Heights and the Temporal Sisters, Puppetmaster and Ara

Heights, Puppetmaster, and Ara. There was no common variable connecting the three except their tournament team, Team Phantasma. Nothing could be said to hold to the Temporal sisters that would also hold to their reptilian counterpart. Because of this, the three made the oddest trio, and they looked even odder in their endeavors.

Heights, tough as he was, was busy trying to shave down his thick mane to beat the heat. He could have just switched to his electrical form, but there was no fun in that, nor was there any gain in muscle mass. The lady he wished to impress would surely prefer him to be sleek and strong. But he couldn't get any tougher if he overheated!

Ara and Puppetmaster, on the other hand, were bickering. Violently. Puppetmaster hated her phantom sister. Ara wasn't even supposed to exist, she'd never been born, after all, and Puppet had worked hard to make it that way! Why had Ara remained to mess with her plots and make her fail? So they were brawling - likely a pretty good way to train.

"Didn't we invite someone to train with us? Do you really want them to see you like that?"

"I personally don't care, Heights. It's good practice. For the tournament and for fighting with Sister."

"I'm actually going to have to agree with Puppet, here. It's good training."

(those are posts had compared to posts total...eff, I need around 10-15 posts a day to train in time for the tournament...if we can't pull that off, I'll do some massive self-roleplay, but my rule with those is at least 2 paragraphs per pet per post, so that would be like writing a book.)

Timber walked continuosly for a while, wondering why she even chose to leave the caverns anyway.  The heat above was unbearable, since she was used to the cool, underground chambers. "Ughh"  Sighing, she headed on, hoping to meet someone else here.  But of course, the chances of that happening were pretty darn slim.

"There's someone around...I can smell it."
"Must we go find them?"
"Of course!"
"You're an idiot."
"Wh-"
"Shut up," Heights hissed, tired of the whining. "I'll find this new kid. You two can stay here and squabble all you like." The Carpetfang had just finished cutting his beloved mane down, and was understandably unhappy about it. He sighed, hovering several feet off the hand to avoid abrasion of his belly, and set off to follow the scent on the wind. It didn't take him long to find the lucain.

"Hello."

Turning around, Timber spotted a Voltage Carpetfang heading towards her. "Greetings." she said quietly.  But with no sound out there, it wasn't as hard to hear.  "What brings you out here?  Or are you with others, since I can easily smell them from here."

"I'm Heights, miss, and my companions you smell are Werecain Puppetmaster and Lucain Ara; they're sisters and nemeses. Ah, we heard of a great tournament, miss, and we came here to train, for we are still unversed in the battling of this world. Or at least, that's why I'm training. I don't really know about by accomplices. It was a three-person deal and they needed another, which is why I'm with them.

A pattering of paws alerted Heights that his companions were returning, having had sorted out their differences. Though they were both a little scuffed up, it was clear the fighting hadn't been too bad, they hadn't fallen apart, after all.

"I am Puppetmaster, a Werecain - it's a bit more confusing than that, but Werecain's easy enough to remember - born to Glacia and Nightstrider."

"I am Ara, a Lucain, Puppetmaster is my sister though I've not parents myself."

Introductions over, the pair returned to their bickering.

"Trounament training, you say?  Sounds interesting enough.  Mind if I help?  I know that two friends of mine are going to do that, so I suppose that we might meet in battle there.  Would you like to train together for now though?  I'm sure if would be fun enough."  Smiling, TImber looked to the other two that had just arrived.  A Lucain was among them, sparking her interest.  "Welcome, Ara, is it?"

"Ara, I am! Puppet, is it okay if she trains with us? What do you think, Heights? I think it's a great plan!" The phantom laughed and grinned.

"How will this help us?"

"That's a mighty good question...then again, Wysteria said you should always help others, so of course we should train with her. Wysteria's always right."

"And training is easier in groups! Come on, Puppet, can't we please please please train with her?"

"Okay, okay. You can train with us."

"Thanks.  Well, let's get on with it then."  Smiling, she crouched down, getting ready to leap onto Ara.  She figured that a lot of Lucain would be entering, as well as Paragons, since they were the ideal fighters in the eyes of most, so training with the other girl would probably get her some practice in how to avoid wingblades and using her own.  Not to mention that there would probably be other ethreal pets to battle, so who better to practice with than a phantom.  Since Timber could sense that there wasn't actually life in the girl, she decided to wait for that to be explained in time to her, if they chose to.

Ara had to grin at Timber. The lucain was a ghost, and because of that she was pretty hard to leap at. Still...she concentrated a moment and brought herself farther into the physical realm, enough so that hitting her would be a challenge, though not impossible. She then dipped her head, pressing it flat against her stomach and defensively barricading her vitals with the sharp spines.

Puppetmaster had a wide, loopy smile, and was really quite hopeful that this Timber fellow would murder the unwanted sibling once and for all. Heights, on the other hand, had picked up a large rock, and tossed it to the Glacial Werecain, who caught it and tossed it back.

"Not at all a bad method of training!"

"Not at all, my high-voltage friend, not at all."

Grinning, she saw that Ara instinctively protected her vitals.  "Well thought out." she said, then lunged.  The first try she seemed to go straight through the girl.  Whirling around before she could take advantage of her miss, she tried for the wingblades, figuring those just might be solid.  Lunging once more, she got ahold of the faint blades, and held on, her teeth digging in, trying not to lose her grip.

Ara hissed in pain, but she was used to pain, and so she then grinned. Her new friend - she still didn't know the Lucain's name - had left herself vulnerable to a counter-attack. Such an attack as she planned would normally be chancy, but with the lucain so near, it wasn't nearly so much. Ara flipped back over onto her back, trapping the lucain beneath her spines. Naturally, it'd be easy to escape - Ara was still relatively ghostly - so she instantly made a bite at her fellow's leg. A leg injury would slow her down pretty badly, after all.

"Your plan had a flaw."

"Intriguing. This rock is a bit small..." Heights tossed the rock away and picked up a larger one to continue his training. He flung it at Puppetmaster, who caught it along her wingblades and shot it right back.

"So amusing...this really is of great interest to this one."

Timber had a grip on her, but that was for about two seconds.  "Dangit.  She's good..."  Before she could do anything, Ara had flipped her over and pinned her down, the spikes on her back blocking escape.  But once she had managed to slip out, she found a serious bite on her leg.  But luckily, she began to mumble a healers chant.  The cut closed up enough to stop the bleeding though, not to mention that her stone blood helped not to let her lose to much blood, so she was able to move a bit faster than she would have normally.  Going back for another try, she let out a cry, and lunged.

Ara hissed, narrowly avoiding the charge by slipping back into ghostform. "You're good at this fighting...all my practice has been with my dear sister, so I'm not too used to fighting Lucains. Sister may be a Werecain, but she fights like a human."

"Do not!"

"Ignore Ara, she's not listening."

Indeed, the Lucain was completely focused on the fight. "We're hoping to fight mostly Paragon, and no Felloxes. We don't like Felloxes because we don't. Also because Felloxes can hit me pretty easily, comparatively."

That would make sense, Timber thought to herself.  Deciding to try something different, she ran straight at Ara, but at the last split second, lept straight over her, but also took advantage and raked her heel windblades on her back.

Ara hissed as the attack struck home. It would take her a while to get used to phasing. It was hard, making sure that you were always only hittable at the right times. However, she did reach up to try to grab one of her Lucain foe's feet, planning to bite it as hard as possible.

"The girl's a good strategist, I'll give her that," Puppetmaster growled.

"Which one?"

"Both."
