"I can't believe you'd do this to me," muttered the shadowy figure as it held up a crystal, staring at the shrine around it. "I'm only supposed to exist for one-offs, you know! Can't you just pull someone else out to deal with it? You've got so many pets without any characterization!"

Shut up, this is faster and I don't want to go searching through my pen for someone who fits.

"Oh come on, you don't even have any ideas for this."

Which is why I'm using you, since you were designed to exist for cases like this where I don't have any ideas. I just want ten posts from you, that's not too hard, is it?

"It's not like I have much characterization besides being annoyed with you, you know. Why'd you make me so snarky anyways?"

"Yeah, I suppose so. Hey, are you just breaking up this conversation whenever we reach 75 words?"

Well, not quite. But yeah, I am breaking it up much more irregularly than I'm doing with some of my other posts for this event.

"Are you sure you can make it to ten posts?"

Yes, now do something with the crystal.

The shadowy figure shrugged and threw said crystal straight at the ground.

No, not like that!

"What?" it muttered. "It's not like I could actually damage it in any way." It did seem true, as the crystal was still glowing merrily. It hadn't even been separated from its charger.

"Besides, it's not like this event depends on the crystal remaining unbroken. Technically we didn't even really need a crystal, did we?"

Well, it's something for you to interact with.

The ground began to rumble.

"Oh come on!" exclaimed the figure. "You're doing this now?"

Look, it was an option on the prompt list!

"I don't care! Why aren't you using the shadowy creature attack? That's something I could handle!"

I've already used it twice, it's time for something else.

"This is the worst option and I can't believe you'd inflict it on me." The shadowy figure crossed its arms as it looked around. So far, the ground just seemed to be shaking, not actually cracking. It reached down to pick up the crystal.

The rumbling grew louder, and rougher. The figure looked around even more frantically, trying to figure out an escape route. Suddenly, the ground right beneath its feet cracked open, and it hurriedly jumped backwards as more cracks started appearing around it.

"I hate you, you know that?"

Oh, you don't really mean it that way.

"Well, right now I do!" However, the figure didn't throw the crystal to the ground again, instead running towards one of the cracks and trying to jump it.

The figure soared through the air like a majestic bird, carried not by wings but simply by the wind and its own strength.

"You still can't decide if I have muscles, can you?"

Oh come on, I'm giving you a cool moment here!

"Yeah, yeah, now just let me land already."

The figure landed hard on the other side, looking around as it saw more cracks begin to appear, almost as if they were chasing it.

Or...were they chasing the crystal?

"Yeah, they totally are. It literally got worse when I picked it up. Please tell me you'll at least stop this when it's all fully charged?"

Hey, no spoilers!

"Oh god, why are you like this."

Hurry up now, we're almost at the required post count!

"Fine!" Muttering to itself, the figure started running forwards, hopefully towards somewhere further away from the shrine. However, it soon realized this direction was leading it uphill.

As the figure scrambled higher and higher, the crystal started to glow brighter and brighter, as if the height was invigorating it more. Noticing this, the figure redoubled its efforts to climb, even as the earth behind it groaned and cracked, as if trying to suck it deep down within.

"Yeah, yeah, nice descriptions. Now let's get to the top and end this, alright?"

Finally, there was no climbing higher. The figure stood on a plateau, watching as the cracks rushed closer and closer.

However, finally, the crystal erupted in a bright glow that seemed to radiate outwards and fill the entire location around the shrine. The rumbling stopped, and as the light faded it became clear that most of the cracks had closed up, the ground returning to normal. The figure slowly started to climb back down.

"I am never helping you with something like this again. You should have planned your time better."

I had multiple RP events!
