"Oh no you don't!" mumbled Timber.  The minute Ara grabbed for her paws, she kicked out, aiming for the other Lucain's paws.  Coming down though, she noticed that the other girl had some trouble shifting in and out of her ghostly state, and into a form that could be hit, and therefor, could also hit.  If she were to use that to her own advantage, she could most likely overpower Ara.

Ara hissed and ghostformed to protect herself. She had a sudden, rather wicked idea. Still in ghostform, she charged right at Timber. She crouched and slid to a stop underneath her, moving just enough to put her ghostly wingblades straight through her foe's legs, and then quickly began to solidify herself.

"That's gonna hurt in the morning."

"No doubt, Puppet. No doubt at all."

Unaware of what Ara was trying to do until the last minute, Timber found herself trapped, and yowling in pain.  The other girl's wingblades were straight through her leg, and she began shaking and bucking like crazy until she caught Ara in her mouth.  Hanging on, Timber bit down even harder, hoping to force the girl to let go.

Ara ghostformed the minuted the teeth touched her throat. She couldn't heal easily at all, being what she was. She leaped back and landed a few feet in front of Timber.

"Want to take a break? That looks pretty bad...I'm sorry..."

"I think I'll have to try that one. Then again, sister'll phase out of it."

"Oh, go cry me a river. Why do you hate her so much?"

"It'll be ok.  But yeah, a break might be necessary for it to heal."  Smiling weakly, she dislodged the little chunks of blades that were still in her leg, and sat down.  "Well hey, no worries.  I'll be fine.  But you want to look around, see what's out here?  I'm pretty tired now anyway."

"I am too. I don't cope well with injuries...it's really hard for me to heal. Let me just ask Puppet. She's still stronger than I am. Hey, Puppet!"

"No."

"Come on...I won't mess around with Sket if you do."

Tempting. "By your honor as a phantom-of-wills? Very well. Let's go."

"How come no one asked me?" Heights grumbled.

"Great!  So let's see what we can do around here, since just walking would be pretty useless.  Wouldn't you agree?"  Getting up, she tried to wiggle her leg some, but it hurt to much.  Leaning on her others, Timber hoped that she would be able to carry on with the trip.

"Do you need a ride?" the massive carpetfang asked. "My Lady - err...the queen of the place I'm from - told us to always be polite to females."

"That's nice of you to offer, Heights! Maybe we can find a place for you to train that will help even considering the damage, Miss...?"

"As long as it has rocks to throw, I'm good."

Grinning at Puppetmaster's last comment, she found herself fall to the ground.  "If you can, then a ride might be necessary."  Frowning at her weakness and vulnerability, she finally consented to shifting into her human form.  "Worst. Haircut. Ever.  And by th way, if you don't know, I'm Timber."  With that, she hopped up on the big Carpet Fang.

"Mine is worse. It was horrible, having to shave my beautiful mane!" Heights wailed.

"Heights, you sure are a drama queen. And that's coming from me." Puppetmaster was grinning, but that was normal for her. "You don't even have a weird family to explain it. Not as weird as me and sis, anyhow."

"That's because we're really weird, not because he's normal."

"Hehe.  Sorry about your mane Heights.  It'll grow back though, won't it?"  Sighing, Timber relaxed a bit, and wondered what exactly she might find out here.  "So Ara, well...do you mind if I ask something?"

"What do you want to ask me? There are things I'm not comfortable talking about, but likely your question isn't part of that mess. Puppetmaster?" Ara asked her sibling. They had very tightly entwined histories.

"I don't really care anymore, Ar. I just can't wait until this tournament is over so I can go back to my normal schedule.

Heights remained silent. The Voltage Carpetfang knew this conversation didn't really involve him.

"Well, you see, I was wondering, about well, you being what seems like you're well, dead.  I have spirit sense, and well, you definitely don't seem to have much life in you...  Or well, you definitely have energy, it's just that..."  That last part was mumbled, since Timber didn't want to offend Ara, but she wanted to understand why she wasn't really picking up on anything from the other female Lucain.  Waiting for an answer, she looked around.  It seemed that the group had come quite a ways out in this barren place.

Ara glanced at Puppetmaster again, who simply nodded, rolling her eyes. Ara was the sort who really didn't want to offend, and, well, she and Puppetmaster shared a unique backstory.

"Me being a ghost is a pretty good guess. I wish it was that simple. But it's not, really. You see, Puppetmaster and I are adept at traveling through time to the past and future. Through this, Puppetmaster engineered her own birth, since the couple was rather unlikely. It involved stealing, smuggling, kidnapping, breaking, unfair deals, one instance of murder-. "

"More than that,"

"-more than one instance of murder, arson, and jaywalking. But anyways, being her younger sister, I had to go chase her around because after she saved us she started causing trouble. Being immature as we were back then, we treated it all as a game, her callously throwing lives away and me protecting them. Sister thought I was too much trouble, and killed one of our parents before I was conceived, but after she was."

Heights blinked. "Sounds painful. Wouldn't that just make you cease to exist?"

"I willed myself to continue on, but because I was never born, I never took physical form. So, phantom-of-wills."

The news was a shock to Timber.  It made sense, but at the same time, it didn't.  "So...Puppet, you pretty much well, killed her?"  She didn't understand how that could have happened though, or why they would do that.  But of course, siblings were weird like that.
