Size
* Diet
* Element(s)
* Stats
* Battle Traits

Here is an example of a proper introductory post.

When this is done, a moderator will join the battle and make a post compiling both pets' information. The moderator will also apply any Trait effects that take place immediately, such as stat boosts. The moderator will then indicate which pet moves first. This is typically the pet with the highest Speed, unless the opponent has a Trait that automatically lets it move first. Then, the battle officially begins!

The user whose pet is moving first can now roleplay his/her pet's actions. The user can choose to do any of the following:

* Use a regular (non-Trait) attack that has no effects other than dealing damage. All pets can perform this type of attack.

* Use an Activate, AP, One-Hit, or One-Use Trait. Refer here for what each of these mean.

* Skip their turn. This may be useful in certain scenarios, such as when your pet is confused, but the pet is still vulnerable to attacks from its opponent.

Keep in mind that you cannot roleplay an attack definitely hitting or missing -- you may only roleplay your pet attempting to attack. Here is an example of posting a pet's actions.

Once the first user has posted, the second user replies with his/her pet's actions, following the same rules as above. After both users post, the moderator will post and reveal the following:

* If the pets hit or missed with their attacks.
* If a pet is hit by an attack (or otherwise damaged), how much damage was done.
* Both pets' remaining Endurance and AP.
* Any other relevant information, such as the wearing off of a status effect.

The first player can then post with his/her pet's reaction and begin the cycle over again. Players take turns until one of the pets' Endurance reaches 0 and is knocked out (in a tournament)/killed (in a war battle). In the case of a tournament match, the winner will be able to advance to the next battle. In the case of a war battle, the losing pet is considered killed (unless the winning pet has Subduing Strike) and cannot battle or roleplay until it is revived.

At the end of the battle, the moderator will also declare the winner's prizes or how to claim prizes, if applicable.

If users believe a moderator has made a mistake during the battle or suspect that rules are not being followed, users are free to PM that moderator with their concerns.

~*Double Battles*~

Double battles function similarly to single battles, except they involve two teams of two users who each roleplay one pet, OR one user roleplaying two different pets as a team, depending on that particular battle's rules. Pets who are paired together are considered allies, and they must defeat the opposing team.

The differences between double and single battles are as follows:

1) The moderator's first post will indicate the order in which all pets move ("move order"). Pets move starting from highest to lowest Speed, unless a pet has a Trait that automatically lets them move first. If more than one pet has such a Trait, the pet with higher Speed moves earlier. The moderator will post the results of a turn after all four pets have moved.

2) When attacking, users must specify which opponent their pet is targeting, unless a trait is capable of hitting multiple pets at once. Traits that do this include Elemental Area Attacks, Burst Spin, and Scatterstrike.

3) Players take turns until both pets on one team reach 0 Endurance.

4) If a pet gains stat boosts from its ally's Trait(s)/Element(s), the pet will lose those stat boosts when the ally is KO'd/killed.

5) If a pet KOs/kills a pet that moves later, the KO'd/killed pet will not be able to act. Likewise, any other actions targeting the KO'd/killed pet will not take effect.

6) Element strengthening will occur in double battles.

~*Other Things to Know*~

Do my pets level up in battle?
Yes! Just like with roleplaying, every 5 posts during a battle nets your pet one level up. Levels gained during battles give your pet +1 to all stats. However, the level up will not factor into the ongoing battle; it will only apply to future battles.
