(Continuation of Ouranos and Lassendira's breeding)

Lassendira - 462d67

Lassendira couldn't help but chuckle when Ouranos said that, before she knew it, she'd be running (or rather, flying) with the best of them.  True, she was looking forward to the day where she could, just maybe, be in the position of the famed coaches that she admired so.  Of course, she knew that she had some serious ground to cover before she ever reached their level, but she had very few doubts about her ability to do so, if she simply believed in herself.

"All right, follow me," Lassendira said, turning and doing a slight dive to her right.  It only took a few moments for her to realize that Sangi had left some time ago; presumably heading back to the cave to preen, and doubtless to talk with her brother.  "Sangi and Blödhren will most likely be there to greet us, but I don't know.  They might've gone out to take care of some of their own hunting and the like.  Very spirited little creatures, they are," she added over her shoulder, pulling back slightly as she lighted upon the ledge outside of her cave.

"Well," she said.  "This is it--my little corner out of the Tuun Mountain range.  Still exploring pieces of it myself, trying to see what there is to be seen.  But, mostly, it's the place where I make my roost and where I train."
Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

Ouranos dipped his head as Lassendira indicated that he should follow her, and angling his wings, stooped after her in the air. The pace that she set was a comfortable one to follow, and he glided easily behind her. “I’m sure it’s nice to have them with you out here for companions,” he said agreeably. “Judging by what I’ve seen out here up until now, I daresay it would get rather lonely to live out here on one’s own. Not to mention dangerous, if anything were to happen.” He wondered if she was ever concerned for her own safety – what if one of her aerial acrobatics went wrong and she hurt herself too badly to fly? Would her friends be able to help her? Perhaps they were close enough to a town for them to fetch someone if necessary. Still though, considering the risky nature of her practice, he couldn’t help but be worried for her. It wasn’t his place to say so though, so he let the matter rest for the time being.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at her roost, just a few miles away from his own. He spared a thought for Sekhmet – she would probably be awake soon, but she would be alright on her own for a day. Perhaps he would go fetch her at some point so that the two females could get a chance to meet each other. He thought that they might get along well, but that musing was for later. “It’s a nice place you’ve got here,” he commented after backpedaling in the air to come to a soft landing on the ledge. “Certainly more like home than my current abode, but I suppose that comes with time,” he added with a chuckle.

Ah, yes; he'd hit it right on the head there.  "It can be lonely most of the time, yes," Lassendira said.  "It's also very far from any town, so it can be a little unsettling, sometimes.  But, thus far, I've been all right.  I haven't injured myself beyond ability to care for myself yet, so."

Here, she chuckled slightly.  It was always something that was on her mind, whether or not her newest trick would leave her as very vulnerable prey for anything in the area that had a taste for meat and feathers.

"Well, it didn't feel like home for a long time," Lassendira said.  "But, after a while, it did start feeling like home--as much as a cave by oneself could feel like home.  Sangi and Blödhren didn't start sharing my cave until very recently." Here, she turned her head toward the mouth of her den.  "Sangi!  Blödhren!" she called out.  After a few moments, two rather small shadows emerged from the cave.

"Sangi told me that you were out this morning, that you'd met someone this morning, Sendi," the brown-bodied Kitrell said, his voice still groggy.  "Said something about talking incredibly loudly at first..."

"You'll have to pardon my brother; he's... far from being an early bird, let alone even a morning-time Kitrell," the red Kitrell said, chuckling lightly.  "Now... oh, what was your name again?  I know you mentioned it when we were outside..." she said.  Lassendira chuckled as she cleared her throat.

"Sangi, Blödhren--this is Ouranos.  Ouranos, these are my friends, Sangi and Blödhren.  We actually met each other a few weeks ago.  They're also training for the Tournament of the Sky-Dancers," she said.

Ouranos had to marvel at Lassendira’s bravery; it took a certain kind of person to find the motivation that she had to come out here and live alone in such a remote area, just for the sake of practice. That was determination and love of the sport if he’d ever seen it, and he admired her greatly for it. There weren’t that many people out there who had the kind of drive that she did, and he knew that if she persevered, it would take her far indeed. “That sounds like quite the journey indeed,” he said in reply, respect evident in his voice. “If no one’s ever told you before, you’re certainly one in a million.” He grinned encouragingly at her.

At the sound of other voices, Ouranos turned to see the two small, winged creatures emerge from the mouth of the cave. If Lassendira hadn’t summoned them first, giving him some forewarning, they likely would have caught him rather off guard again, despite the fact that he’d already met one of them just earlier today. Clearly, Sekhmet wasn’t the only person who liked her beauty rest, he thought to himself with an inward chuckle. As Lassendira introduced (or in Sangi’s case, re-introduced) her friends, Ouranos tipped his head politely in acknowledgement to each in turn, making sure to remember who was who – after all, it would be rather embarrassing to get them mixed up during their first meeting.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” he said with a smile, very quickly adapting to this new situation. After all, he wasn’t used to creatures as small as they being – he assumed – as clever (if not more so) than he. If anything, it was all rather fascinating, although he kept his curiosity politely in check for his new acquaintances. He did have a rather difficult time imagining how they could possibly be judged in the same category as someone such as Lassendira though – with such drastically different body shapes, and likely flying styles, he would have thought it was like comparing apples to oranges. “So, are you all training to compete in the same event?”

"The pleasure is ours, Ouranos," Blödhren said, dipping his head slightly.  "It isn't every day that we end up with company--Sendi was the first person in these mountains to speak to us since... as long as I can remember, wouldn't you say, Sangi?" he asked his sister.

"Yes, and she wasn't shy at all," Sangi said.  "At first, I thought that she was trying to sabotage our entry into the Tournament, but almost every competitor thinks that at first, when they see someone watching their routine and sizing up their moves.

Lassendira blushed slightly before she chuckled quietly, remembering that first encounter.  They had been rather shocked at first; after all, Lassendira was several times larger than them, and Soverises were known hunters.  After a moment, she cleared her throat.

"Well, I guess you could say that I frightened them," she said.  "They won't stop calling me Sendi, though.  I guess, after telling them that I was merely interested in an eventual collaboration with them for the synchronized event and had no intent of eating them or of sabotaging their routine, they immediately adopted a status akin to 'best buds' and whatnot," she said, giving the two Kitrells a sideways glance.
