Luck was not on her side that night. As her hand brushed against the wall she felt something move under her fingers. It felt hairy and her brain immediately jumped to it being a spider. Wrenching her hand back she swung it all around as she screamed.

She really hoped it hadn't crawled on her. In her panic, she had found her way back over to the other side of the room with Snow, "I think I'm done looking for the light switch."

Snow stiffened when he heard Onix scream. He definitely didn't nearly jump out of his skin. No. Being in the dark with unknown, possible hostile, strangers. Why would her scream scare his heart into racing?

He looked over his shoulder at her, a glance, and he saw nothing. He didn't even see Onix for a moment. She reappeared by his side and he wondered how she had managed to get over to him so quickly without him seeing.

"I don't like spiders. There may or may not be one on me and I am deeply concerned about that fact," she muttered. She just now could feel the exhaustion of being up all night. It seemed like the night had gone on for years. The fact that they weren't any closer to figuring out who was the culprit was really getting to her.

Snow hummed his acknowledgement. There was not much in the way he could do for her about the spider.

He found a light switch, or a switch of some kind, and a door. He flipped the switch but nothing discernible happened. "Did you hear anything?" he asked. The desire to flick the switch a bunch of times was only quelled by the fact that something might've happened. If Onix didn't notice anything then he would give in to the switch flicking.

She listened for any noise but she couldn't pick up on anything. Her eyes scanned the darkness trying to spot a light on the ceiling somewhere. It was a pointless endeavor. She had been standing in the darkness for a while and her eyes had already adjusted but she still couldn't see that far into the darkness, "try it again."

Snow flicked the light switch up and down again. Nothing happened. It had crossed his mind that the light bulb, or bulbs it was connected to could be burnt out. He doubted it though. The family did maintain the house and grounds. "Maybe it has something to do behind the door?" he wondered. He felt along the seam of the doorway and sent a silent thank you that there was a knob. He turned it and pushed the door open.

Onix waited with her breath held. She heard him open the door and she sighed in relief as light flooded into the basement. Not much light but in comparison, it was welcoming to her eyes. It was an underground basement tunnel. It was dimly lit and she could see at the end was another door, "do you wanna go first."

Snow frowned at the sight before him. He hadn't known what to expect behind the door, but he knew now he hadn't been expecting a tunnel. "Yeah," he agreed, "I'll go first." It would probably be better for him to go first. The light was contained in sconces on the wall. Either the dust, or perhaps the quality of the bulbs within made sure the tunnel beyond was still shrouded in shadow.

She entered the tunnel hesitantly after Snow. She made sure to keep away from the walls just in case any spiders were lurking for revenge on their friend. The tunnel was long enough that she wasn't sure exactly where under the house they were or even if they were under it all. When they reach the door on the other side she turned to look behind her. Maybe it was just her nerves but she felt like they were being watched.

The hair on the back of Snow's neck prickled the entire way down the tunnel. The whole thing was very strange. He wasn't sure what a fairly modern mansion needed with something so fantastical as this. If he were to guess he'd say the tunnel led the whole way across the mansion.

"Ready?" he asked once they reached the other end. He turned the knob but found it was locked. "It's locked."

Onix groaned, "of course it's locked." She was about to resign from being in the tunnel when she remembered earlier in the night. "Oh yeah. I picked these off the ground from earlier," she pulled the large ring of keys out of her pocket.

Holding them up for Snow she asked, "do you think it could be one of these?"

Snow stared incredulously at the ring of keys. Why? Why. He decided not to voice the question. Just as well he wasn't going to take them from Onix either. "Maybe. You're free to try," he said. Snow stepped back from the door so Onix had room to work.

He turned his attentions to the wall. The stone was smooth. A tunnel in a strange mining sense. How the thing hadn't collapsed... How did they wire the electricity for the lights?

She waited until he stepped aside before confronting the door. Onix looked down at all the keys debating where to start. Giving a little shrug she randomly picked one.

"Here goes nothing," she said and started to get to work testing each key in the hole. It wasn't until she halfway through the keyring that she finally found the one that unlocked the door.

"Ah-ha!" she swung the door open to find another darkened room. "Oh," her triumphant face fell.

Snow looked around Onix into the room. The dim light of the tunnel allowed him to see a bit more. It looked to be a storage room. He wasn't sure if that was what it was meant to be, but it looked much like the last room they'd left. "Maybe it'll be easier to find a switch for this room," he commented.

Onix suppressed a groan. How come the lights couldn't just be on to begin with. Who ever it was running around trying to scare them must have some way of seeing in the dark. She was refusing to believe it was anything other than a human doing this.

"Oh yay!" She said sarcastically as she began to look around.
