So Camper one crosses with Camper two. (2 minutes) Then Camper one goes back and gives the flashlight to camper 5 who goes with camper ten who gives the flashlight to capmer two. Camper two goes back and gets camper one and then they go across as well.

17 minutes is the minimum?

I'll say two fruits per barrel.

You have a 50% chance that the frut will be an apple or an orange. If bot are apples, you can safely assume that it is the apple barrel. Same goes for the organge barrel. You would have to pull at least two fruite from the mixed barrel to determine that it is indeed the mixed one. You can grab an apple and an organge, two apples, or two oranges from the mixed one.

There can be any amount of fruits in a barrel, it can be say, a thousand.
And none of you guys got the number.
Hint: Labels... Think Labels....
And the Mixed Barrel could be
Apples: 99
Oranges: 1
That would still be mixed.

I'd say zero fruits... since you used 'were' and not 'are.' Had you said "There are Apples in this barrel," instead of, "There were Apples in this barrel," then I would have tried a number... but it's hard to label the barrels if there USED to be fruits in them. :P

I could be wrong, but why not try... :P

If the labels are wrong, then... is it that EVERY barrel is a mixed one? That's most likely not the answer, but I like guessing. :P And I fail at math AND at thinking logically, so... :P

If it's an orange, then that barrel has to be oranges, since it can't be mixed. The one labeled "apples" can't be apples or oranges now, so it has to be mixed. So the one labeled "oranges" is mixed!

If it's an apple, then that barrel is apples, the one labeled "oranges" is mixed, and the one labeled "apples" is oranges.
