The Fe'gan Mountains are the highest, coldest mountains Lambastia has to offer, with the highest peak recorded at 8589 m (28,179 ft). Only the toughest creatures survive here, and the trek to get to the Basantha Shrine lays through these harsh conditions. (+3 Endurance)

Return to Fe'gan Mountains

She remembered her reason for this trip, and considered that the feathered researcher who had sent her down here might like to observe this creature. Kyrx considered ways she could capture it for further study, but she was coming up short of any good solutions. She simply hadn't brought the kind of gear needed for animal husbandry. It hadn't occurred to her that she would need it.

Looks like she was just going to have to sketch the creature and return with that. If he wanted to see it for himself, well, he could just use the map she made to come take a look in person. Kyrx pulled out her sketching journal and began to scratch notes about the creature into it.

She sketched quickly, as she expected the creature to take off at any moment. Perhaps literally. The extra appendages at its side appeared to be wings. Whether or not they worked for flight, she couldn't say. Still, it seemed doubly odd to her for a flighted creature to be down here. If she could fly, she would never leave the sky, no less hide deep underground. Perhaps creatures in the sky felt the same way she did, but in the reverse. Very interesting indeed.

While she sketched, the creature did not flee as expected, but instead crept closer to her. Kyrx found herself pleased that it considered her safe enough to approach. It felt nice to be trusted, however tenuous it might be. She liked to think that it was observing her, the same way she was observing it.

Eventually, Kyrx ran out of details she wanted to sketch, and she slipped her journal away.
She wanted to thank the creature for being so patient with her, but she figured it would fall on deaf ears.
Instead, she bowed her head respectfully and turned to head back the way she came.

With her six limbs and powerful tail, she easily found her way back up the rocky wall. With the long metal stripes she had seen before, it would be a simple task to find her way back to the waterfall. The familiar click-clack of her powerful hind claws followed her through the tunnel. Much to her surprise, she could hear another set, distinct from her own. Kyrx turned around to see the golden creature from before. It followed her up the wall and down the tunnel.

She couldn't be sure why the creature was following her, but she wasn't about to argue with it, either. Apparently it trust her enough to come along, at least for now. It felt nice to be trusted, she thought. Though it was also entirely possible that the creature was still studying her, the same way she had been studying it. It was hard to say, really.

"Thees way," she indicated with a wave of her claw. The sound of her voice echoed slightly in the tunnel.
The creature was silent. Perhaps, if she was lucky, the creature would follow her all the way to the surface. Then she would be able to show it to the researcher. How pleased would he be to be able to study such a fascinating creature? Kyrx liked that idea, and decided she would treat the creature well in hopes that she could make it happen.

As expected, it didn't take her long at all to travel the tunnel back to where the water was flowing from the wall. She looked back now and then to see how her new friend was doing, and it was doing exactly the same thing every time. Silently and slowly following behind her. It had no real reaction to the water, either. It's stoic nature puzzled Kyrx, so she continued her observations in hopes of any clues.

This area was already scratched into her map, but there was one wall she didn't follow all the way yet. There had been a fork in the road, and she chose the one that led to a dead end. Ah well, at least she got that out of the way first. Plus, if she hadn't, perhaps she and the creature may never have crossed paths.
