Michael decided to quit while he was behind. He closed his eyes, speaking carefully. "I'm sorry. My master asked that you be brought to him. However, if you resist and spare me, I will return and claim that you could not be found."
He couldn't help but be a little surprised when his apology worked, and Asara stopped singing, the net disappearing. He watched in surprise as the woman turned away from him, heading back down the mountain.
"Wait!" he said. The woman stopped, turning halfway, looking at him. He faltered. "I... What are you?"
He could see her weighing her words before she spoke, two words that burned themselves into his mind:
