.:Task 9:.

Postby Kyrit » 06/03/2013 9:43 PM

Tucked away in a small corner of the festival, there seemed to be a circle of people centered around one woman and a small little campfire. As you drew closer, you noticed it was Almysia, the woman that managed to get you to join this strange scavenger hunt of sorts. It didn't take long before her eyes caught yours and she smiled. "Well don't just stand there!" she called out, beckoning to one of the few empty seats around. "If you're here for Task 9, you need to be here in order to hear my part of the story, right? Hurry up and take a seat. I'm about to get started." Once everyone was settled in she cleared her throat and started in.

"You might find this a little strange... But I want to tell all of you about a pet of mine. You see, I was a soldier back in the war, or rather I guess you could say I was a medic. They figured out pretty quickly that I wasn't cut out for fighting when I started crying just from being handed a sword." She paused momentarily to let out a small chuckle upon thinking back to when she first joined the Purine army. "Being a medic, I actual did have to go out in the field a lot to try to help people. It was pretty hard mentally when... you couldn't save them all. There was this one guy that I saved though. He came back a few days later with a little egg, and it hatched right in my hands! It was the most adorable little thing and every time I felt down just looking at it made me feel better. Who would have thought that a Shii would have come out of the egg? It wasn't a normal one though, and in fact I'd never seen one like it before. It had an adorable little beak for some reason and while its main body color was green and brown, it had these vibrant blue markings that caught the eye......."

Many people seemed bored listening to her story, but every word from Almysia's lips sounded excited and like she truly wanted people to know about this little Shii. Perhaps you may remember the rest of the story and be able to fill us in with a piece of it?

(I hope this is the correct way to do this^^')
"As  some years went by and the Shii grew older, I was amazed on how soft hearted the little
one was.It always was there for me when I was feeling down, and, all tho it did not learn the
humanlanguage yet, seemed to somewhat understand most of what I was telling it. What was
weird tho, and a little bothering to me, was the following. Every night, it snuck to the window and stared out longingly, to what I guessed the stars. it It looked completely forlone then, no matter how happy
and fulfilled its day previously was."
Cannot say, I'm breaking the rules
If I can glue em back together.

"As my little Shii had been such a wonderful companion for me, I was bothered greatly that it seemed to wish for something - or maybe someone. I always got the impression that maybe, the Shii was waiting for someone to descend from the stars. It made me think of the soldier who had brought me the egg again. I hadn't seen him again because of the chaos of the war, but maybe he would know more about the little Shii which also looked so odd. I desperately wanted the Shii to be happy, so I wanted to find out what it was waiting and longing for and started asking around in the city for the soldier..."

I know my dreams are made of you
Of you and only for you
Your ocean pulls me under
Your voice tears me asunder
Love me before the last petal falls

However cold the wind and rain
I'll be there to ease your pain
However cruel the mirrors of sin
Remember beauty is found within

"No one could tell me where to find him. He had apparently left town some time ago without so much as a good-by to most of his acquaintances. Those who had seen him leave had no clue where he had gone, whether he had gotten back into the war or not, and whether he was actually still alive. I hated to think of the last, grave option, but he was a soldier by nature; anything was possible. Since asking around town seemed to be a dead end, I decided to do a bit of research both on my little Shii and ways to possibly keep it happy at the local library in the hopes of discovering for myself anything the soldier might have been able to tell me."

"Sadly, the books at the local library didn't have much useful information. There were a few little books on the Shii species as a whole, but not a one could recommend a reason or remedy for my little Shii's behavior. Nothing was written that I hadn't already learned the hard way, by having already raised one. What was worse, there was nothing mentioned about its physical oddities, either. I was left in quite the predicament, not a single step closer to discovering what to do, all while my little Shii only seemed to become more troubled. Then, one night, it occurred to me. Perhaps it needed to evolve."

"Now, I know that many pet species will evolve on their own, if left to their own devices, but my Shii had been with me for many years, and it was still as soft and round as the day it had hatched. But in some of my research about the Shii species, and all of those evolving pets, I had learned one thing: That somewhere out there, somewhere in Medicai City, there were scientists who had learned how to help pets evolve. I'd heard the rumors of the shady doctors who did such things in the back alleys of the world, of course, but I wanted a kind, reputable doctor who understood my Shii's predicament to help it. But that meant finding a way to go to Medicai.  How was a girl like me ever going to manage a trip like that?"

These lofty thoughts are killing me
Preoccupied by what I could be
I get so high on my ideas
Don't call me down
But you can meet me where I land.

I
Left the bay
In pursuit
Of lucid dreams
Now I
Drive for days
To make my way back to those old familiar places

"I researched, and it seemed that even the cheapest transportation would take several days and cost more money than I had. However, my little Shii seemed to be more aware of my predicament than I realized. One day, I realized it had disappeared, and immediately began to panic. However, it soon returned, with a golden bracelet in its mouth. At first I was overjoyed, but then I realized as I examined the bracelet that it bore the crest of a noble house..."
One more day before the storm!
At the barricades of freedom.
When our ranks begin to form
Will you take your place with me?

The time is now, the day is here!

One day to a new beginning
Every man will be a king
There's a new world for the winning

Do you hear the people sing?

Tomorrow we'll discover
What our God in Heaven has in store!
One more dawn
One more day
One day more!

"How did my little Shii acquire such a thing? Could this have been from the same noble house as the soldier? With this discovery I had more questions that needed answers, but for the sake of the little one I was determined to find them no matter what. I examined the bracelet further, tracing my finger over the crest that was engraved into it. It was a crest that was unfamiliar to me, but perhaps I could find someone here that knew more about it than I did..."

I wait to surface
Above these bellowed growls
To sweep the shallows of utopia
I am the anchor
And the rope around your feet
In a river deep I hold you down
Ive come to stage your abdication
Im the creation of your sins
Embrace me

"I returned to the library I'd initially visited, this time looking for information on the crest of the bracelet. There were a few noble families in this town, but they were usually kept away from the eyes of the public, or you simply couldn't get a good glimpse of them without someone rudely pushing you away. Still, I was willing to research every single royal family in the entire world of Evelon if it meant finding out what my little Shii companion needed, whether in order to evolve, or just to be as happy as possible. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, no book had any picture that looked anything like the crest, and it left me heartbroken that I had no lead to making my little Shii any happier. Seeing me so disheartened, my little Shii took the initiative and ran off again, but this time asking me to follow it to what I could only assume was to the place where it had found the bracelet..."

"So I followed the Shii, and it lead me deep into the woods. I had never been this far into these woods before, and I was a little nervous. But I trusted my Shii not to lead me wrong. It took a few hours to get to our destination, and when we got there I worried whether this was the right place. The building before us was a small little cottage, and there was a small stack of smoke rising from the chimney. I looked nervously to the Shii, but it seemed perfectly content and safe here. I closed my eyes to get my composure and followed my Shii up to the door and knocked lightly."

"The person who opened the door was an elderly, kind looking gentleman. He greeted me warmly and asked why I had come to his cottage. I told him about my Shii and how it found the golden bracelet here. Upon hearing this, the gentleman immediately smiled warmly and invited the two of us in. We sat down at his dining table and had some hot tea as he told me that he was the grandfather of the soldier who gave me the Shii, and he had helped care for its egg before it found its way to me."

“I showed him the bracelet and how it came into my possession and what I knew of it, since he seemed to have more knowledge of the shii than anyone else I’d met thus far. He seemed surprised about a lot of things that day, the fact that the egg hatched at all and the bracelet itself.
‘That egg has been in our family for a very long time, generations in fact. Not once has it shown sign of life much less signs of hatching, it needed the touch of someone of a very gentle nature, or so my mother use to say.’

The bracelet, he said, was from a noble family but not a human family which was likely the reason why I had such trouble finding any reference to it in the library.”

"The noble family in question were Kuchi Nagi, an ancient line that shied away from the more populated areas as humans spread. Communication between the species had been difficult, near impossible. They had retreated to the remotest areas of Evelon and had not been seen since the old man was young. The whole line were golden-scaled with the most impressive copper armors he said, and I was skeptical. I had never heard of such a Nagi nor seen a picture of a golden one."

"I knew then that if I was to help my Shii, that I had to find the Kuchi Nagi. The old man warned me of the dangers, but I wouldn't be deterred. There was something special about this Shii, and I felt compelled by the love I had for it. The Shii's eyes seemed to glow with excitement at the prospect of adventure. The old man asked one last time if my mind was set before handing me a crudely drawn map of the last known location of the golden scaled Nagi."

"So I set out to find the elusive Kuchi Nagi with this new lead.  I was determined to see this seemingly endless search to a conclusion, for the sake of my dearest Shii and for myself as well.  However, judging from the directions given on the poorly drawn map, it was not going to be a stroll through Terrace Park... not by any means.  It seemed that the last known location was somewhere very deep in what looked to the remote depths of...Tengel Forest.  Not many dared to venture too far in for there were numerous dangers in such a place ... but I could not turn back now, not when I the answers I sought seemed to be so close within my grasp!"
