Be it to the north or south, Basantha is characterized by harsh climates most Lambastians prefer not to trek. To the north are the frigid Fe'gan Mountains, Lambastia's highest and coldest peaks. Further south you'll encounter the arid expanse of the Wilt'no Desert, where most life only comes out during the night. Travelers find little escape to the west, even though the Tuun Mountains aren't quite as harsh.

Grid and Lusrd

“Further away,” Grid said with a nod, “It is on another continent entirely. I'll have to show you my maps sometime.” Since she didn't want to assume that Aranyani would have a thorough or no concept of a continent. Either way could be perceived as rude.

They agreed on that. Grid loved old things to compare to the new. Sometimes the new ways of doing things were better, but other times they forgot information that could be of incredible value, or ways of doing things that had been lost not because they were inefficient or bad, but because of some sort of tragedy.

“I look forward to-” Grid drew herself back when a man she had not noticed before put himself between Grid and her new friend. She instantly became defensive, blonde brows pinching together as her lips thinned into a tight line.
“I don't much appreciate your tone,” but from his dress and mannerism, the familiarity, Grid forced herself to relax, “but if Aranyani is not under duress and wishes to leave she can, of course... But around here is is not acceptable for a man to command a woman around like cattle.”

“Is there problem, Grid?” The woman reached around nehind her to pat the flat of Lusrd's blade, which was part of his exoskeleton. He was bent forward a little, as though he was whispering, though he was as loud as always.
“No no, Lusrd, we're fine. Aranyani and I are friends. Actually.”
And the young woman leaned over as she pulled a card from her breast pocket, passing it directly to Aranyani.
“My card. My contact information. If you have access to a phone you can contact me.”

It wasn't ideal without checking to make sure the girl could use a phone, but the gesture was made as best it could, given the circumstances.

Perhaps he could stay a little bit longer. It wasn't that much of a hardship, after all. It became quite amusing to people watch once he had a few more drinks in him. Some of the creatures here didn't actually seem all that mortal. Other seemed all too mortal. In the end, perhaps one's lifespan was a bit more subjective than he tended to make it out to be. Not that it mattered to continue speculating, he was just here to continue being showered with gifts and buying drinks.

Hm. Perhaps this was why so many gods did it.

"Since when is this your idea of a party?"

Corva glanced over her shoulder with a smile, her eyes glittering with amusement as Kimber tilted her head. True, a calm little Christmas gathering wasn't usually what she meant with that. Corva was more of a loud, drunken brawling kind of partier - and Kimber was fine with that, as long as she could say 'I told you so' at the hangovers in the morning. So when Corva had told her to get dressed for a party, and nicely, her confusion was palpable.

"What, disappointed that I won't be throwing anyone over the bar tonight, sweetheart?" she teased, holding the door open for her partner. Kimber snorted, shaking her head at that.

"Hardly," she said, one hand on Corva's arm as the two of them moved through the crowd. The noise wasn't terrible, and people were smiling and greeting cheerfully as they passed. It was a refreshing experience. "I'm a little relieved, to be honest. This is much more suitable for the holiday." Corva smiled again, letting Kimber keep a hold on her as she ladled servings from the punch bowl.

"See, I can be thoughtful," she said, handing one of the glasses to Kimber, who looped her arm through Corva's as she took it. She held it with both hands, peering thoughtfully over the rim to take in the room as she sipped.

"Never said you couldn't be, Cor," she murmured, a small laugh escaping. "Never said you couldn't be."

He sleeps alone,
He needs no army where he's headed cause he knows
That they're just ghosts
And they can't hurt him if he can't see them
And I don't know
If in the morning I will be here and if so,
Let it be known
That I was worthy,
I was worthy,
I was worthy,
I was..

Oliver couldn't contain his pleased grin. "Yeah, for sure! If we're around... or, you know, I could always come back. Or you could take my offer and work with us..." He hadn't intended to bring the conversation full circle, but he really did wish that Leo would just agree to his proposal. It may be for entirely selfish reasons, but the guy would be pretty useful out on the road.

Plus, it wasn't unlikely that they were going to be getting in some sort of legal trouble. They seemed to be always hanging out at the edge of a lawsuit and entirely incapable of disclosing the full story. It seemed like a lot to hope for, that Leo would be interested in signing on to their little business - still, he could dream right?

"And hey, you never know. We may just end up sticking around yet." He was a bit buzzed, the alcohol he'd been steadily working into his system throughout dinner having left him pleasantly at ease. He felt a bit reckless, wanted to make some sort of joke about how Leo wasn't rid of him quite yet. But the moment passed, and he did have some sense of propriety. At least enough to know that he was flirting dangerously with the line he wasn't supposed to be crossing.

He turned back to his meal instead, finishing off the burger and leaving a handful of fries to grow cold. "You wanna get out of here and go watch that movie?"

Was he late? Halvard hoped he wasn't late. It had been a busy day, being Christmas--he'd gotten lots of lovely presents from his friends and family, eaten half his weight in chocolates, and sung his throat sore caroling badly along with "The Little Drummer Boy." But also, it was Christmas--maybe they'd made allowances for it being had to get here today? Either way, Halvard hoped he was sliding in under the wire.

He'd hoped to come here with all his friends and family--especially Kane, who was planning on giving out some surprise goodies. But it was just him. Still, Christmas was hectic, and maybe it was best that way.

I'm so cool (too bad I'm a loser).
I'm so smart (too bad I can't get anything figured out)!
I'm so brave (too bad I'm a baby).
I'm so fly
That's probably why it feels just like I'm falling for the first time!

I'm so green (it's really amazing).
I'm so clean (too bad I can't get all the dirt off of me)!
I'm so sane (It's driving me crazy)!
It's so strange
I can't believe I'm falling for the first time!

Zane blinked at Null's tears, wincing, and scooted his chair around to face the other a bit better, holding his hands out in a calming gesture. "Hey, hey--that was my bad, y'know? I mean, not my bad totally, but... like, that was Cyril, not you," he said, offering a hand for Null to shake. "I dunno about all that 'feeding off of anger' stuff, but it sounds pretty dope. Cyril got what was coming to him, haha."

Zane's eyes widened as Kosok leapt onto his shoulder, then laughed slightly, uncovering his nose. "A healer, huh, little guy?" he asked, clearly not catching on that Kosok was, in fact, capable and sapient both. He blinked as Kosok laid his tail on his nose, and he threatened to sneeze, mouthing something that looked like 'pineapple' really slowly--it seemed to work, the sneeze successfully tamped down.

He straightened back to attention when Dahlia turned towards him again, and he offered her a smile, nodding his head a little (not too much--he didn't want to jostle Kosok). "Hey, that's a great idea! I mean... I should probably get back to studying soon, just two chapters left and all, but my apartment's cozy enough. Cody cleaned it up recently... he cleans sometimes when he's bored. It's cute," Zane mused aloud, then blinked out of his thoughts and laughed sheepishly. "S-so what I'm saying is, uh, we make a mean cup of hot cocoa or coffee... or tea, Cody has like, five bajillion types of tea, so..." He trailed off and grinned, shrugging, then blinked in realization that the pain throbbing in his nose had lessened considerably. "Woah... woah! What?" Zane gasped, turning towards Kosok on his shoulder with shining eyes.

Cody trotted back over with dripping napkin-wrapped-ice in hands, settling down beside Zane and handing him the compress. He paused, looking up at Kosok, a laugh bubbling out of him. "I-it looks like his tail is a mustache, on you," he giggled, then blinked in realization that Zane's nose looked better. He looked back at Dahlia, a question (and amazement) in his eyes. Zane caught his attention before he could ask anything, as he relayed the possible plan to hang out afterwards to the other man.

Cody picked up his popcorn again and looked back at Cyril, then at Dahlia, a grin forming on his face. "I can fix something really quick and easy for a late night dinner, too," Cody said, hunching his shoulders excitedly. He got up again, waving for the others to follow him. "Come on--let's blow this joint, as nicely decorated as this joint is."

Cyril experienced what could only be described as a blinding white light for a few moments, and suddenly, he was on the floor. He could've sworn he saw visions in the time between impact and waking up (violent ones--visions somehow familiar and somehow very unfamiliar--were those his hands holding that knife...?), but eventually, he found himself blinking awake, being helped to his feet. He muttered something unintelligible, groaning, and gave Winter and Null a woozy stare. "I'm... gggonna... go home, now," he slurred, feeling like he was walking through molasses. He blinked unevenly as he saw Zane, Cody, and that woman from before making their way to the door, and made a grunting noise as Cody nearly bumped into him. Cyril gave him a rotten stare, before it crumpled slightly as a wave of pain coursed over him.

Cody eyed him for a moment, then looked at Null and Winter, then sighed, looking over at Zane. "Hey... wanna at least help him find Ava's apartment? You guys live in the same complex, right?" Zane nodded, smiling good-naturedly at Cody's probably too-forgiving nature. "Th-this is for Ava's sake--you know how worried she'd be if Cyril didn't come home," he added, as if reading Zane's mind.

Zane looped one of Cyril's arms around his shoulders, then cast a look back at Null and Winter with a wave. "It was nice meeting you two! Sorry about our guy here. We'll make sure he gets a good night's rest," he said, with an ounce of pointed venom towards Cyril--as much as someone like him could have, at least. "Buh-bye!"

"Bye you two!" Cody called back to the other two, then continued munching on popcorn as the four (or five, if you counted the cute little critter on Zane's shoulder) walked out of the tavern and into the chilly night air.

[Claiming Day 1! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!]

But there will come a time
You'll see, with no more tears
And love will not break your heart
But dismiss your fears
Get over your hill and see
What you find there
With grace in your heart
And flowers in your hair

"Tomorrow will be a good day."

After an old acquaintance had popped up practically crying to Julian about missing a bunch of days at some ‘Advent Calendar’ event, he had sighed heavily. Well, anyone who knew him (this acquaintance included) knew he didn’t actually mean it. He just liked to act like it bothered him. It was hard to bother Julian. He’s unbotherable. Fortunately, he’d already heard about the Quest Master’s tavern in all his years, despite the fact he’d never actually set foot in the place.

Until now, anyway. He slipped up to the front, glancing at a clock. “I’m really pushing this to the last minute, aren’t I?” he commented with a chuckle. “But I suppose I’m here to pick up the gift for day 1, Christmas Day.” Go figure he’d be free on Christmas. It was a bit of a sore point, but one his acquaintance was clearly counting on. How rude.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting

Boy I know what you desire, oh, you're such a bad, bad liar

This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth

Singing like a Siren, love me while your wrists are bound
