In your mailbox or on the streets of the city, you’ve come across a flier. The flier simply says that all travelers and treasure seekers are welcome. At the bottom, it indicates an address and nothing more. When you decide to investigate, you find that the address is an abandoned old farm, coated in snow and ice despite the weather outside of the fence. The gate is open.
Section 1: The Front Gate
The gate itself is huge; visitors could easily ride two horses side by side into it. At one point, a sign hung from the gate that said something, but it’s long since been worn away. The large iron bars of the gate hang slightly open, though stiff and frozen in place. No doubt a good shove will break it free.
Inside the gate is an unnatural nothingness. The ground is covered in a thick blanket of snow and nothing else. The land is eerily flat and featureless. To one side is a barn, the other full of trees, and the smoke of a chimney can be seen in the distance.
Section 2: The Frozen Forest
At a glance, the forest seems typical. It is full of pine trees and dead logs, all equally sprinkled with snow. However, the closer one gets, the odder it seems. Flowers in full bloom litter the ground, stiffly frozen in place by a thin layer of ice. It is as if someone took a thriving spring forest and froze it instantly, leaving all of the color and none of the life.
Strangely, there are no tracks in the forest. Surely there must be something living here, but there is rarely a sign of it. After wandering through the forest for some time, travelers may look back and realize that their own footprints disappear behind them, leaving no sign of which way they came from.
Section 3: The Mirrored Lake
Those who are lucky enough not to get lost in the forest for an eternity are met with the sight of unnatural beauty. The snow makes an abrupt stop at the edges of a medium sized lake. It has been frozen over with ice so perfectly smooth that looking into it is like looking into a mirror. The reflection of the clear blue sky and sparkling snow is almost blinding as it is reflected off the icy surface.
The ice is sturdy enough to walk on, even for heavy creatures. Under the ice can be seen beautiful glittering koi, swimming about as though they don’t realize the surface of the water is frozen. Any attempts to break or melt the ice are quickly thwarted - it fills itself back in to a mirrored surface almost instantly.
Section 4: The Barn
Opposite the frozen forest is a large red barn. It could not look more typical if it tried. The paint is bright and new looking, unlike anything else around the farm. There is a bale of hay outside the doors and on top of it is a peacefully sleeping Myu Reaper.
As could be expected, the barn is full of hay, stacked neatly from the floor to the ceiling. It is warm and inviting compared to the harsh cold of the outside, though there is no source of light. If one decided to stay for a while, they may hear the rumbling growls of a small, unknown creature amongst the hay. How strange. Further investigation also reveals a ladder that goes up into a loft. What could be up there…?
Section 5: The Cottage
From anywhere on the property, one can see the smoke tumbling out of a chimney. Once one is within sight of the the cottage, they may also notice that it smells like wood fire and freshly baked bread. The smell is absolutely enchanting, perhaps supernaturally so.
Walking through the door of the cottage, one is sure to notice that it is much bigger on the inside than it first appears. As can be expected, there is a fire crackling away, casting a warm orange glow onto the lounge. There are plenty of chairs and soft places to rest. A familiar looking Myu Reaper is perched on the back of one of the chairs. It can’t be the same one, can it?
Section 6: The Kitchen
The smell of baked bread and pie is not coming from the room with the fire, but an adjacent room. The kitchen is, of course the source of the lovely smells. Walking into the kitchen feels like taking a step back into an old painting. It is unusually quaint and cheerful with its decorative towels and neatly lined up wooden spoons.
Nobody is standing at the stove, but nonetheless a large pot of earthy stew bubbles away on it. The same can be said for the oven which is full of fresh loaves of bread and a beautiful pie. No matter how long one spends in the kitchen, none of these things start to burn. They merely bubble away at nearly-done for eternity.
Section 7: The Dining Hall
Opposite the kitchen is another door. It doesn’t have the inviting smell of still-cooking bread to draw travelers in, but is certainly worth a look. The door opens into a huge hall with a long table. The table is neatly set for dozens of people and absolutely filled with food!
The food is laid out neatly from one end of the table to the other. There are roast beasts of every variety, pies of many mysterious flavors, jellies, jams, and gravies to cover it all. Carafes full of wine, water, and exotic juice dot the table. Everything looks unbelievably fresh and delicious… but who is it for?
