I'm not sure if this answer will work. It'll depend on what the scales can and can't do. I might be overreaching here but if you place one egg on one scale and the other eight on the other? The one egg is your control egg, and you weigh its weight against the other eight. As you subtract eggs from the group of eight you compare how much weight is taken off. If taking an egg away is less than the control egg, then the control egg is the diamond egg. If it's more, then it is the diamond egg.

Maybe?

I'm really terrible at math, I just thought I'd give it a shot for kicks :3

The scales can only be used once.
You cannot take off anything, or add anything.
They just show you which side is heavier, and poof.

Ok, so you split the group of eggs in half. You put them on the scale. Then you take the heavier set, split them, set them on a scale. And repeat until you have one egg?

How about he cracks them all open to find which one has the diamond?

You can only crack one, and they all go poof  ><
And Luna, you've got the right idea.
But you don't split them into two groups...

Guessing, but you split them into 3 groups, 1 2 and 3, put 1 and 2 on one scale, take the heavier group and put it on the other scale with group 3, take away an egg from both groups, see which ones heavier. If they are the same replace the 2 eggs and take a different 2 from the groups, see which ones heavier, take away another egg from each group, see which ones heavier. If the same repeat the action like it says above. Take another 2 away and see which ones heavier. The heavier one has the diamond.


P.S. Not trying to cheat or something, but how can the worlds largest diamond fit into an egg?
