Be it to the north or south, Basantha is characterized by harsh climates most Lambastians prefer not to trek. To the north are the frigid Fe'gan Mountains, Lambastia's highest and coldest peaks. Further south you'll encounter the arid expanse of the Wilt'no Desert, where most life only comes out during the night. Travelers find little escape to the west, even though the Tuun Mountains aren't quite as harsh.

C-32 2.0

C-32 flushed, a bit embarresed. "Er, no, no, it really wasn't anything. Just a simple fire spell..." Out of nowhere, a Sun Leawolf had begun to circle around them, making happy noises like a dog would. C-32 backed away a bit. She had a bad exprience, though she could not remember it, with anything dog-like. "Er...did I introduce myself?" C-32 nervously laughed. "C-32, at your service." She tipped her hat, as was the proper manner. "Of course, I'll check the pup..." She lapsed back into worry. "I do hope I didn't harm him seriously." It was hard to concentrate, with that brightly colored Leawolf running around... The Meji kneeled down, checking the pup if he was fine. "I think he's okay." C-32 squeaked. "It was just a stun spell. He should be okay soon..."

Can I die? Can I die?
I'm just waiting 'til I die
Never dreamed a single dream so kind in my entire life
No one knew, even cared for this fleeting fairy tail
Then it slipped into seething sun and soon it sailed away...

Mau began to jump excitedly.  So many people!  And all of them were so cool and colorful.  She noticed C-32 start to backing away.  "Meark," she barked/meowed.  She bounded over to the magical pet.

For a moment all was silence, save for the soft sound of Elneru's breathing.  Then, suddenly, a barking sound started up.  The next thing Kowei and Lurai knew, a Sun Leawolf was running around and around them, "them"being the Meji, Elneru, Lurai, Kowei, the Hunter, the Kitrell, Fethire, the girl, and her Lucain pup.  Kowei was strongly reminded of an excited Sahound.  Well, at least the Sun Leawolf seemed friendly, if a bit overexcited.

The girl Kowei had sent Fethire to help had let him hop off her shoulder to the ground, and now he stared at the big, yellow doglike thing.  "My, that's one excited...whatever you call it,"he said.  A second later his mischievous side took over and he started barking back at the creature, a perfect imitation of its own bark.  What the barks meant was beyond him, he just loved imitating the sound.

On the ground next to Elneru, Kowei groaned.  She just knew Fethire was going to rile the Sun Leawolf up even more than it already was.  As much as she wanted to shut Fethire up, Kowei didn't want to leave Lurai and Elneru alone.  Sighing and resigning herself to more trouble, Kowei looked down at Elneru and began to stroke his neck gently.  As she did so Kowei continued to talk to him in a soft voice.  Who knew, maybe it would help him bond with her.

Lurai sniffed the unconscious Serraptor, then went back to watching the excited wolflike creature.  A sudden, soft sound made her glance down at Elneru.  He was stirring!  Lurai whinnied softly to alert Kowei, who nodded.  She too, could see that Elneru was waking.  With any luck he'd be too exhausted to start snapping at them, or will have given up on his "kill the Meji"venture.

One eye opened and fixed itself upon Kowei, glaring coldly into her eyes.  Elneru hissed at her, but he hadn't the strength to fight her off as Kowei continued to stroke him and speak soothingly to him.  He hated to admit it, but the strokes felt nice.  Well, at least Kowei was good for something.  He still wished she'd leave him alone!  Still, all he could do was growl his protests and let her stroke him.  Finally he closed his eye to rest, as there was little else he could do.

Mau stopped her advancement on the Meji, and stared at Fethire.  She cocked her head then gave a big doggy grin.  "Meark!  Meark!  Mwoof!  Beow!"  I'm a big fat turkey!  Obviously, that was a translation.

Jazzy jumped, a bit surprised by the leawolf that had appeared.
"Oh, hi there!" She cooed to the cute creature. She had heard of leawolfs but had never actually seen one up close. Reaching into her pouch she pulled out one of Mako's treats and offered it to the new arrival. After doing so she turned back to Mako who was now stirring.
"Wha...what happened?" The little lucain mumbled.
"I don't know you tell me?" Jazzy shrugged then patted her friend on the head. She was glad he was ok.
"Hey your awake!" Rindu cried happily flapping down to check up on her friend. Her attention was also quickly distracted as she observed the polly next to the barking like the leawolf.
"Oh how fun!" The kitrell cried jumping over and joining in with the birdlike creature. "My name's Rindu. What's yours?" She paused in between barks, curious about the polly.
Jazzy shook her head. She figured she'd let them have their fun. Scouping Mako up in her arms she walked back over to the others.
"Is everything ok over here?" She asked double checking with everyone.

The Leawolf barked a reply.  She bounced over to Jazzy to investigate Mako.  She'd never seen a Lucain before.

C-32 2.1

The Meji slowly backed away from the Leawolf, her heart pounding like mad. She hated canine creatures, just hated them. No, wrong wording. She feared them. It stirred up bad memories, bad memories she didn't want to remember. But the memories came back. C-32 curled up into a fetal position, whimpering in fear. She quivered intensely, her breath came out in short gasps. Oh no, the memories were coming back, they were coming back...

((Haha, Mako grew up while we have been rping.  He's very pretty jazzy, congrats!  Oh, and congrats on getting that beauty Tyyrh too!))

More barking, and again Fethire happily imitated the barks.  They sure sounded funny, somewhere between true barks and meows.  The odd sound was all the more fun to imitate for its uniqueness!  Voices from just behind him made Fethire stop and look over his shoulder.  Ah, the little Lucain was up.  He seemed perfectly fine, at least to Fethire, so the wild magic hadn't done him any harm.

A hiss caused him to snap his head around once more.  So, Elneru was awake.  Since he wasn't up and causing chaos Fethire was pretty sure he was still recovering from all the attacks.  Good, Fethire thought, at least we'll get some peace before he goes crazy again.  Maybe if we're lucky he'll stay calm for a few hours.  That was expecting a bit much though; Elneru generally wreaked havoc about sixteen times a day, sometimes more.  That Serraptor is just too hyper for everyone's own good, Fethire sighed to himself, shaking his head.  He then shook it off and resumed his imitation of the weird barking the big yellow and brown creature produced.

Seeing the Lucain pup up and apparently unharmed was a relief for Kowei, even though she didn't know him at all.  Heck, with all that had happened she hadn't even said "hello"yet!  Still, Kowei didn't like seeing others get hurt, even those that ticked her off.  She'd just as soon help Elneru on his worst day as help Lurai or Fethire.  The same policy applied to strangers in general, and especially young pets like pups and kits.

The feeling vanished though as Kowei saw the little Meji.  It was absolutely terrified about something, although mercifully no magic was shooting out of its wand.  Hmm, I see two things that might be the cause of this, Kowei thought. [ i]Either the fact that Elneru's awake and still ticked is spooking that Meji, or the Sun Leawolf that was running around us scared it.  Either way, that poor little Meji is really, really scared and I should do something.[/i]

But what?  Kowei was loath to leave Elneru when this was a crucial opportunity for her to bond with him.  At the same time, she didn't want the Meji to be scared..."Lurai, could you please try and soothe that Meji over there?  I know it'll be hard for you, but it's really important that I stay with Elneru." Lurai lifter her head and nodded, then struggled to her hooves.  It was hard to move, but she was determined to help Kowei out.

Whickering softly, she walked over to the Meji and lay down next to her.  For a moment she did nothing, but then Lurai stretched out her neck and gently nudged the Meji, snorting.  Would the Meji be comforted, or would it continue to cower at some fear she and Kowei could not understand?  In an attempt to make the former happen Lurai shifted herself, so that that her body blocked the big yellow wolf thing and Elneru from the Meji's view.  Maybe one of them was making it nervous, in which case blocking them from its sight might help.  Lurai couldn't block out the barks though...

That girl (Jazzy was it?) was now asking Kowei about how everything was.  Kowei shrugged in response.  "Elneru's not going to be causing trouble for at least an hour if we're lucky.  Lurai won't be up to much traveling until her neck gets better, and Fethire is being his mischievous self.  Your Lucain looks all right, thankfully.  Oh, and that Meji over there seems to be very frightened of something.  What it's afraid of, I'm not sure.  My best guess is that it's scared of Elneru or that Sun Leawolf, but I could be very wrong about that.  In case I didn't say so earlier, my name's Kowei.  Yours was Jazzy, right?  Maybe you can figure out what's scaring the Meji?"

A disgruntled growl rumbled in Elneru's throat.  Why was it, every single time he was so close to disemboweling someone this dratted human and her precious pets had to mess it up?  Worse, the one time they didn't someone else had stopped him!  Every muscle in his body ached both from the beating he'd taken and with longing to get up right now and rip everyone up!  As he had too little strength to do so though, Elneru had to content himself with enjoying Kowei's caresses.  Just because he liked it didn't mean his opinion of her had changed one bit!

(Hehe thanks ^.^ Yeah I figured Mako was gunna grow up *sigh* can't keep 'em tiny pups forever)

"Yeah that's right, it's nice to meet you Kowei." Jazzy smiled, happy to have a bit of a break from the chaos. She had gone on this trip to escape the pressures of home but things like this always seemed to fall into her lap. Oh well, it was what she lived for anyway right? "I'll go see whats going on over there." The girl nodded then glanced over at the Meji. "Poor thing." She then added to herself. Standing up she motioned to Mako to follow. When she finally got over to the spot she bent down and smiled. "Hi there! Is everything alright? If your worried about the serraptor, he's pretty secure..."

C-32 2.2

Dark cages, hallways, the reek of those strange chemicals...

C-32's head jerked when she heard Jazzy's voice, though she barely registered what she said. "N-no," The Meji weakly said. "Not the Serraptor...the...Lea-" She couldn't finish her sentance and she curled up into a little ball again, whimpering.

Run, try to run, but the dogs smell me and attack...

The Leawolf cocked her head.  She didn't understand why the Meji was whimpering.  She reached her paw out to the Meji.

((WaywaywayWAY overdue thanks to problems with the internet, sorry guys.  Here's my post though, and it's a good one!))

Gah, why did the Meji have to ruin everything?  The big yellow and brown creature had stopped barking and gone on over to investigate, leaving Fethire with nothing to imitate.  Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but right now it left him with nothing to do.  In an attempt to amuse himself Fethire imitated a few other sounds he'd heard recently, such as Elneru's hisses and Lurai's whinnies.  It didn't really work, so he proceeded to preen his feathers.  It wasn't much, but it occupied his mind more than imitating past sounds did.

Lurai was half asleep, exhausted from the wound in her neck.  It had been a few minutes now, so even if Elneru got up he wouldn't be interested in the Meji.  That was one good thing about Elneru: he had a bit of a short attention span; or rather he had a short caring span.  By now he wouldn't care one bit about the Meji, despite being ready to kill it a few seconds ago.  It was officially not worth his attention.  Thus, Lurai didn't have to worry or remain awake.  A nap would do her a world of good, she was sure of that.  Lurai closed her eyes and let her mind wander.

When she was a yearling her mother had taken her on a trip through the meadows and forest that their herd called home.  There was so much for the young Lurai to see!  Yeah, she had seen bits of it before, but never had she seen so many different varieties of life as she did on that trip.  Her mother had started off by teaching her about the grass they grazed on, and how it could be different due to things like temperature, the kind of soil it grew in, how much sunlight it received, and what the current season was.

As they continued to walk Lurai's mother taught her about many more species of plants and then progressed onto the various species of animals that were to be found in Evelon, including humans.  It was a lot to remember, and for the next month Lurai pestered her mother with questions about what she had learned and what she forgot.  She must have been quite the pest, yet her mother seemed pleased and was always happy to answer the myriad questions Lurai threw her way.

It was this curiosity that led to Lurai's specializing in plants.  As such she was also good in medical matters, knowing how to make all sorts of medicines from the plants at hand.  It was her main task as part of the team.  Fethire was entertainment and a scout, Lurai was the doctor, Kowei was the animal specialist and helped out with her hands; and Elneru...well, he was supposed to be the warrior, the one that protected the group, but right now he wasn't on good terms with his teammates.

With any luck Kowei would manage to bond with him soon.  Until then they had to deal with his antics.  It wasn't that the other three couldn't fight, but Elneru was the strongest of them.  He was also, by far, the fiercest of the group and the one that refused to go down in a fight.  Unfortunately, those same qualities that made him a great warrior also made him a huge troublemaker while his loyalty was so low.  Well, Kowei was trying to make amends, so hopefully the beast would soon be tamed.

At the moment though, he was too tired to do anything more other than lay on the ground and grudgingly admit to himself that he liked the way if felt to have Kowei stroke him.  In his eyes the three he was with weren't worth his help, his friendship.  They were afraid of him, and they would not have defeated him earlier without the interfering creature's help.  Perhaps that creature was worthy of his respect, but the others sure weren't...especially that fool that had sat on his head.  Elneru growled softly, irritably, and closed his eyes.  He had to rest; there was nothing else he could do.  Besides, that stroking had a strange, soothing effect on him.  Soon he was fast asleep.

The young Leawolf barked happily at the strange group.  She didn't understand why they were all so weird, but she could see they were fun.  It was a shame that the Mejii was a bit traumatized.

With a 'Meark' she ran off, happy and carefree.

(And I'm pulling her out)
