The wall moved slightly inward. "Did you see that?" Cloud pushed on the wall hard and it swung in reveiling a tunnel. "Well look at that. Think what we're looking for is in there?" So much for the symbols being of use.

Cloud grabbed a torch and headed in."Come on let's look inside." He followed the tunnel to a small series of interconnected rooms with small dim torches for the only lighting. "Wow, look at all the rooms. There's got to be dozens!"

I let out a gasp, covering my mouth with both of my hands. Dang, I knew I was a genius! ...No matter how many people said otherwise. I smiled as I followed Cloud in the tunnel, looking around. Geez, to think that there coulda been some kinda secret tunnel in this place... That means one of those darn creatures must be in here, right?!

"Well, what're we waiting for?! Lets go into all o' the rooms!" I said happily as I ran into the closest room.

Hopefully he was following, or we would both be in trouble. It was small room, really. The ceiling was lower than it was in the other rooms, and the area was much smaller. Along with being smaller in general, the room was also a lot dimmer. I mean, there was only one torch stuck on the far wall.

Cloud hurried after her as she went into some small room.  "I bet it's somewhere in here. After all this would be a great place to hide." He padded through the room and looked around. There were more symbols on the walls and elegant designs on the floor.

"I wonder what the beast looks like." he commented as he continued to look around. Why are these rooms always empty? There seemed to be nothing but torches in them.

I sighed and ran back into the hall, poking my head into all the rooms. All of these rooms looked the same. Man, did they get lazy with design, or what? And why did they even build this stupid place? It was a shrine, but it seemed like it was never used for that purpose anymore, in ever, for that matter. Room after room, I was slowly starting to lose confidence, a long with a little energy.

I shrugged at Cloud's question. "Just curious, but where exactly do you come from?"

Cloud stopped for a moment and looked thoughtful. "Well I come from a different planet called Gaia. I was human there." He smiled before moving on. "Then one day I fell asleep like always and woke up here as a hydrokuhna. I still don't know what happened." He sighed and kept walking.

"The first person I met was Talcen. He offered me a place to stay for free, so I went with him. He didn't seem too crazy then, but as soon as we reached his little village he went mad. Something's wrong with that guy, but anyway that's where I'm from. How about you?" He stopped and looked at Chen.

I was a little sensitive about that subject, more so around strangers, but... He had told me where he came from, so it was only right for me to tell him, right? I mean, he must miss his home a lot, too. I sighed and looked down at my feet, moving my hands behind my back.

"Well, I've always lived here in Evelon. At east, as far as I could remember. I had two older sisters that I grew up with. But... when I was younger, around five or six, I got lost. And, well... I haven't seen them since. I really miss them, though," I blinked a couple of times to stop myself from crying. "But then, Atoli found me wandering around and took me in. That... that was around... eight years ago, I think."

"I'm sorry for your lost." he said, and he ment it. He too had lost some people close to him, he lost them to death not by getting lost. "But I'm sure you'll find her again." Cloud smiled hopefully.

"So you want to keep looking or take a break? Nothing seems to be here so maybe if we wait for awhile something may appear." He sat down and looked around again. Still nothing that hinted at where the beast could be.

I smiled at Cloud - he was quite nice, for being a total stranger and all. "Thank you. And I suppose we could wait here for a while," I replied cheerfully, sitting down against the wall.

I didn't know why, but strangely, I actually wanted to take a break. Who knows, maybe a Hunter or Mekkayena would end up appearing while we were waiting. And if that was the case, then it certainly wouldn't be claiming the shrine as its home! It was going to go back with either me or Cloud, whether it liked it or not. The way things were looking, probably not. If it did wanna come back with us, it would've already come over to us, right?
