Vicar and Arche

"Come on! We're already going to be in trouble later, so stop looking behind us!"

"But I thought I heard something..."

The little boy, a mop of untamed purple hair flowing down into his eyes and doing well to hid the small, curved horns on his head, turned around and made a growling face at the little girl. Arche looked to be a few years younger than her companion--maybe six or so while Vicar was easily nine or ten. "Of course you're hearing things. Because we're not supposed to be here. Now hurry up!"

Hugging her teddy bear closely to her, Arche gave a little sniffle and raced after the older boy--pink dress stained with Slum muck and black pigtails looking in need of fixing. The only smile since coming to this part of town came when she saw the little painted flowers. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen real ones before.

Vicar reached back and carefully grabbed her arm, pulling his younger sister into the building run by a very familiar face. Arche's eys were immediately captured by a Nebula Evren--for the simple fact it looked sparkly and was purple, and abandoned Vicar's side to go and coo over the creature.

Vicar, however, didn't look as thrilled. "He never told us he was keeping pets..." The young boy huffed, walking up to the desk to the red and cream skinned woman. He dug around in his pocket for a moment while she was locked in unfortunate conversation with a customer, but his attention was far from collecting the correct amount of change. The Albino Drakel--that had his attention. But unlike his sister it was not because the creature was pretty...no, there was something not fully...animal about it.

Nerly tossing up the fee onto the counter, Vicar's grimy little fingers grasped at the edge of the desk to help haul himself up high enough to see over it. "Arche and I wanna enter, Lady." He said hoarsely, making a show of trying to deepen and toughen up his voice. He peered around, and the act quickly diminished.

"Arche wants 2, but I want 7...so we decided we'd ask for number 27...mostly so Arche won't cry the whole way home. And...can you...maybe not tell Rev we were here? He'll already be awfully mad we used some of his money..."

With that he let himself drop to the floor and gathered Arche back to her feet. As they ran from the building Arche smiled and waved goodbye first to the woman in charge, and then to the Nebula Evren. She sure hoped Vicar had told the lady they wanted that one...

(My top three in order of most wanted to least: Albino Drakel, Nebula Evren, or Imeut. Should I be drawn for either breedable, please give it to another user. ^^ )
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

The woman had been bombarded by each separate person as they flounced into her shop. Silently, she cursed Rev for forcing her into this. She wasn’t a babysitter for a bunch of unwanted animals; she was a hunter, a bodyguard. She wasn’t a lowly shop clerk. But she suffered in silence, taking each person’s hard earned keystones and depositing them into a box behind her. She watched each patron as they eyed the pets, claiming which ones they’d ‘love to have.’ She snorted; as if she had time to divvy out the merchandise according to preference.

But then, Rev had instructed her to be utterly kind to the patrons (Thus encouraging repeat business; he was new at all this, but even he knew one had to have clientele) and utterly kind --well, maybe not kind, but at least nice-- she would be. Growling softly, her eyes scanned over the parchment and the names, silently willing this day to be over. “Very well,” she said quietly, crossing off each name that was not chosen from the list. “The winners are to be announced. Hopefully I won’t be forced into doing this again.” She paused thoughtfully. “I can’t say how ‘nice’ I’ll be next time.”

I love adventurous tales like that. That uplifting feeling that comes from seeing unknown lands and the knowledge that you came across—nothing can replace it! It opens a path from which self-confidence, experience, and important friendships—from the sharing of life or death situations—are born! But hearing it just isn’t the same. I want to create my own magnificent story!

A great adventure!
