The longest range in Lambastia, the Tuun Mountains cover up much of the northwest. Unlike the harsh Fe'gan Mountains, the Tuun Mountains have varying temperatures, from very mild to slightly colder depending on where you go and which sections you explore. (+3 Offense)

Return to Tuun Mountains

Heart of the Mountains [P]

Sierra
[Currently in Kuhna form, but can change on a whim]

The sun beamed down lazily on the expansive mountain range, warming the peaks and valleys that made up the Tuun Mountains. Only a few puffy white clouds chased each other across the picturesque blue sky, the perfect day for being outdoors. The temperature was balmy, and the coming of spring heralded the return of greenery and flowers to the southernmost part of the mountain range, where the warm weather returned earlier in the year than further up north. Birds that had returned after overwintering in more tropical parts of the continent now filled the air with the sounds of their songs, and the atmosphere seemed to be abuzz with activity as creatures of all shapes and sizes went about preparing for the new season.

One figure seemed immune to the infectious energy which permeated the rest of the forest; it was easy to miss at a glance, but up on a low branch of a large oak tree perched a russet-hued, rather amorphous ball of fluff. The only indication that it wasn’t actually a part of the tree itself was the occasional swish of red and black striped tail, languorous motions that bespoke a lack of motivation to waste energy. The ball of fluff was actually the body of a small, red panda-like Kuhna – an altogether unassuming (if deceptively adorable) appearance. Easily mistaken for just another inhabitant of the thick forests which blanketed this part of the Tuun Mountains, there was actually much, much more to Sierra than initially met the eye.

In reality, Sierra was no mere woodland creature, but rather a spirit which embodied the mountain range itself. She herself couldn’t remember when her guardianship of this part of Evelon started, and there was no one to say that there ever really had been a beginning to speak of. This was all she knew, and watching over the mountains was all that she could remember. To others, it might seem like a rather dull existence, but to her, these mountains were the world, and there were plenty of ravages to protect them from, ranging from natural disasters to less-than-natural ones (which usually involved chainsaws and all manners of unnatural chemicals). Today seemed to be a rather laid-back day though, fortunately, which explained why Sierra could now be found basking in a patch of sunlight on her bough of choice. She was one who appreciated the little joys in life like this, and until her next task came calling, she was content to sit back and watch the world buzz around her.

Arlür.  Kuhna form.

The Wynd Kuhna had spent many a day exploring the jungles.  She knew most areas of the jungle like the backs of her paws, although she could still find new things to do every time she went out.  However, she decided that she wanted to see something new--newer than anything she could find in the jungles.

And so, Arlür had made her way out to the mountains.

She padded along, looking around at all of the things that she could see.  Everything was so different from the jungles, and her blue eyes were wide with wonder.  There were other beings in the mountains that saw her, and some of them doubtless thought that she had either never seen the mountains, or that she was crazy.  Everything was just so different then what she was used to.
Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

Normally, the day-to-day was relatively predictable here, and Sierra could very well have had a schedule for exactly what happened at what time ingrained in her memory. After all, circadian rhythms existed for a reason, and the spirit that presided over these mountains was privy to the ones which dictated life here. It was normally about this time during the morning that a native herd of woodland Penticorn passed by on a nearby trail, but today, they were noticeably absent. It was the lack of the familiar sound of hooves which stirred her from her languid lounging, blinking open warm amber eyes as she shifted slightly from her perched position. Something had disturbed the natural order of things, but not so dramatically as to cause a terribly large stir. Just enough to tilt things slight off of their norm.

Reaching out subconsciously through the channels which allowed her to communicate in a fashion with the mountains around her, she quickly found the source of the disturbance. That was also partially due to the proximity of its origin as well, and now that she had determined that it wasn't a major threat of any sort, Sierra settled back on her branch to wait for its somewhat meandering path to find its way to her. Her tail flicked lazily from where it hung beneath the bough, ears perked and alert for the approach of the newcomer.

She didn't have to wait for long before a figure appeared on the trail below. It was another Kuhna - that in itself wasn't terribly unusual up here in the mountains, but it was the manner in which she navigated the path that belie the fact that she wasn't exactly a native of this terrain. "Hi there!" Now, it wasn't all that usual for the spirit to reveal herself to strangers, or even inhabitants of her domain, but the stranger's intent seemed harmless enough, and Sierra currently had nothing but time on her hands. Plus, she couldn't remember the last time she'd actually spoken to anyone, so now was as good a time to brush up on her socialization skills as any. "Are you lost? Perhaps I can help you find what it is you're looking for?"

Arlür had nearly jumped at the sound of the other Kuhna's voice, but that was simply because it had taken her by surprise.  After a few moments, she considered the Kuhna's question.

"Hello," she replied in turn.  After a few moments more of considering the other Kuhna's question, she replied.  "I'm not lost, per se," Arlür said.  "I love exploring, you see.  It would hardly be exploring if I knew exactly where I was, or what I was looking for.  Although... that does have me curious.  I know I'm in the Tuun Mountains, but in the readings I did before coming here, I didn't see a whole lot about an area like... this," she said, turning and sweeping her paw around her, indicating their environs.

Sierra tilted her head curiously at the newcomer, bright amber eyes measuring her inquisitively. "Well, in truth, we really don't get many visitors here either, so depending on how you look at it, I'd say you're in luck." She spoke the truth, which was also the reason why she'd taken it upon herself to personally see whom it was that had wandered into her realm. "You're the first person to find this place in...well, years. So from that perspective, I'd say that you're doing a pretty good job of exploring, in my book."

Taking a brief moment to stretch languidly on the branch upon which she was perched, Sierra hopped down fluidly so that she stood level with the newcomer. After all, it was rude to address someone from somewhere where she'd have to crane her neck to see her. "Well, that's probably due a little in part to design," Sierra admitted to the other Kuhna's unspoken question. "You see, I'm sort of a...caretaker for this part of the mountains. I've done what I can to keep it hidden from the eyes of the rest of the outside world, but can you blame me when there are all these whispers of deforestation and pollution floating around?" She shrugged lightly, not entirely sure why she was justifying her actions to a stranger. Then again, it was nice having someone aside from songbirds to talk to every once in a while. "However, you don't seem to have any ill intentions, as far as I can tell, so you're more than welcome to explore away." Sierra grinned a toothy, but altogether friendly grin. "Heck, if you'd like some company, I'd be happy to give you a tour of sorts of the place. You get to know the place pretty well after a couple hundred years living in it, after all."
