Millie's Spring Contest Event [1 Slot open 5/22!]

Millie's Boris's Spring Contest Event

~*~~*~~*~

It’s such a nice, sunny day outside, isn’t it?

The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, the Socross’s are reading…

Wait.

As you trudge down the cobblestone path leading to the very old, but very well loved park, you see a small Socross sitting in your path. He appears to be engrossed in a book that is nearly twice his size, and looks to be over five hundred years old (If the mold, dusty, and cobwebs are any indication; I mean the book, of course, not the Socross). He doesn’t seem to notice you at first, even as you scrutinize the cover to try and ascertain what he is reading, but when he does catch sight of you, he claps the book shut with tiny claws, and gives you a very unimpressed look.

“Don’t you know it’s rude to stare?”

You’re not entirely sure what to say to that. You hadn’t expected him to talk to you. In fact, you had been toying with the idea of just braving the untamed bushes and brush on either side of the path to go around him, but you seem to have his full attention now, so it would be rude to just walk off. Or step over him.

“I suppose you’re here for the contest?”

What? What is this Socross talking about? What contest?

The Socross heaves a self-suffering sigh, rolling his eyes and tucking his abnormally large book under one tiny arm. It nearly dwarfs him in size, and he looks ridiculous with that withering expression on his face. “The contest with the eggs, of course. I assume you read the flyer and are here to participate.” He looks you up and down, clearly not very impressed with you, and raises one brow-ridge in demand of an answer. You can’t seem to find one even as he sighs and turns on his heel. He toddles down the path, looking ridiculous with his bumbling feet and over-sized book, and you can’t help but laugh. “Don’t stand there gawking like an idiot,” he snaps, his patience clearly at an end and obviously displeased by your amusement. “Follow me. It’s clear you’re here for the contest, so once we get to the park, you can begin.”

You follow the Socross, your curiosity now piqued; what was this contest about? What were the rules? The prizes? And what were you supposed to find?

“I’ll explain everything once we get there,” the Socross huffs, looking as though he’s struggling with the weight of his book. You consider helping him, but considering how bad his attitude seems to be, you’re not sure if he’d bite you for the attempt or not, so you hold back. “You can call me Boris, by the way. I’m the caretaker of this magica- ….I mean, of this perfectly ordinary looking park.”

You raise an eyebrow. Was he about to say ‘magical’? What did that mean?

“Anyway, get a move on. We’re going to be late for the start of the contest at this perfectly ordinary looking park.”

Intrigued, you decide to follow Boris down the path to the ‘perfectly ordinary park,’ as he says. You wonder about the word ‘magical,’ and you wonder about this contest, and then you wonder…just how are all these things connected?

Well, only one way to solve this mystery.

Follow Boris, and find out.

------

Rules:
Same basic thing as the last contest I had in the winter. You can find it in Nabias.

1: There may be no more than five entrants at a time for round one; seven for round two.

2: Each entrant has the ability to make ten moves, and ten moves only, and then they must leave.. After you are accepted by Boris (me), your ten posts begin immediately. Slots will not open for round two until round one is complete~

3: You may make only ONE move in a row (No double posting; you must wait for someone else to post)

4: For each move, the entrant must declare in BOLD TEXT one of two things; the desire to SEARCH of the desire to MOVE. You may not do both.

5: If you decide to move;
You may only move to one place on the map at a time. You may only move to a place that is beside the one you started in, whichever way. For instance, you could NOT begin at 1, and then jump directly to 4. Think of it as Monopoly; you must move forward and back across the board. You may move through the park, but you cannot jump from 1 to 4 or 5 or back. Areas that are beside each other are accessible to one another. I will tell you if your move is 'illegal' but I don't think people will have a hard time figuring it out. Move to ONE area at a time. Use common sense.

6: If you decide to search:
You may search the area. You can use the descriptions to tell you what’s there or the picture or even be creative (But not outlandish). Your search may be successful or not so successful. I will also tell you what type of pet you can find in this area; average, rare, very rare, or super rare or even out of the ordinary, after I tell you if your chances are poor, decent, good, or very good.

Note about searches:
You don’t need to wait for me to inform you of your success or failure. You are encouraged to go about your business and move or search. I will reply to any and all searches so you know what you’re finding (Which means that if you want to know your chances or type of pet that's here, you should wait for me to reply, but if you don't feel free to continue). My NPCs are not there for you to powerplay, either. For all intents and purposes, they are actual characters and will do as they please (But will not powerplay your character) So please, be courteous and kind to them and don't try and use them as your own.

7: The distance from number 1 does NOT influence your pet rarity.

8: Not everyone may win something, but the least you’ll go away with is 120 KS (Or 5 GT) for your trouble. Sometimes a search will be unsuccessful, but a majority of the time, it will be successful. There are ten pets and twelve prizes total; once the ten pets  and two currency prizes are gone, the event is over.

9: All participants begin in Area 1, the Picnic Tables.

10: PLEASE add your move count to the end of your posts so I know how far along you are. Thanks!

11: Remember, the chances for everyone are different; meaning, if you’re in the same place as someone else, your chance of finding something will be different, so don’t base where you go off other people.

14. DO NOT PM me and ask me to ‘hurry up and post’ or ‘when am I going to post.’ I received these types of PMs last time, and I did not appreciate them. Also, you don’t have to be grateful or anything, but please don’t be rude. And I would love it if people didn’t turn around and just re-sell the RARE pets I give them (There’s a breedable somewhere in here; I won’t say what, but it’s there) If you ‘can’t think of something’ for it, or just don’t want it, you can always give it back to me and let some other lucky participant get the pet.

13: Quantity and quality DOES count. Don't put the bare minimum effort into your posts. The more you try, the more you write, the more you have FUN, the better your prize may be! So make sure to give it your BEST shot!

14: Have fun, and any questions you have, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

(You can find the larger version here.)

Areas

Number 1, The Picnic Tables: Her you’ll find a variety of food, fun, and nice blankets to lay out in the sun on. This seems to be a lazy area, where most of the families are hanging around with their kids. Those precocious little scamps love to play tricks, so don’t be surprised if they’ve moved those eggs! Anyway, you’re free to help yourself to the food, and even sit under the shade of the trees on the blankets we’ve laid out. Just watch out for ants and stuff. They’re all over the place today. Such a shame. But that watermelon does look delicious, doesn’t it? Just try to avoid leaving any picnic baskets unattended; someone said they saw something strange stealing food from the baskets and leaving nasty surprises in their places. I’m sure it’s just some fanciful conjuring of their imagination, but then again, this park was built on ancient, mystical worshipping grounds. So who knows? (Can only move from Area 1 to Area 2 or 3)

Number 2, the Gazebo: A place for music, fun and family times! Well, maybe not so much family times. The adults seem to have gathered here and are [partaking in beverages of the - ahem - questionable variety. So please watch where you set your drink. Besides that though, theirs is a large, grand stand gazebo with a rather lively band playing some uplifting, upbeat music. There are a few couples dancing about, enjoying the entertainment. People say that once you hear this music and taste the sweet drink of the dancers, you’ll never want to leave. Sounds magical, but I’m certain it’s just a bunch of broo-ha-ha. The shade of the trees is nice, and if you find the right spot, you can hear Dashing Danny, the tuba player, blow his horn. Just…try not to go deaf, please. We are not responsible for hearing loss.

Number 3, The Bridge and Lake: A very scenic little bridge that crosses a stream leading to the small lake in the park. Here you can enjoy a romantic stroll with a sweetheart, playing in the stream water, feed the ducks, or even sail a toy boat or two. Make sure you don’t feed the fish though; they tend to get a bit overzealous and start splashing around and making a ruckus. And please be careful of the ducks; they tend to hide in the reeds from time to time and leap out to scare unsuspecting children. I also heard there’s something living under the bridge that likes to…bother our visitors. I’m sure it’s nothing but an oversized duck, but be careful just the same and…well, the bridge is rather lovely, but…not the most stable of things. We should really get that repaired.

Number 4, The Forested Area: This is a part of the park not often frequented by the older generation. They say spirits and fairies and ancient folk live here, and most adults are wary of the old superstitions. The edges of the forest are bright and cheerful, lined with little wild flowers and very inviting. But the deeper you go, the darker and more foreboding it may be. And sometimes, if you listen really closely, you can hear one of the fair folk call out to you. But I caution not to follow that voice; many have gone in, but only few have come out. Or so the old legends say…

Number 5, The Field of Flowers: This is a lovely field of flowers. So pretty, so innocent. Well, almost. There’s supposedly some kind of weird ankle biter in here that likes to pull pranks and bite unsuspecting people’s ankles and then run off. But otherwise, this field is very vast, almost never-ending, it seems. It is full of flowers of all sizes, shapes and colors. Some of them are even said to have special powers. I don’t believe that for a minute, of course; after all, it’s just an ordinary park in the middle of an ordinary city. Right?

Laksimi loved the park. Well, maybe that was phrased wrongly - Laksimi loved the ducks in the park. Not just in this park, but wherever she could find them. So clearly, when her parents had allowed her to go out and play a bit, Laksimi had gotten her bag, her snail-box and all the bread she had found and had set out to feed some duckies and spend time with them.

However, while being on her way towards the lake she had heard about, she stumbled upon this Socross talking about finding eggs to some others. Laksimi immediately grew suspicious. "Excuse me?" As soon as the other people had left, Laksimi approached Boris. "I'm Laksimi and I'm six! And I want to become a professional duckie-expert! I heard you talking about eggs! Are these eggs duckie-eggs? Because you shouldn't hide them! Imagine if the baby-duckie hatches and the mommy isn't around! The baby-duckie would be so scared! I cannot allow that!" She narrowed her eyes at the large book the Socross was holding. "Is that a book about duckies? I bet it is! Who wouldn't want to read about duckies, after all!" Laksimi wondered if this weird fellow knew what he was doing. "I want to help all duckies! So if you are hiding duckie-eggs here, I want to find them so that the baby-duckies are with their mommy-duckies! And if even a single baby-duckie gets unhappy, I'll make all my duckie-friends come over and poo on your head!"

Laksimi, clearly, was not impressed with the Socross at all, but then again, she also hadn't seen the flyers - and couldn't read all that well to begin with anyway.

Nanashi was not often away from the estate, and when he was it was often because he'd been shooed off, or when nobody had time for him. Today was hardly any different. Most everyone was busy with spring cleaning, and though he'd tried in earnest to help, he hadn't gotten very far. The kinder ones chalked it up to his naïveté, while others who were less patient had griped about his ineptitude until he took the hint and left by himself.

The park was as good a place as any for a ghost to wander, and wander he did. It was refreshing to see places that were not always covered with snow. He did so love the winter, but centuries of it was enough to make even him tire of it a little. And now that he had seen this strange Socross, he was glad he had come along after all. "Um, m-may I join in?" he asked timidly, floating forward to reveal himself. It all sounded like so much fun! And if he won a nice prize and brought it home, he was sure everyone would see that he'd been productive all this time.

This wasn't what he would call the best thing to do on his day off, but it was better than nothing. He sighed, his large trench coat heaving up and down with his shoulders. It was warm in the park, but it wasn't anything compared to what he endured int he Mojave.
A hunt, that's what he was doing? Well, it might be fun. So he decided he would give it a try. Walking up he took a spot behind the few that had gathered.
"Hey, can I join?" He asked in a tired voice.
He hoped tomorrow would never come. He did not want to head back to work.

"Community Service!? Oh man, what is this? Do I look like some goddamn baby-sitter to you, huh? Jail would be a sight nicer than this bull."

The officer pulled a sympathetic face. "Look, you just shoplifted food, there's not a-"

"Food? What. So. That's not good enough for you, huh?" Allie scowled heavily and folded her arms across her chest. "Well then. Stay right here, let me go break into a jeweler's for you then."

As the irritated woman turned to leave, the man caught her by the arm and steered her around. "Nope. You're staying here and I'm going to patrol the park so you don't take off. Got it?" His tone had suddenly got severe.

Allie sighed, and flicked a defiant hair out of her face. "Fiiiine. Whatever."

The officer brightened up again and motioned for Allie to follow and the Kuhna-woman begrudgingly followed. A short while later, they were in the park, surrounded by the trees, to where a small girl was waiting. "Here you go Allie, have fun~" With a smirk the officer spun around and walked off.

Allie rolled her eyes and turned to the girl. She was young maybe 13, and dressed dark denim jeans and a contrasting pale lavender shirt, both appeared to be way too big for her though. All in all, she seemed like a quiet girl, so hopefully not a problem; though there was something unusual about her eyes. "Hey, are you the thief?" The girl spoke up, not sounding as shy as she appeared.

Allie smirked. At least the kid recognised who she was dealing with. "Yep. I'm Allie. And you're gonna listen to what I say, okay? No stupid kid stuff, like crying and all that."

The girl shrugged, her face unrecognisable under her long soft sandy-blonde hair. "Whatever you say. I'm Naomi. And you're supposed to come with me to this hunt thing. Since my foster parents can't get out of the farm." Naomi tilted her head and moved to touch the thief's hand - an innocent, childish gesture - but as Naomi expected, Allie smoothly dodged it. Naomi pouted a little, just a little bit curious in seeing the thief's past, or perhaps her future. Naomi was a psychic, one who could on occasion access another person's past or future, usually to give them an important message, or a stern reminder. The odd glimmer that Allie had noticed was a learned look, one of an older, wiser person, but Allie had been unable to recognise it.

"Hey. Me and the kid would like to join this.. uh, thing you got goin' on here." Allie stated flatly, prepared to have the worst day of her life.

Stare in the darkness
Are you scared? Are you free?
I can be fair or a monster
Tell me now, which one do you need?

I can feel teeth tear into me
Rip me to pieces, rock me to sleep
I can feel eyes staring at me
Getting uneasy, ready to feed
I can feel teeth

Cloverta was excited for the hunt, only this time, she was hunting eggs. She had seen a Socross reading a rather large book near the entrance, and he had shown her into the park. She saw a few other hunters, in the park, but there were still lots of people there. She walked towards the picnic table to sit down and wait for the hunt to begin. This was going to be fun.

Ugh. There were so many of them. First a fox that was talking nonsense about duckies, then some floaty, weird wolf thing with frost around it, then there was a Socross gone human (which he didn’t mind all that much, but he was MUCH cuter as a Socross) then there was some weird fenling and a Kuhna with a bad attitude, and to top it all off, some very BLIND paragon who simply walked past him and thought she could go to the picnic tables without his approval. Hmph. Kids today. Anyway…Boris set his book down at his feet, and promptly stood on to of it like a podium. “Attention annoying people!” he called over the crowd. “You are all free to begin your hunt. I’d like to remind everyone that the sponsors of this contest are not responsible for loss of limb or life, and that by agreeing to find these eggs, you are signing a verbal contract - I have witnesses!” He cleared his throat, spreading his tiny claws wide. “Now get out of here. I’ve got to get back to my book.” He carefully climbed down off of his book-gone-podium, and promptly opened the dusty old tome, sticking his nose back in and ignoring everyone while muttering what sounded suspiciously like ‘Stupid annoying idiots.’

((Okay! I’d like to remind people to read ALL the rules please. If you haven’t, make sure you go back and do so. Your ten posts begin now. Remember, you don’t HAVE to wait for me to post back to you if you want to search; you’re free to continue posting, but if you want events to happen as well as a hint as to what you’ll find and how likely it is you’ll find something, you can wait for my post. Do not power play my characters; they’re here to move the game along, that’s all~ And remember to bold if you are ‘moving‘ or ‘searching‘ and to add your post count at the end of each of your posts~ Also a note: every egg will be different with a different prize; when you find an egg, you may make an exit post and then leave and a spot will open up for round two. Thanks!))

Laksimi had, quite frankly, no idea what the Socross had said. What was a 'contract'? What was a 'sponsor'? Laksimi hated adult-talk, it was so hard to understand! But well, she didn't care much in the first place. After all, she had come here to feed duckies and that was what she would do! She also would look for any eggs she would find along the way, though, but since there were so many others helping as well - everyone loved duckies, after all - Laksimi was sure that there would be no unhappy baby-duckies in the end!

Well, for now, she needed to find the lake and, with that, the duckies! She could hear some water running a bit in the distance, so obviously, this was the way to go. Walking into the general direction, Laksimi walked past the picnic tables and blankets. A lot of people were here and other children as well. Laksimi liked to play hide and seek, too, but duckies were always the top priority and so, she sped up after a bit. Since the area was pretty open, she couldn't imagine that she would find any duckie-eggs here anyway without basically stumbling over them and with the prospect of feeding duckies, Laksimi finally started rushing towards where she heard the water and finally - or was she imagining it? - even the quacking of ducks coming closer. "Duckiiiiiiiiiiiiiies!" Already ridiculously excited, Laksimi started shouting for her little friends at the top of her lungs, possibly startling people around her, and dashed towards the lake.

Cloverta was finally in a egg hunt. She had waited many a day for one to open, and now it was finally her chance. She was still standing around the picnic tables. Most of the people had left for other areas so she decided to run around there and find some eggs. She checked under the tables and benches, in the tree, under the picnic blanket and in the baskets full of food. She wasn't really sure if she had found any eggs, but she had found lots of ants. She shooed them off of the baskets, and blanket and continued her search. There were many little children running around too, hopefully they didn't take all the eggs.

"Duckiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiies!" Laksimi had, indeed, arrived at the lake and rushed right up to where she saw the ducks swimming. "Helloooooo, duckiiiiiies! Do you want some duckie-fooooood?! My name is Laksimi and I'm six and I loooooove you!" Different from the ducks at the Chateau who were either used to Laksimi's yelling yet or had simply gone deaf by now, the ducks here instinctively started to swim away from the young Fellox, some even so startled that they took flight. But Laksimi got out her snail-box and bread right away and started baiting them with food. "I have snaaaaaails!" she advertised and looked straight at a male ducks who was eying the Fellox suspiciously. Laksimi needed a second, then she nodded. "Hello Mooooortimer! Nice to meeeeet you!" She was pretty sure the duck was called that - after all, she was a duckie-expert and had to know these things. Pushing some bread into the direction of the now-dubbed Mortimer, she looked around for more ducks who were now approaching because they saw that there was food.

There also were some fish swimming towards her, though. Laksimi glared at them as if they had personally offended her. "Fish! Don't you dare to steal the duckie-bread!" she told them sternly. It wasn't that Laksimi disliked fish, but they simply weren't duckies. She understood that the poor fish were probably really upset about not being duckies, but she only had a limited amount of bread and since she wanted the fluffy birds to stay with her as long as possible, she obviously had none for sharing.

There was also some reed nearby - maybe there were more duckies in there? "Duuuuuuckiiiiiiies!" she called, hoping to attract more ducks to look at.

Jackie:

The egg didn’t appear to be anywhere nearby. Of course, Cloverta might not be looking in the correct place. A rather bored looking young woman who had the ears and tail and bright colors of a Tali was sitting near the benches, watching quietly. “Hey you,” she called, finally fed up with the paragon making too much noise and disturbing all the food. “Your chances of finding something here are poor, so why don’t you scram? You’re disturbing the ants.” She pointed to a line of distraught looking ants (Or as distraught as tiny bugs could look) who were trying to get their lines back together after being unceremoniously shooed away by the paragon.

Shieba:

Mortimer, or the newly named Mortimer, as it was, eyed the food suspiciously. After a few moments, the ‘duck’ swam towards it and gobbled up the bread. He stared at Laksimi for a moment, before opening his beak and-

“You know, you shouldn’t play around the water’s edge.”

Mortimer had indeed spoken. It appeared as though he wasn’t quite the most…normal duck, after all. He swam over towards the edge of the stream, where Laksimi was currently standing. “And we’re not duckies.” He cleared his throat. “But since you seem very young, I’ll let it slide.” he knew children tended to be stupid from time to time; this one didn’t seem to be an exception. Mortimer wasn’t fond of children. “And my name isn’t Mortimer. But I doubt you could pronounce my actual name in your tongue, so I’ll let that slide too.” Mortimer paddeld through the water, flapping his wings. “Listen, kid. Since you’re here. I need a favor. See, there’s this…thing living in the water here, and it’s been eating the baby ducks. I can’t get rid of it, and I need someone who can scare it away. If you help me, I’ll help you find that thing that you’re looking for. The chances of finding it here are very good. But only if you help me.”

I love adventurous tales like that. That uplifting feeling that comes from seeing unknown lands and the knowledge that you came across—nothing can replace it! It opens a path from which self-confidence, experience, and important friendships—from the sharing of life or death situations—are born! But hearing it just isn’t the same. I want to create my own magnificent story!

A great adventure!

Laksimi had stopped in her frantic search for more duckies the second Mortimer had spoken. She stared wide-eyed at him while he talked to her and even afterwards a few seconds longer and then--

"Yaaaaaaay! I diiiiiiiiiiiiiid it! I have become a professional duckie-expert and now can understand and speak duckie-language perfectly!" she announced as loud as she could to everyone walking by and probably even quite a bit away. Then, she turned back towards Mortimer. "Now that I am a professional duckie-expert, I will spend the whole day with duckies and do whatever a professional duckie-expert does!" She wasn't quite sure what exactly to make of the fact that Mortimer had told that he and the other duckies weren't...duckies. That was a bit strange, honestly, because they obviously were and Laksimi, now a professional duckie-expert, couldn't be mistaken. But now that she could actually communicate with her beloved birds, there was something she just simply had to ask (as excited and loud as possible, of course) because she had always wanted to... "Mortimer! May I toooouch you? I always wanted to touch a duckie because you all look soooo soft and fluffy, but when I try, all duckies run awaaaay and get stressed and I would never want to stress you duckiiiiiies so I never doooo!"

Well, but besides all the excitement of her sudden promotion, Laksimi obviously hadn't missed what Mortimer had told her. "Someone eats the duckie-babies? Nooooo! It's an evil person! I heard about them!" This couldn't stand! No one was allowed to harm duckies! Laksimi narrowed her eyes. "It's that guy with the book! He already kidnapped baby-duckie-eggs and hid them! Surely he eats duckie-babies as well! I will help yoooou! I help all duckies because I love you soooo much and duckies are best!" Laksimi wanted to just storm back and unleash her fury upon the Socross, but Mortimer had obviously had a plan and duckies were clearly the smartest animals ever, so she better should listen to him first. Maybe he had told all his friends already and they were now a duckie-army! The idea of having an army of hundreds of duckies behind her was amazing! So Laksimi didn't really know how much 'hundreds' were since she could only count to twenty so far, but clearly, it had to be many duckies and her father had told her that an army had hundreds of members, so this would be amazing! "Tell me what to doooooo, Mortimer!"

I know my dreams are made of you
Of you and only for you
Your ocean pulls me under
Your voice tears me asunder
Love me before the last petal falls

However cold the wind and rain
I'll be there to ease your pain
However cruel the mirrors of sin
Remember beauty is found within

The Socross didn't seem terribly friendly; it called him an unpleasant-sounding word, and seemed cross when Nanashi hadn't done anything but ask to join. That was the point of an event, wasn't it? To have people join in? Truthfully he didn't know a great many things, but he thought that was the right idea. Still, there wasn't anything he could do about it now. He'd apparently been given permission to start, and quitting at this point would probably make that Socross even more unhappy... After milling about indecisively for a while, he decided that he didn't want to stick around near the picnic tables. Food wasn't something he could partake in, and being there just made him depressed because he could certainly still smell everything, and people looked happy when they ate too.

There was a Fellox near the water, and she was colored a little like the Albie he saw sometimes from his window at home, but more in purples. She was going on about duckies, whatever those were, and she reminded him a little of the Fellox with the bunnies that Nanashi had encountered a little while ago... Perhaps they were related. They didn't look much alike, but he wondered if they got along. He wanted to approach and ask, but he was suddenly nervous, and it seemed as if she was busy... The only unoccupied area (as far as other searchers were concerned, anyways) was the wood shack thing.

It was a very strange wood shack, Nanashi noted, approaching it warily. It had no proper walls, just ones that came up to his chest more or less, and wouldn't have kept out more than a little rain. It certainly wouldn't have kept out the snow and cold. "How curious," he said aloud (or rather, thought aloud, for he could not properly speak. Whatever could it be used for? It baffled him utterly, for he was certain that nobody could ever live here on the scant shelter it provided, and besides that the thing was situated in the middle of a park. It was almost enough to make him forget about all the people held within, until the music started again.

"Hello? Misters and Missus Shack Residents?" he asked, a little afraid to go in for fear that he might actually come across someone.

Shieba:

“Eyeaaaaah,” Mortimer muttered, rolling his eyes at the child-like fox. “Listen, kid. I’d rather you didn’t touch me…but whatever. If it’ll get you to help me, you can pet my feathers. But don’t ruffle them; it takes forever to get my feathers lookin’ this good.” While he waited to be ‘petted’ (He really hated the idea) he decided to explain. “See, there’s this thing called a Panlong that lives here in this stream. It’s really annoying ‘cuz it eats the baby ducks. Or, at least, I think it does. I mean, our babies are disappearing and it only happens when the Panlong comes around.” He leaned in to whisper conspiratorially. “A Panlong is a type of really small dragon. He only shows up when he hears the sound of our baby ducks. Problem is, we don’t want him to take them, so they’re hidden. If you could make the baby duck sounds, since you’re an expert and all, and get him to show himself, maybe you can scare him away?” He considered for a moment. “He’ll be smaller than you, so maybe you can frighten him. If you can help us, then I’ll help you find the out of the ordinary prize egg that’s hidden here.” I don’t think all was as it seemed here, but maybe if you summoned the dragon, you could figure out what was really going on.

Wait, what? What did he say? He said something about 'loss of limbs'. So does that mean this place was dangerous? Why was it dangerous? It was a hunt, for crying out loud. He shrugged, probably just a way to scare them. Or at least, he hoped. Last think he needed was to get hurt while on brake. His commanding officer would kill him if he did.
Whether there was danger or not, he decided he'd better get a move on. The others had already taken off while he was pondering on what the host had said. Now he was behind, would he find anything good? He shook his head, best not to dwell on it and just go.
Right, he decided to head for the gazebo. The music coming from it seemed to draw him towards it. He wondered if they would play request. The thought of hearing some Frank Sinatra right now would ease his worried mind. That and help calm his nerves.
