Blood... there was no mistaking the sweet rusted scent of the crimson liquid. Vainglory sniffed at the air again licking his lips in anticipation. It was human... from what he could tell. He spread his long bony wings out and flew up into the air looking for what was bleeding so profusely, then he spotted it. Below him was a man in a lab coat that was splotched with the sanguine fluid. His ruby eyes lit up and his pupils turned to slits, he rubbed his snake-like tongue over his fangs growing excited at the sight of vulnerable prey. He landed close enough to be in range, but also far away enough so that the man could not hear or see him.
Outright attacking someone was not the way Vain went about things. He always chose a different method, yes, he wanted to earn this man's trust before carrying on with his ulterior motives. It was always in a Demon's nature to be manipulative and deceitful. Being ages old and a top general for Lord Faust, this nature came easilly to Vain. He wrapped his spaded thorny tail around himself with a curious smirk. This man wasn't ordinary, that was true enough. What really caught his eye was how he was dressed, there was no doubt in his mind that he was a scientist.. like him.
Not wanting to frighten the injured man then subsequently confuse him right away saying he was a demon who was a scientist, Vainglory decided to take on his human form. His dark clothes were replaced with a clean white lab-coat, complete with slacks, a tie, and dress shirt and ornamented with a belt with various bottles and vials. He also had large goggles fixed with wires, and a strange gauntlet with glowing blue tubes protruding from it. He pushed his glasses up on his face and prepared for an act.
He crept over being careful enough not to be seen just yet, then jumped off a short cliff so that he sat at the edge of the path up to the shrine. He put on his best smile and headed up, finally meeting the man in question. He faked a shocked expression and ran over to him, "Sir.. sir! Are you still in there? You need medical attention right away!" he looked back and forth and then to the shrine, "Come with me, at least I can get you somewhere out of the cold."
