This definitely had Sukai thinking. Sure, Hunters didn't hunt in 'packs' but weren't they powerful?
Mekkayena's probably did. From what he heard of them, they sure seemed to be that way. Making a small smile, Sukai looked to his companions confidently, "Not a problem. We have a Hollowheart! What pack would want to try and mess with that?" He laughed slightly, and turned to lead the group towards a dark and ominous end of the hallway. "Why don't we start off there? 'The Halls Of Amnesty And Rememberance.'"?

The clumsiness was beginning to annoy FIrabi. She growled at herself, crossing her eyes in an attempt to be comical.
"You don't have to be frightened of the Hunters or the Mekkayenas. If they try to hurt any of you, I will stop them. This I promise you." She nodded her head vigorously. Now it seemed so easy to get past her loss and live once more in the present that she had missed so.
Pondering on what the Sahound had asked about where to begin their hunt, Firabi tilted her head to the side, once again feeling concious of her pulsating. She hoped that it did not frighten the others; she did not want to lose the chance of making friends with them.
"Why don't we just wander about aimlessly? That always seems to gather attention at my pen." she suggested, not positive of what else to say.

"Actually, that's a good idea, Firabi. Let's combine your and Sukai's ideas by wandering in The Halls Of Amnesty And Rememberance," agreed Genesis. While he wanted to find a Hunter, his brother Cyclone wanted to find a Mekkayena. He shuddered at the thought of looking into those demonic eyes and smelling the rancid breath of a Mekkayena on his face. "We should get going." He bounded toward The Halls Of Amnesty And Rememberance, trying not to think about finding a Mekkayena.
"Yeah, we should get going," said Cyclone. Truthfully, he was scared to death at finding a Hunter, but really wanted to find a Mekkayena. He shivered violently at the thought of cutting himself in the crystalline skin and hearing the deafening roar of a Hunter. He shakily followed his brother into The Halls Of Amnesty And Rememberance. "Come on, guys!" he said, temporarily forgetting about his fear.

The enthusiasm of the two brothers warmed the soft, breakable shell that was Firabi's mistreated heart. She swaggered along after them, her tail swinging to and fro, no longer willing to have her body be clumsy.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," she mumbled, not wanting to leave Sukai behind. "You young Evelonians are much more spontaneous than I had previously thought."
How much could her centuries-old bones really take? Firabi was more than willing to test their limits.

He froze in his paw-steps as he heard of the plan. That was a good idea, combining two in one.
With a nod, he went to speak.. but the two mice-looking brothers took off towards The Halls. Sukai just turned to Firabi, and spoke slowly. "Thank you for that promise. To protect us, I mean."  He then paused, and couldn't help but laugh at the Hollowhearts comment, "How old are you?" He asked curiously, hoping not to be offensive. "You don't seem that old to me."

Firabi trudged after the two brothers as she thought about her age. "You know, Sukai, I'm really not sure. Before, I was just over one thousand years old; I don't know how many years it's been since then, though. I'd guess that I am about 1,100."
She honestly hoped that the information would not frighten the Yonyuu. There were creatures in her past who were not comfortable being around others who were so vastly their elders. It seemed to her that Sukai, Genesis or Cyclone were not anywhere close to one thousand.

Genesis and Cyclone walked slowly through the The Halls Of Amnesty And Rememberance. "Wow. Some De-ja-vu, huh?" whispered Cyclone as they looked at the candles.
"Indeed. Good, Firabi and Sukai are coming," Genesis quickly changed the subject, still thinking about how frightening Mekkayenas were.
Cyclone eyed his brother suspiciously. "You aren't scared, are you?" he mocked.
Genesis hesitated for a moment. "Yes, and you?"
There was another pause. "Yes..." admitted Cyclone. "Either way, we should start looking for a--" Cyclone cut off when he saw a dark shadow move across the hall and disappear into The Halls Of Purity. "Hey, bro', did you see that? It could be a Mekkayena!" he whispered.
"Or a Hunter!" Genesis agreed softly. "Firabi, Sukai! Follow us!" Genesis and Cyclone quickly slinked into The Halls Of Purity after the shadow they saw.

"Yep!" Firabi called. "We're coming!"
She flapped her wings excitedly. They might finally be on to something! Personally, she hoped that it would be a Hunter, since the Mekkayenas she had heard about generally were not very smart or considerate. This she confided in Sukai hushedly.
"I want this baby to be a Hunter. Much smarter than Mekkayena, yup yup. And I generally prefer men who sparkle over those who drool everywhere!" She laughed genially. She'd take hunting for suspicious beasts over moping in a corner any day!

1,100 years old?
Sukai didn't know how to respond to that.  It didn't bother him at all, however made him want to bomb her with questions. Had she been anywhere besides Evelon? Any endangered or rare/extinct creatures? Humans?
He, however, didn't want to be disrespectful. Besides, hearing the two Sahound brothers call to them woke him up from his daydreaming. Perhaps.. he could ask later?
"That's amazing," He breathed out softly, "To be that old. She must be wise." He looked up to Firabi, and grinned, speaking to her now. "Is that so?" He laughed, "I don't much care what this may be. It would be amazing to see one of them, even a dumb Mekkayena, don't you agree?" With a laugh, he began to run off towards the brother's voices. "We're coming!"

Firabi could sense the curiousity bubbling in Sukai's brain, and smiled. Ahh, this freedom, how good it felt!
"I don't mind if you ask questions, Sukai." she teased, flicking the Yonyuu's head lightly with her tail. "And yes, it would actually be fascinating to meet a wild creature. I wonder how long it will take to find one.." She trailed off, thinking. Would it be hours, days, weeks, months? Years? Honestly, she would not mind to spend that much time with these three... friends. They were absolutely joy-making.
"Hey, are you gonna wait for us, or are you just going to run through this whole place on your own?"

Genesis whirled around at Firabi's call. He blushed. "Oh, sorry. I was kind of, uhh, caught in the moment, how you say?" he said, embarrassed. Cyclone, however, went on, running after the moving shadow. Knocking over a candle or two, that were thankfully unlit, he chased the shadow into, you guessed it, the Halls of the Lost.
"Wait! Cyclone! Don't go in there alone, it's dangerous!" called Genesis. There was no reply. Genesis quickly ran back to Firabi and Sukai. "Friends, my bother has disappeared into The Halls of the Lost! We must find him before he gets hurt!" Or does something stupid... he added in his mind.

Wincing slightly from the small and entertaining flick of her tail, Sukai smiled slightly to Firabi. "Thanks," He said calmly. "Then with your permission, may I ask a few?" His ear flicked towards the two brother's direction. "Erm.. later," He told the Hollowheart as he veered around to the front. "The Halls of the Lost?" Sukai repeated as a question. Without further ado, Sukai ran towards where Cyclone had disappeared.
"Cyclone?" He called, as he entered the halls, and thusly slowing his pace in suspicion before coming to a stop. His heart raced.
Was he okay?

Firabi took to the air, more gracefully than she had truthfully expected, and soared above Sukai into the Halls of the Lost, being sure to stay within sight of the light pooling in from the last room.
"Cyclone?" she called as she came to a stop on the cold, hard floor. It was quite dark. "Where have you gone?"
For a moment she wished that she were a Battleheart, bigger, stronger and with heightened senses, the contradicted herself. Nonono, she chastised harshly. They are as stupid as rocks, Fiira.
"What shall we do?" she fretted aloud, her eyebrows knotted together in the center of her red, scaly face. So soon, so soon to lose another...

As Cyclone:
The shadow suddenly shot up to the ceiling. He saw a vague pair of Hunter eyes looking down on him where the shadow was hanging. Cyclone shook his head violently. When he looked again the eyes were gone. Had he just imagined the eyes? Wow, this must be why they call it the Halls of the Lost. I sure am that.

As Genesis:
"Oh, brother, where are you?" called Genesis loudly. His voice echoed through the Halls of the Lost. Suddenly, he saw another shadow dart down a different hallway. "Don't chase it, Genesis..." he said to himself. "Well, it could lead me to Cyclone..." he said. He dashed down the hallway, until he came to a dead end. The shadow stopped, and a pair of menacing Mekkayena eyes bored into him. He flinched, and ran. However, he stopped suddenly, and looked around at where the eyes were. They were gone. Maybe I am going crazy... he thought. "Don't worry guys! I'm not lost, too. I'm coming back!" he said to Firabi and Sukai as he ran back toward them. He quickly told them what he saw.

Firabi fought to maintain control over her expression. Real Mekkayena eyes?
"Are you sure that it was actually a Mekkayena, and not the light playing tricks on you, Genesis? You know, it would be rather easy for that to happen here, my friend. Sukai, what do you think? Is this real, or is it a ploy staged by this silly place?"
She was reluctant to believe that they would find a Mekkayena so soon, much less one that would not have sprung upon the Sahound at the first chance it received. It would shock her even more if he had seen a placid Hunter... And earlier she would have preferred to have spotted one! OH, the places your body goes when your mind wanders...
