Once a grand cathedral dedicated to the Holy Triumvirate, all that remains now are ruins ever since the religion was rejected strongly in 1823. While the religion is back in favor, the cathedral was never restored. (+3 Defense, +2 Offense)

Louise was hesitant to come to this place; she wouldn't deny such. If it weren't for Ian's insistence on this particular trip, she wouldn't be sitting on these worn-down cathedral benches at this moment. It was almost depressing to the blonde to see a place of worship such as this in such a state. She could see the brilliance that this place had once certainly held, and could imagine even a hundred people or more filing in to fill this place's seats on a day on a day of worship. Louise could imagine a preacher standing on the pedy teestal up there, reciting a holy text, and it almost made her a bit homesick.

The petite woman fought off these feelings however, absentmindedly fiddling with a chipped piece of wood on the cathedral's bench. Ian said he had someone he wanted her to meet here. A demon, apparently... Louise wasn't exactly opposed to meeting new people, though it wasn't an activity in which she cared to partake. She was almost getting anxious thinking about the time she could be spending at her workshop right now, studying, reading farther in her texts, rather than sitting here staring blankly at the decaying stone angel situated behind the pedestal.

Angel... That was right. She had to remember her place. She was an angel in a demon's den. (Well... perhaps a cathedral wasn't the ideal hangout for demons, though surely the comparison could be seen.) All that was left to do now as late. The chances of of an unrelated being strolling into this place now of all times was highly likely; she had naught to fret over.

A beautiful moon shines above again tonight,
And it sheds light happily over the world.
As for me, I'm just worthless, good for nothing,
Dreaming at daybreak, creeping at dawn.

Still I'll scream into the sky, hoping that somebody will find me.
I want to run, but there's no way out--
No bright future in sight.
But I still fly up like a butterfly, hoping that you'll find me.
A crescent moon, ugly children of the stars, flying with broken wings...!

What on earth was he doing? As far as horrible, terrible ideas, this was by far the worst one Tripp had ever had the misfortune to think up. Tucked away in the rafters of the crumbling ceiling, Tripp mentally smacked himself over and over. He really needed to give that Ian a piece of his mind. That darned demon knew that Tripp was unable to function in basic social encounters. Especially when it came to beings that weren't even demonic...

Tripp glanced down below him, crossing his bat talons for luck. No such thing. The angel was still there. The ex-angel. Tripp swallowed, his little bat heart speeding up to probably dangerous levels. Curse that Ian. Angels didn't belong in their grimy world. Gathering up his courage, Tripp let go of the rafters and flapped down, landing on the back of the church pew. Not looking anywhere near the angel (Tripp had to do this to maintain his courage), Tripp cleared his throat, puffing his little bat chest out. He could take a more humanoid form, like other demons sometimes did, but Tripp felt a little safer, in his natural batty state. "Ahem. Miss Louise?"

Louise'd be lying if she were to claim that the sudden appearance of the little Batti caused her no alarm. She was expecting a human (rather, demon) man, so her senses had not been attuned to the smaller shifts in the environment around her. It had been a long while since she had even seen anyone she knew outside of their more humanoid appearance. Still, Louise put on her most pleasant smile and turned to face the little Batti. Considering the man knew her name, it was no mistake. She could only wonder who Ian had decided to buddy her up with.

"Ah, yes. That is me," she replied quaintly, standing from the bench and turning the face the man respectfully. "And you would be? I apologize... Ian had not mentioned your name..." In saying those words, her voice adopted a rather guilty tone. He knew her name, yet she knew not a thing about him, aside from his race and his relation to Ian.

Tripp stiffened slightly, his nervousness making him freeze up. He glanced at the angel's––Louise's––face for a moment, then quickly glanced away. "My name is Tripp Trappington. I'm not surprised that Ian didn't tell you my name. He tends to leave out important details like that." Tripp's voice had settled back into his usual begrudging tone, instead of the stiff, formal tone he had adopted. Clearing his throat again, the batti returned back to the subject at hand. Crap, what was the subject? His practiced plans flew out of his head as he glanced at Louise, and he scrambled for something coherent to say. "You––do you like the demon world? You've had time to settle in, I presume?"

"It's nice to meet you then, Tripp! Oh, in that case... my full name is Louise Langridge Morand." The woman offered him a short bow before she on a bench behind the one on which she had been sitting previously. Talking in this way would certainly be easier, she concluded.

She nodded at his question. Louise was still wary of every demon who even glanced in her direction, but that was to be expected, taking into account her race. She imagined that many of them wouldn't take very kindly to living alongside a person who is supposed to be their mortal enemy. "It's... sort of curious. I can't say whether I like Evelon or the Underworld better. Ah-- But that's probably strange to hear, coming from the lips of an angel, isn't it?"

Tripp shook his head back and forth, his large ears flapping slightly in the breeze. Straightening himself up, Tripp blinked at Louise. Or rather, her shoulder. Eye contact was still completely out of the question. "Not especially. I'm surprised that you can stand to live in the Underworld. It's... quite filthy, at times. Many demons would probably take that as a compliment, if you told them that." Tripp chuckled, shaking his head at the idiocy of some of the lower demons. "I imagine it's a bit of a letdown after living in Heaven."

"Ah, I've gotten used to it though. I've lived there for maybe... three hundred years now? So it's okay!"

She couldn't deny Tripp's words, on the other hand. While she had in fact gotten used to the place, her first trip out into the countryside was quite the shocker. Fortunately, her husband lived in the capital, and so the place actually looked a big pretty from time to time. (Even Ian is privileged in the way that he lives in a more... aesthetically pleasing small town.) Heaven was much better maintained, though she couldn't say that she disliked the Underworld, either. Simply, she had never given much thought to it before now.

"My favorite is the capital. It can actually look very beautiful there, depending on where you go. Have you been there? Do you work there?"

Three hundred years ago? That was only a few years after Tripp was born! Adding the age difference to the constantly growing list of why his romance would never work out, Tripp debated on whether or not he should just fly away, and never return. This was hopeless from the start. Glancing at Louise again, his eyes softened, and he turned back to face the angel. "I... I do work in the capital. I don't have much time to really explore any of the areas beyond my work and home, but it's a pretty nice place to live, I suppose. If you like cities. I've never really spent time outside of it. This is the farthest that I have gone beyond the borders of the Underworld." Tripp shrugged sheepishly, nervously scratching his wing with a claw.

Quite absentmindedly, Louise wondered how old Tripp was. Such a thing would be rude to ask however, so she simply pushed the question to the back of her mind. "Haha, is that so? I used to live in the capital with my husband. It was nice, in comparison to some of the other places he had taken me to tour. But since then..." Louise's face lit up red, and she stumbled over the last of her sentence. Wide-eyed, she had realized she'd said too much. Still on and on about her husband as per the norm, huh? Louise was certain Ian would scold her about this if word got to him.

"O-oh, I'm sorry. Never mind! There's some towns around that aren't the greatest, haha." Louise covered up her slip of tongue with a light-hearted laugh and a smile.

Husband... right. He was dead, right? Tripp shifted slightly, not sure how to feel about that. He shouldn't be happy about that, because it obviously was hurting Louise. But Tripp didn't really know the guy, either. Knowing Tripp's luck, Louise's dead husband probably was a big, powerful demon who could flick Tripp away with his pinky finger.

Now Louise was changing the conversation. That was a little odd. It was obvious that she was still thinking about her dead husband; it was written all over her face. Tripp tilted his head, blinking up at the angel, and without a thought to the consequences, he asked. "What was your husband like?"

Louise supposed that her attempts to shift the topic of conversation had flown straight over Tripp's head. Oh well. It was her fault for bringing up such a thing in the first place, she concluded. With a sigh, she looked up at the cathedral's tall ceiling. "Well he was very kind. It was a bit surprising, haha. He didn't hate angels at all. Like you, I suppose. He wanted to know more about me and how I lived, but my family and those back home were... very strongly objected to the idea. He was very smart as well and he'd never let anyone change his views. I guess he was a bit hard-headed, in that sense. He didn't want me to live in the Underworld with him, but I didn't want him to have to move because of me. I guess I won out in the end, huh?"

Tripp shifted slightly, a little uncomfortable with the idea that he was similar to Louise's dead husband. He didn't really want to be similar to a dead man. That just seemed unlucky to the small bat. He brushed off his wing, clearing his throat before he responded. "I think I'd have to agree with your husband. The Underworld's no place for any decent people. 'Specially an angel. It's full of nasty demons. I dunno how many of us you've met, but half of us are cowards, and the other half are bullies."

"But there are some nice demons out there!" Louise reminded Tripp with a tiny laugh. "Like you, and him. Although Ian's definitely a bully." She narrowed her eyes in thought, and made a face to go along with it. Only a jest, only a jest. Her smile returned in just a moment. "On that note though, I will admit that politics are... really something else, over there." Louise had never been involved in them personally, but she had heard horror stories from her husband and a handful of his acquaintances. The newspaper covered a multitude of issues present in politics as well, but it never painted the picture quite as true as it was painted through would of mouth.

Tripp rolled his eyes at the mention of politics. "Try working in that mess," he muttered, crossing his wings in front of him. "It's a miracle that we can get anything done in that chaos. Actually, I think the goal is that we don't get anything done. I'm pretty sure half the forms I fill out every day gets sent straight to the incinerator. Or some other fool eats it." Tripp shook his head. "But anyway, Louise. I'm not sure who your husband was, so maybe he was different. But I know that all demons have ulterior motives. Myself included. We're all self-serving bastards, so if you're gonna live down there, you better have your guard up. You angels are too naive, and I just... Someone's gotta warn ya'."

"I know!" she replied simply, a bright grin flashing across her face. "I know... He was interested in angels, that's all. Marrying me was the perfect chance to get to know more! But I think um... I think he really did grow to like me. So original intentions aside, he was a good man." Even Louise couldn't deny his accusations of naivety, especially when it concerned her. It made her chuckle hearing that, in fact. Ian always, always felt to remind her that she had the mindset of a little kid. She was naive, yet... Even Ian could appreciate her more thoughtful sentiments.

"Hey, Tripp-- What are your ulterior motives then? I want to know."
