((Be warned, all ye who enter here: This is a speed RP, just for training. I have a LOT of posts to make, and not a lot of time. This way lies eye ache!))

As far as Lohe was concerned, there could not be a worse possible situation. After a teleporter misshap, he was stuck who knews how far from home, in the middle of a DESERT, with no one around for company but Kaimana. Oh, Kaimana! As a Lavamancer, Lohe should be used to heat, but this stung. At least Kaimana was a hearty Rockbeak.

"Given my stealthy ways, I doubt they notice us missing," Kaimana said.

Oh, the Mistress! He was gone, and so far away, Lohe could not help her! What if she needed him? His belly churned worrying about her.

"Hmm. Given this heat, we will dehydrate fast," Kaimana said. "We should dig for water."

[Freezair]

"Kaimana, we've been here for all of five minutes, and we drank just before we got here," Lohe grumbled. "If you would please just be quiet for once, I am trying to think."

Kaimana looked afronted. Quietly, he turned away from the older Paragon and began scraping at the dirt with his front paws.

Lohe pondered. The way isolated minds tend to do, his wandered to the most unsightly possibilities. Just after he left: An attack by a dastardly Chernobyl! And he, too far gone to do anything! Lohe put his head down sadly. How would they get home?

"Negative on water here," Kaimana sighed. "You check your area too, Lohe."

Lohe sighed. "Kaimana, my 'area' is not ten feet from yours. Calm down for a second. I'm trying to think of how we can get out of here."

"Well, you know, underground aquafers can be quite tiny," Kaimana said defensively. "And besides all that--we have wings! We could fly out easily."

[Freezair]

"Do not fret, because I certainly have not forgotten," Lohe sighed. "But if we just take off, we would probably get more lost."

"We should follow the sun," Kaimana said.

[Freezair]

"Eh?" Lohe wondered.

"Yes. We use the sun to get our bearings and fly. South would be best, I think? We'll find land soon!"

"Hmm. Amazing. A sensible idea from you for once."

[Freezair]

"Alright, then," Kaimana said. "Let's go!" He took a running start, spread his wings, and was airborn in a whirl of sand.

Lohe followed, wincing at the grit in his feathers.

The two ascended, getting a better look at their surroundings. As they rose, they could see the distance through the heat shimmer. It looked like a village was not far off.

"We can get directions!" Lohe said.

"Hopefully," Kaimana agreed.

The wind began to pick up. It blew harshly against them. Some very fine sand was carried high, and scraped their skin. Kaimana growled at it.

Lohe put his head down. "Wind! Just our luck. This one will be hard to fight--!"

The sand buffeted the two Paragon. Grit piled up in their wings, and they began to sink.

"If only it had been a cooling breeze--!" Kaimana bit. He began to fall, his wings rumpling.

"Wait! Hold on!" Lohe shouted.

[Freezair]

Lohe spat a vibrant green flame beneath Kaimana. The air was already hot, but the sudden boost of even more heat buoyed Kaimana up.

"Let's sink slowly!" Lohe said.

Kaimana closed his eyes, and dipped down as gently as he could manage.

The two Paragon went back down to the sandy floor. There was still a breeze, but it wasn't as harsh. There were no crosswinds down here. Lohe and Kaimana breathed heavily.

"Now what?" Kaimana asked. "That didn't work."

"I still remember what direction it is," Lohe said. "Let's walk. It didn't look too far at all."

Kaimana groaned, but he set off. Lohe stuck out his neck, and, with his head held high, began to head off in the direction he remembered the village being in. Blowing sand obscured his vision, but he remembered the way.
