A Candle Shinzo flew through the air, the heat of the lava from the volcanoes making him close his eyes and give gutteral sound of pleasure. He flew around the volcano, looking for a good spot to land. He felt at home here. At his pen, he was a good friend of Rena, but because he causes fires, Marie had made him stay in water. It had made him feel weak, that water. Rena argued against it, but her sister had worn her down. All of the zoo's lives should be put into consideration before only one life. He could have burnt down the house. Ever since he'd evolved, Rena has been trying to keep him out of the house, so he wouldn't be weakened by those water tanks. "Curse those water tanks." he hissed. He didn't want to go home now. It was all too comfortable. Maybe Rena could come and live here with him. He would like that. They could make a house out of basalt, paint it white, so it's nice and bright. He smiled. It was a good idea, but he had to focus on the meeting ahead. He wondered what they'd talk about there.

Another speck appeared, this one slightly smaller than the previous.  Its flamey wings were fully flared, however, as though it were trying to make itself bigger than actuality provided.  It flew almost clumsily, if such a thing were possible.  It was flapping too hard to actually have any effect; it was evident that this Candle Shinzo did everything bigger, more apparently than need be.  He was like a tiny dog, in some ways.  To make up for his size, he made everything else about himself exaggerated, like the way a toy poodle has the highest pitch possible when it yips and yaps.

When he caught sight of the other of his kind, he flapped even harder to come up beside said Shinzo.  His grin was huge as he introduced himself--rather loudly, I might add.

Hello.  I'm Noris.  Where is this meeting I've been hearing about?

He was pleased with how grown-up that sentence sounded, and puffed out his chest to illustrate his pleasure.  Unfortunately, by doing so he threw himself off balance, stumbling behind the other avian a few wingbeats.

How graceful.

Flame

Another shinzo had come, just in time to see the second arrival stumble in midair. She was slightly smaller, about the same size as that one that stumbled. She giggled and flew forward, with amazing speed, until she was above the two. Looking down, she called out. "Hi. My name's flame! What are yours?" she said happily. Flame was graceful...sometimes...and, often happy, had amazing speed despite her small size. Due to this, she was often troublesome at home. She never burnt anything but sand, but she acted like a young child, so like other young children, she was hard to contain. Her "family" hoped she would learn something by being with her own kind...which she had never personally met.

Another Shinzo flew in, circling around the small group several times. Finally, she landed in the center gracefully, before bowing. "Hello, friends!" she greeted. "I am Fire That Burns Like the Sun, but you may call me FireSun."

Dripp nodded to each of them and landed. He let himself drop gracefully onto the basalt from an earlier eruption. "Hello all, I am known as Dripping Wax, but you may call me Dripp. I am from the cold reaches of the earth, oddly enough, and I wanted to talk to you all about..." he trailed off. What were they to talk about? He felt like a child, with nothing to say. "Let's start with... how does everyone like their new forms?" he asked. He wasn't sure if this was a very good question, but it might get this meeting somewhere. Maybe they could bo off and find some hot coals, that'd be fun. He remembered Rena reading him a book about owl colliers. Maybe he could teach them how to do that. That is, if he could master it himself. He hadn't much time to fly, he'd just evolved, like most. They would all learn, he supposed.

FireSun smiled. "Well I have been recently traded, and I loved my other home." SHe began. "But I LOVE my new home with Amber, she's so kind." Then she smiled. "And I have made friends with lots of the other pets." She shook herself, causing embers to fly off. "My new form is interesting, and I think I look better. It makes me feel much more confident."

Dripp nodded. "Thank you, miss... Fire, was it? Well, why don't we hear from you, Flame, or would Noris like to speak?" he asked the two. He could barely distingush which was which, they all looked the same. He sighed and rubbed his temples. He felt a headache coming on, but he didn't know why. A rumbling of an active volcano could be heard, he ignored it.

FireSun looked down. "My name is FireSun." she said flatly. She was being shy, and it was no wonder the "leader" forgot her name. She looked at the two others waiting for an answer. Then she looked at the leader, Dripp, and noticed him looking frustrated. She was too.

Noris clumsily alighted, and tried to sit still and quiet as the other two Shinzos exchanged greetings.  Now that he was sitting, it was rather easy to distinguish him from the others by size alone; he was small, very small.  You'd never know it, though, by the important way he puffed his chest out.

As FireSun talked of her new home, his head snapped up, and his mouth snapped open.  Oh!  I know you!  You used to live at my pen with Sophur, didn't you?  We never actually talked, but I knew you!  I saw you around I lot!  I knew I recognized you from somewhere!  His smile the slowly faded as he shrunk back into a sitting position, his cheeks flaring with warmth.  That was a rather...err...childish outburst.  If he talked like that, no one would ever treat him like an adult.

He then addressed Dripp's question.  I like it a lot, sir.  It's very...  He struggled for the word.  Useful.

Flame giggled and landed with the others. "Yeah I'm Flame!" she said. "As for our new form, I love it! I especially like flying!" she giggled. Then she fell silent. She could never fly in her old form, and wasn't sure if she was supposed to be able to. She, unlike the others, COULD remember the names. Dripp-the leader, Noris-the small and clumsy one, and FireSun-the other female.

Dripp nodded to each of them. "Thank you, both. Now, does anyone have anything else to talk about? Or would you like me to go on?" he asked. He looked at FireSun. Why didn't she just like Fire? FireSun... a bit odd for his taste, but he wouldn't critisize. He felt most comfortable in this form. He felt graceful, intelligent. He flicked his pointed tail with enjoyment at the other Shinzo's company.

Something else to talk about... Flame thought, cocking her head. "Nope. I got nada." she said, then she giggled. "Nada, nothing, zip, zilch, non, niente, none!" she cried then she did something odd with her paws/hands that looked like sign language. She lauched herself off the rock, and twirled in the air several times. Then in a blink, she dove down and was hovering above Dripp. With another happy giggle, she landed next to him.

FireSun smiled at Noris. "Yes, I do recall seeing you quite often, a shame we never got to speak!" Then she looked at Dripp, who was staring at her with a puzzled look on his face. She blushed rapidly. "Is....is anything wrong?" she asked him, and she scooted uncomfortably.

He shook his head. "No, no... just staring off into space, really." he said. He looked over at Noris. "Noris, do you have anything to say at this meeting?" he asked the smaller Candle Shinzo. He noticed he was trying to look grown up, impressive. He smiled, he loved to watch the young ones. He was near adulthood, and he missed being the little Lubshi that Rena would cuddle to no end.

Yes, as a matter of fact.  Oooh, that had sounded mature!  He should use fancy phrases and big words more often.  It has me confoundedly unanimated that the sizeable dexterity of out eloquent wings infrequently becomes hassleful when attempting complex aerial maneuvers.

...He had no idea what he just said.  Really, he had no clue. But to him, it sounded important, and he grinned proudly.
