Mors Arasumian has lived in an orphanage almost all her life--then again, that's really just six or seven years.
When she was five, though, she decided that she wanted to be special: she wanted to have something interesting that she could tell people about, something that would make her stand out. (After all, it was a big orphanage, and Mors was a needy kid. The attention the understaffed and overworked orphanage could give normal little her just wasn't enough, and none of the other kids seemed to want to talk to a little girl like her.) So she decided to proclaim (not exactly--more correctly, she just acted mysterious and talked to herself until someone asked) that she could see and communicate with ghosts.
Wonderful. In a few days she found herself catapulted to orphanage stardom. (Not exactly much of stardom, really, but enough.) And being a good liar and not exactly morally responsible, she made the most of it.
Until she realized that she was gradually starting to see things that weren't there. And they looked awfully dead.
