-: Meeting Under A Blue Moon :- (self ; Done)

Postby Sarah » 06/05/2013 1:03 AM

The ruins of a small village sat silently in the cold night of the mountains. Blood and bones covered by the thick layers of snow that had fallen over the months that passed. It had been a horrific battle that ended up flattening the town and killing most living things in a two mile radius now all that was left where pillars of stone that held up the town hall and church. A full moon shined brightly overhead, marking the month of the blue moon. A special time for many species paragon especially held this time in reverence. For the paragon of the mountain the blue moon was their time of rebirth a time when the elderly and injured would go into a comatose state and reawaken younger and stronger like they were before.

On very rare occasions mother paragon would give birth during a blue moon. If this was to happen the paragon would abandon the eggs to the god of the mountain a creature which they worshiped loyally. They believed he was the one who gave the ability to reverse their time clocks and begin again. Many even claim to have seen him it was only when this town had been destroyed that the paragon got to see the face of their god. Who, to their shock, was an angel who had powers over time. At first they were outraged and demanded that he pay for his falseness. But this angel was a clever man. He knew how to hit the paragon where it would hurt. The paragon of course were not stupid creatures so he could have always used logic to sway them but they seemed to lose their minds over the fact that he was ‘pretending’ to be a god. He threatened their immortality and safety. In return the promised to keep giving the eggs of the blue moon to the angel in the spot of the village.

It was the blue moon again and it was the first time in a long time that a paragon had hatchlings. Two beautiful but odd colored eggs came from the proud mother. One was deep red with a purple starlight pattern over the top which was covered with blue and grey swirls. The other was pale yellow with bold gold etching and soft greed marks that climbed the egg like vines over soft splotched of pale blue. The mother was hysterical when the elders took the two eggs claiming that not only where the eggs so different that the hatchlings would be unfit, but that the angel would kill them all if they didn’t make it to the village. The elders where careful to set the eggs in the exact center and put them close together, but not so close that they touched. They shunned the eggs saying that if they hadn’t seen the mother give birth they would have never thought the eggs to be from the same clutch.

Hours passed and the moon was high in the sky midnight had hit and with it came the soft chirps of the hatchlings awakening from their sleep. In old lore paragon born from the blue moon were long dead paragon being reawakened. More often than not those paragon has special skills or had an important destiny ahead of them. It was slow work for the hatchlings for minutes they sat in their eggs chirping for a mother that would never come. Then instinct took hold and the two eggs started to crack apart at the force of the hatchlings beaks hitting the shell.

With the remnants of the now pulverized egg shell scattered around her the first of the two opened her soft blue eyes and took a long look around her. She didn’t really understand what was going on. Shouldn’t she have a mother? Where were the others? Was she alone? How would she be able to eat or keep warm? Only a few of her questions could be answered immediately. Looking to her left she saw another egg that was still struggling to crack. She found that the cold of the snow mixed with that of the wind didn’t really affect her. Her pale colored scales acted as a shield to the soft skin underneath. She purred at the revelation she would never have to be cold! Though she didn’t quite understand what coldness was her instincts just told her to hate coldness and hotness too. For now the hatchling felt just fine a perfect in-between temperature. She was a little baffled by the world it was very pretty. The perfectly round moon guarded the night sky and cast a flawless white glow down unto the world. The snow reflected that light, shimmering in the most pleasant way. The hatchling had a feeling like something was missing though it looked to her that there should be creatures around her now. No one was there however and that confused the hatchling it upset her to know that others weren’t around to see her new form. She looked to her left once again to check up on the other egg not that she really cared but she wanted to know if this egg may know something she didn’t.

The dark colored egg was having trouble opening, and the hatchling inside was starting to panic. She soon felt a hard knock from the outside and a creeping ray of light seeped through the pinhole crack that was left behind. With another hard whack the hatchling was able to escape the confines of the egg shell. It broke easily now and was spread around with the other egg shell. This new hatchling now had to take in this new world. She saw the darkness and the sparkling lights in the sky. A round greyish colored thing was up there to with all the glittering lights. The hatchling found that she was neither hot not cold and somehow knew that being too much of either of those things was something she should avoid. She looked over her shoulder to see the creature that had helped her out of her shell. Shocked to find it was another hatchling one that looked like it was going to be hard to shut up if the thing ever found its voice.

The new hatchling leaped backwards extending her wings. They unfurled with a sound similar to that of a sword coming unsheathed. Though the hatchling never left the ground she had propelled herself back about ten feet. Marveling at the fact that she could use these things to pick herself of the ground she moved her neck to get a better look. The wings where red like her claws and tail razors. Like her tail it looked like her wings where made up of razor blades stretched out and put up against each other. Something that shouldn’t allow her to fly, but somehow she was able to manage. The newest hatchling looked up from her wings to glance at the pale colored hatchling across the way. It looked insulted at the fact that the darker hatchling had reacted so badly. It opened its mouth and let out a fearsome roar, hot pale yellow flames escaped the hatchling and both of the paragon looked at each other in wonder. The darker hatchling opened her mouth now and let out a roar, dark blue flames pushing their way out of the paragon’s body and melting the snow it came in contact with. Both hatchlings smiled at each other and with a small nod they started heading their separate ways.

A powerful voice sounded above them, stopping them both in their tracks. “Whoa there little ones you have to come with Me.” the voice sounded like it was coming from a man and the two looked up to see a dog-like creature flying in the sky with the stars and the moon. Neither hatchling could speak, but they were able to nod their heads clearly enough that the floating creature knew they would be going with him. “good.” The thing mumbled touching the snow gingerly as he settled onto the ground. “Ready to go then?” he asked, and the two hatchlings nodded. “good.” It said again, transforming into a pink hairless creature. Two squishy hands touched the hatchling’s foreheads and when they opened their eyes the hatchlings were bewildered. Their surroundings had changed now they were in a sort of log structure that was much too cramped and hot.

While they took in their new surroundings they could smell the scents of many different dog creatures. And they saw two sitting on opposite sides of the room looking very unhappy. Sensing the mood was not a good one the paragon sat down and waited for what would come next knowing that they would be able to protect themselves from the scale free creatures around them. “That it then?” the one with lighter blue markings said, it sounded more annoyed than anything. The darker paragon noticed that the one with the darker markings was looking at them with more interest than the other. The hatchling took it upon herself to walked over to the thing. Thankful that she legs had grown steadier for some reason the hatchling wanted to look her best for this creature.  A small smile appeared on the things face, this made the hatchling happy. And slowly a connection started to form the hatchling didn’t know if it was the creature or if it was her own doing. Within moment though the connection was set and a rush of thoughts and memories flooded into the hatchlings mind and from what she could tell thoughts were also going into the creatures mind.

The hatchling heard the creature gasp, and though the little paragon had only moments of experience and memory the thing seemed to find it hard to take in. whereas the small paragon took the memories and thoughts of the creature in stride not questioning or shunning any of it. These thoughts were infinitely beneficial to the paragon so she wasn’t about to complain. “Did you figure out its name?” the large teleporting creature asked the paragon felt a little hurt by it. To the shock of the paragon the voice that came from the creature sounded defensive, “Yes. Her name is Dragi.” The thing growled glaring at the two dog creatures. –dragi.- the paragon tasted the name, in the language of the mountain clan she was born from it meant dragon leader. Pleased Dragi made a soft of harsh purring noise, and testing out the open connection with the creature she had chosen she let her feelings filter into the things mind. At first the creature had a pained look, and then a smile split across its face. –I’m Kahlee by the way.- the creature thought back. Dragi chirped in delight, Kahlee was a good name. It was strange, the small paragon had only been alive for a few hours but already she felt a strong connection to this Kahlee, and knew more of the world than the average hour old creature.

Not wanting to be left behind the yellow paragon walked up to the other, less happy looking creature. “Hey.” Was all it said, its voice sounding angry. But the two could feel a connection forming and soon the pair was experiencing the same thing that Dragi and Kahlee had. “And this one’s name.” the man asked. “Her name is Amina.” The woman creature said. The yellow paragon nodded, delighted that her name sounded as beautiful as the paragon herself. Amina gave the huntress a quizzical look; unsure what she should call her new friend. Friend being used in a loose sense, this creature seemed to have an untrusting and aloof outer shell especially around the other hunter woman. –I guess you can call me Arco.- the huntress shot at Amina. With a soft shake of her head the paragon decided to leave the rudeness behind her and shuffled closer to Arco.

Neitcha smiled as the two paragon got comfortable with their new masters. All too soon he was back to business. “It won’t take long for them to grow, though they won’t be mature for many years. Just be sure to keep their fire breath in check. Most people in Evelon are tolerant of paragon, and you may run into some shape shifters or other clan paragon on your journey.” Giving one last glance at the four he snapped his fingers and they were gone from his home. Rubbing his hands over his face he sent a small prayer to the gods that the two hunters would be able to control their paragon. The last thing he wanted was for the inexperienced masters to set a city on fire.
