Most of Lambastia's city life can be found along the southeastern coast of Norrega, where settlers feel they are safe from Nori Volcano at the northern tip of the region. Warm gulf winds ensure this region is the most habitable on the continent, though travelers are warned of the disappearances of many venturing too close to the Whisper Forest. Species from all over are housed at the Evelon Preservation Zoo.

A Different Dimension [Possibly E] [Cita and I]

It had been a few days since their travels had begun, and Tal'galar finally felt it was time to reveal the true nature of her trip with him. They were too far to turn back and, as they say, in space no one can hear you scream. The ship was currently cruising on autopilot through a rather barren plot of the star system until they reached their original destination, and Tal'galar made his way to the mess hall where he had last heard her.

The ship was designed to house up to eight, so there was plenty of room for a stranger to get lost. It also meant there were plenty of provisions to go around in the absence of his crew, and he could allow his 'guest' a little more luxury on meals.

"Usheret?" He called out tentatively, just to make sure he was heading in the right direction. "we need to have a little...chat about where we're going."
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

The young Goddess was rather thrilled about the trip to be honest. Once Tal'galar had started to open up to her and speak more comfortably she had as well. While Earth (and Evelon) would always be her home, it was nice out here as well. She could see the benefits of travelling in space, never having to stay in one place long. It could make for an interesting life.

"Yes, Tal?" She called out from the mess hall, as predicted, having sat down to have a drink to settle her stomach. That was one thing that the travel had left her with. Ever since they had left orbit she had been somewhat queasy, though it was easy to hide. At least there was a large array of flavored drinks to choose from, and as of yet she had kept everything offered down.

The Turian rounded the corner to find his Goddess sipping a drink, as he had thought. Could he have smiled he would have been, but for the time being only the ridged crest on the back of his skull shifted to signal his approval over having found her. He looked less intimidating now--most of the armor was left in a glass-fronted closet. There was little need for armor on ones own ship with no signals for light years.

"Usheret," he greeted more properly, giving her a slight tip of his head. "I've been...doing some thinking. And I think it's time you know."

How to put this...humans didn't usually take well to know they had been tricked. Not that she could do much now without bringing about both their untimely ends. But still...some compassion was required here and that was a sentiment that Tal'galar was not at all comfortable with.

"Back on Evelon, when I found you...it was indeed not by accident. I was sent there to find you, and to bring you in. I'm a gun for hire--what you may term a 'bounty hunter'. There are races in the galaxy who would wish to...exploit your powers through whatever means necessary. That is not where we're going, by the way." He raised an oddly shaped hand in a human gesture of peace or to 'chill'. That came out wrong, where had he taken the wrong turn at?

This was not going very well.

Hm. Tal didn't usually seek her out just to talk. Usheret waited patiently, watching him as he spoke. "Time that I know what?" She asked curiously, awaiting his response. He was obviously fighting for the words, so it must be fairly important.

She couldn't say she was too surprised. There were plenty who had tried to exploit her before, and that would always be something she had to think about. It was how she had lost her previous life, fighting against someone trying to use her powers to their own gain. Selfish gains. Everyone had to have a chance with fortune and luck, otherwise how would it be fair? Not everyone would gain something, but they all had a chance.

"I appreciate the honesty, Tal'galar. Though, I must say I didn't think you a bounty hunter. I thought you perhaps had a second thought about using my powers for your own. Where are we going, then?"

Tal'galar slid into a chair opposite Usheret to be more properly in 'conversation mode'. It had been a while coming, and she deserved his attention despite his numerous screw ups along the way as he tried to navigate through human customs. A small 'hmm' of something like a chuckle escaped him when she noted she didn't think him a bounty hunter.

"Wouldn't be very effective at my job if I broadcast my intentions. My clients usually pay for high priority and high class bounties...so I must handle them with the utmost care to bring them in unharmed." It wasn't a fancy life, but it lined his armor with credits a plenty. He inhaled deeply, the odd thorny nostril on his face flaring slightly as he did so. Sometimes he looked much more creature or monster than humanoid--without meaning to.

"We are still going to the planet that I first promise," he began. "We're...hiding at the moment. I asked you onto the ship to throw others who are sure to follow in my footsteps off your trail. It's much harder to locate life force signals when out in space. Just long enough that any new bounty hunters stop looking over Earth and Evelon--if they're sure you're not there, eventually they'll stop returning." That was his hope, at least. Somewhere along the line someone else would try again...but by that time his conscious would be clear of all this.

It was fairly lucky that Usheret had become accustomed to seeing Tal, and knowing his body language. He may be uncomfortable with human customs but he had been warming up. Even then he seemed to truly enjoy physical contact, and that was something she was more than willing to give. Even just the simple touch of her hands to his was always interesting.

"One must do their job well to get paid, no matter what the job is." She could understand that. There was nothing wrong in doing a good job. Nor was there shame in being a bounty hunter. Smiling slightly at his nostril flare she reached over to softly pat his cheek. There was no harm done here, and he was trying to make it right at least.

"I appreciate that. I fear that there will always be those who want to use my gifts for evil. There are plenty who pray to me for purely selfish reasons, I know that. But the chance at knowing there are people out there who would kidnap me off of my own world is good." Nodding slightly she paused, taking another sip of the drink to soothe her roiling stomach.

"I do wish that they would understand that much of my power only pertains to Evelon. Even when I was truly a Goddess and immortal, I do not believe my power would work off of my world. There are other forces at work on other worlds, other Gods and Goddesses who draw upon them for power." It was a hunch, but one that may save her life one day.

Her hand caught him off guard, though Tal'galar didn't flinch. Instead he sat there, still as a statue, and watched her as she patted his skin. He was sure it was strange to her--a mixture of skin and leather, laced with scales. Unlike any creature the Evelonian world had ever known at least. Her touch always electrified him just a bit, strange as it seemed to even the Turian. Her soft alluring skin on his felt like being caressed with the finest silks.

"Humans and aliens alike will always seek out things they feel are powerful. Most are highly advanced weaponry tech...and some happen to be ancient goddesses reborn," he deadpanned, not really sure how to respond to her reassurance of his intentions. "Personally I'd be a lot happier if they'd stick to tech--that I can understand."

A crude attempt at a joke, but a joke still. The Turian male stood back up, pressing his clawed hands against the table to support himself. "I should get back to the helm and check the systems...you want to come along?"
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. The Turian was certainly strange to her, but Usheret would be lying if she said it wasn't interesting. She had wonders about other aliens, but for now was content to learn about him and his species. Being curious about one another was certainly a relief. She wasn't sure how she would handle this trip if he wasn't okay with the soft touches or the questions.

"You have a point." She gave a gentle laugh, smiling softly at him. "I hardly understand tech, but the want to be powerful is there for every species, I think. Even I strive to achieve my original powers back, and my immortality." It would be hard to achieve, even for the reborn Goddess, and she understood the struggle.

Nodding slightly she finished her drink and threw away the wrapping before following him. "I would like that. This planet that we're going to, want to tell me more about it? I have no fears it will be safe, but I am curious. How close to Earth are we?"

Humans of different types dotted the star systems--they were nothing new to see anyway. But to actually be in confined spaces with one--to talk and pick her brain, to feel how strange and wonderful her skin was and the softness of her hair...that was certainly different. Tal'galar couldn't say he was displeased with his choice to keep her hidden among the stars for now.

He said nothing immediately to her response, finding no logical need to fill the space with more talk. He could understand power--it was why his species made warriors out of every able-bodied Turian before they were allowed to have a civilian life. Power through rigorous training, through an entire species willing and able to do battle as one...that was power.

"You should find the destination very different. It's a lush forest-covered planet rich with wildlife. It's also a haven for traders and merchants--very busy with alien life. You'll enjoy it, I think." As they entered the cockpit of the ship, Tal'galar tapped on a few of the buttons that rippled out light blue lights at his touch. He pointed a claw at the map he pulled up, tracing along through the many tiny dots representing stars and planets.

"Your Earth is here," he said with a gesture towards it, then began to trace his claw along the holographic image until he reached a seemingly empty space several feet away. "And we are out here...roughly three lightyears away."

Humans greatest achievement had to be their versatility. While they may be weak or unintelligent compared to other species they easily came to travel the stars with few ill-effects. They performed wide varieties of jobs - and had even proven in a few circumstances to be compatible with alien species. Though, some were quite against the mixing of genetics.

"I agree with you there. Very different from my desert home." But a welcome change. A rain forest with traders meant plenty to see and experience. More types of aliens - she had seen a few on Tal's data systems, but it was a lot of information to take in. She just hadn't wanted to be surprised by any of their appearances.

Nodding slightly as he pointed to Earth and then dragged his way over to their current location Usheret smiled. "And how far to the planet we're going to?"

Mixing genetics was, to many, thought impossible without extensive testing and splicing. Humans in the galaxy were often seen as cannon fodder until they proved themselves otherwise or even pets to some. But Tal'galar was certain Usheret would be safe with him.

"Our destination is here," he said as he continued to trace a path only finger lengths away. "Only a few star systems away. By your measures of time, about a days worth of travel." It was always hard to remember to put things in terms the goddess would understand. She learned fast, but sometimes it was just easier to put it in her own terms rather than try to teach. The stars, goddess or not, weren't meant to be her home as they were his.

"We'll stay there a day or two--reload and get some fresher foods for you. I'm sure rations aren't quite what you were expecting."

While being with a bounty hunter may not sound safe to anyone else Usheret trusted Tal'galar. Few people would want to cross someone who could make sure they were never heard from again.

In the end she was grateful for him teaching her, and for simplifying things to her term. As much as she liked to learn it could get tedious, and she could only keep track of so much at a time. "It all seems to meld together here, the time. Without a sunrise and sunset sometimes I forget until I realize I'm tired." She laughed softly. It must be a foreign concept to him, living mostly in space and without such measurements.

"Not quite, but they are interesting." Living off of what your body needed to survive wasn't a new concept, though the palatability of some of the food was questionable. She couldn't say she liked bland food, used to all sorts of spice and salt.

"It is very bland, but I can't..." Trailing off she put a hand to her head, the other steadying herself on the console. A glance to Tal's worried face and she just smiled - though it was quite obvious she'd gone very pale. "Don't worry, I'm fine."

...Obviously not, as she slid to the floor, unconscious. While it seemed like just a fainting spell it was uncharacteristic, and unexpected.

Tal was at least familiar with how humans chose to tell time--based around the movement of the sun and moon. He didn't need such measures, and to Usheret it may even seem as if he didn't sleep at all. Small two hour naps here or there while they were in an asteroid-free section of space or while they were engaged in hyperdrive. The Turian did this throughout what she would consider a day, never truly sleeping for long periods when there was no combat to recover from.

"It is quite something to get used to--when you planet hop as frequently as I do you just learn to take...what you humans call 'cat naps' to tide me over. Otherwise adjusting to each new planets sense of time would take too great a toll on the body."

Her words weakened suddenly, and her body language he'd been trying to decode for weeks now took a drastic turn as well. When he turned his head to look directly at her, the scanner that seemed permanently fixed in front of his eye went haywire with readings. Blood pressure drops, heart rate spike, none of it made any sense to the Turian. As she slumped towards the ground he moved forward with surprising speed to catch her before her head hit the ground.

The small woman was nothing for the alien male to scoop up into his arms, using one long claw to punch in a few codes before shoving forward on the accelerator. They were going to be getting to that planet sooner rather than later...

"Usheret? Usheret? Can you hear me?" he tried in vain as he carried her limp form back towards the medical station, unsure of what he was going to be able to do from there. "We're taking another path, we'll have help soon. Hang in there..."

Luckily the scanner could pick up that after the momentary drastic dip Usheret stabilized back at her normal measurements, blood pressure and oxygen slowly climbing back up as he carried her to the medbay. The episode lasted for less than two minutes before she was stirring, reaching out to grasp at Tal, fingertips finding the ridges and crests beneath his suit a comfort. He was holding her - and she opened her eyes as he laid her on the table.

"I'm okay, Tal, I'm okay." Though her voice wobbled it was quite clear there was something wrong with her. She was at least stable now, and not fighting him as he did whatever it was he was doing. "I've fainted before... It's nothing. I just need to rest." Perhaps it had something to do with the bland food, or how the gravity worked on the ship. Any number of things, she couldn't be sure. Not many Evelonians had been to space, and she had never wondered much about the subject.

"No harm done. I promise." He looked so worried, and she really wasn't sure of what to say to help reassure him. This was new to her as well, she had fainted before, but under very different circumstances.

Her fingers gripping at the bone-like ridges along his chest and collarbone. It felt odd, not in that the features themselves had many nerves endings to feel the sensations but that the light pressure she applied drew his attention down to her. As he placed her gently on the table he began moving around, placing tacky feeling monitors to her skin where it was exposed.

"We'll be to the planet soon, just lie back and relax. We can't take chances...I'm not one for human medicines," he admitted quietly. In fact most of the readings the machines began chirping about made little sense to him. She was at least awake and communicating again, however.

"Perhaps you should just stay here and rest until we get to the planet. I'll send out a message ahead of us to one of the healers there; he's seen more humans than I have. Used to live on Earth if I'm not mistaken."
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count.
