Selka was a little startled when they came face to face with a grondalith. She hadn't seen this particular variation before, but knew of the species itself. Xiya peered over her shoulder, curiosity obvious in the tilt of her face. Selka noticed her and smiled. She shook her head slowly as not to alarm the creature that seemed to be looking back at them in startled curiosity.
Slowly, Selka handed Xiya the flashlight, pulled off her pack, and reached into its depths. From the bottom, she pulled up a little stone that was nearly pitch black but seemed to have something swirling inside like smoke. In a quick, fluid motion, she chucked the stone at the grondalith with amazing accuracy. The creature's eyes only had time to widen before the stone shattered harmlessly against its forehead. At that instant, the very shadows of the cave seemed to swallow the grondalith whole - the two ladies only caught a single glimpse of its mouth gaping in shock before it disappeared.
