A very strange place indeed, this Shrine to the Holy Triumvirate is nestled within the icy peaks of the Fe'gan Mountains. You will find the warmth of spirituality here, together with works of great sculptural design based on the Holy Triumvirate religion. (+2 Fame)

Wandering Into Lost Memories [P] [Kahewai + Orthos]

Having flown through the night and part of the dawn Orthos was quite exhausted by the time they reached the snow-capped mountains and the monastery that lay just beyond the Shrine. It was a little-known place, for a more spiritual and less religious experience.

Carefully breaking away from Kahewai's flight pattern he landed heavily into the snow, for a moment falling flat and letting the snow cool his heated wings and belly. Even in the cool air he had seemed a bit overworked and this was comfortable - the look of pure bliss that came over his maw was testament to that.

"Only a few feet further... Let me rest a moment, m'lady."

Though Fairy paragon by breed were more adapt to the sky than the ground, Kahewai found herself very weary by the time the mountain shrine was in sight. It wasn't exactly the flight itself; it was the long night of no sleep, the chase prior, and now the deadly cold of the mountain that seemed to worm in between each scale and try to chill her to the bone. The fact that she was exerting energy to keep herself aloft was the sole reason she had not already let herself drift into the unfortunate hibernation that so many cold blooded beasts slipped into and so rarely came out of.

She followed him down but landed much more gently--in fact she kept herself hovering so that her claws barely graced the top of the snow. Orthos might be enjoying the coolness it brought, but the tropical-born Fairy couldn't say the white stuff held the same effect on her. Just feeling it brush against her scales as her wings churned some of the lighter bits up was enough to let her know that.

"Thank you for this Orthos. I know he will not try and find us here. He wouldn't think me capable of surviving." It was a very subtle hint--but with the Shrine in sight her fears began to melt away. It was somewhere to get away from the snow and with any luck would have a fire or two lit for those seeking a spiritual awakening to not freeze to death while they did so.
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

Suddenly he felt quite guilty over his moments of rest. Orthos hadn't thought that Kahewai... It made sense. She was much more delicate - and had come from a Jungle region, he remembered. Whereas his own lineage lay in the mountains. Or at least, his upbringing had been.

"I'm sorry m'lady... Let us go." He stood and stretched momentarily before leading her to the steps. The place was large enough for even a Garagnir to stand comfortably. Knocking with a clawed hand he stood back a bit to let the heavy pine doors open.

It was not long before the Lucain came to the door, pushing them open. "Come in, come in... Orthos! It is good to see you boy, and the lady as well." A bow was given as he let them in and then carefully hut the doors behind them. "You look exhausted. Are you hungry young ones? Or would you just prefer to rest? There are empty rooms of course."

Smiling sheepishly up at Orthos, Kahewai gave a short shake of her head. "No no, it's alright. It's perfect...I do not think he would dream of following up here." She said as she drifted softly after him in the snowy breeze. She came down once the snow gave way to stairs and stood just behind Orthos while keeping her tail drawn up close to her side.

To her surprise, it was a Lucain that opened the door. Kahewai had seen plenty of Lucain, sure, but she hadn't expected one to answer the temple door. She gave a light bow to him as he spoke, offering a smile afterwards. "Oh, I am Kahewai." She introduced weakly as she looked at the temple they were ushered into. She was right--in here is was at least warm and snow-free.

"It has been a very long night, yes. But I could not ask for anything else. Your hospitality is more than enough."

The kindly smile that Saicho gave put Orthos at ease, and he hoped his companion as well. "Oh, it is no trouble. It is my duty to offer anything I can to those who make it here. I will show you to your rooms." Another bow as he took them down a hallway. Small rooms and large ones - the first of the largest he stopped at and pushed open the door for them.

"If you would like to bunk together, you of course are welcome." He gave a knowing grin and a chuckle. "Orthos, you know where everything is." Another bow as he went off to his other duties.

A small shake of his head as Orthos gave a gentle nudge to Kahewai and pulled her into the room. There were soft blankets lain over the floor, plenty of room to lay and stretch, and a view of the snow capped mountains from a window. "I do not mind sharing a room, it would be warmer. But there are others, I can find another if you like.

Kahewai blinks and slowly offered a smile that fell more easily onto her face. She supposed that they were in a temple, at some level with was a caretakers job to make sure weary travelers were rested and fed to regain their strength. But for right now the rested part was what concerned Kahewai the most.

She followed both males down the hall until the door was pushed open for them. It looked warm and soft inside--the view of the snowy mountains with the morning sun just barely touching them looked lovely. She almost let out a shrill of surprise when Orthos pulled her in, but instead turned it into a nervous laugh. "I don't mind to share. While it is warm in here, I don't think I'll managed to get my own body heat up to where it should be on my own."

She walked a little further into the room, kneading the blankets on the ground with one clawed hand before looking back at Orthos. "You know...it's a little funny but the idea of staying by your side doesn't seem worrisome at all." After all, they had just escaped a male hunting her, one would think that by simple reason she would give pause to another one staying so close and confined with her. But there was something...something that told her it was where she belonged.

The soft smile was all Orthos needed on his maw. It was comfortable - and it was right. Having Kahewai by his side here in this sacred place, safe from everything. One day there would be a need to confront her captor - but for now - it was peaceful.

Shutting the door with a light flick of his tail Orthos nodded slightly, moving to shift the blankets and such around. "I think I can keep the both of us plenty warm. And yes... It is right, to have you here with me." He chuckled a little, turning to give a soft nuzzle to her wings, a very light check to see she was okay.

"Lets rest then, Kahewai." As she settled in he lightly curled around her, one wing covering her smaller form to keep her warm at his side.

Kahewai watched as he moved things around to form a more comfortable nest and smiled gratefully. It should still be striking her as odd, this entire affair happening right now, but she just couldn't make it escalate the the level of strange that it very well should have been. As she approached him and nestled down at his side, she gave a surprised gasp as he wrapped a wing over her and pulled her more tightly to him for warmth to be shared.

She could feel her sunny scales burning with a blush at the action but did nothing to protest it. Instead she accepted the offer and snuggled herself closer to him. For a moment she was silent and sleep filled her mind, but soon enough she found herself with the urge to share something she hadn't shared with anyone before.

"You know...I often dream that I was once something else. Some golden creature of the water." Her blush deepened and she rested her head on the blankets beneath them to try and give herself into the idea of sleep. "Just a silly hatchling dream though, I suppose. It has always seemed so real to me though."

With Kahewai at his side it seemed like a perfect time for sleep. He remained curled around her, softly laying his head near hers, though giving enough space should either move in their sleep. It was more than comfortable, seeming as he was drowsy even with the warmth of her blushing scales.

"Mmm... Maybe you dreamt of your past life, Kahewai." He offered. "Saicho could tell you, he believes in such things. Once he was a man, he said, and traveled the known world, bringing tea leaves to civilized people." It sounded silly to some Evelonians, but Sai really did believe in it.

He pondered for just a few moments before relaying to her his own hatchling dreams. "I often dreamt I was a Lucain of some sort, but with only one tail. I was happy, I think. There were lots of little ones, and I had a mate."
