With temperatures rising over 143°C (289.40°F) in most areas, the only relief is during the nights when it is much cooler. All travelers are advised to keep to the local towns on the desert's outskirts and avoid traveling too far from civilization. (+3 Endurance, +2 Defense)

Return to Wilt'no Desert

Requiem to the Fallen [anthro or human form]

Postby ferretbeasty » 11/20/2007 6:24 PM

Twilight fell over the barren desert, the shadows of the dunes almost lost in the incresing darkness.  The thing about the desert though, it was never truly dark.  It was too open, the sky too clear.  It shone near bright as day night inclinged eyes undr the shower of stars and even the sliver of a moon that was slowly creeping above the horizon.  The three figures silhouetted on the top of a dune were not watching the moon, but rather, the last lingering fingers of sunlight that stretched out over twilight, the day scrambling to try and keep it's grip while the lady night ever so gently, ever so relentlessly pried it's grip away, pressing those thin streamers of light down below the edge of the desert from where the trio stood.

Or rather, only one of them stood.  A cursed Aries, though in human form, watched the death throes of the sun with silvers eyes closed to mere slits in the ghostly paleness of his face.  An arid breeze kicked up, already cool from night's gentle, fever breaking fingers, and whipped his black robes back, revealing a long triangle of porcelein white chest.  Russet hair was braided into a multitude of fine braids, the white starbursts loosing their patterns from the seperation.  Braided cords of hair fell around heavy ram's horns, silver bells braided into them chiming softly.

At his feet crouched two graffiti albie, also in human form.  Neither were taller than about fice foot, lean and wiry muscled.  Their horns somewhat resembled his, though much smaller, nestled in their multi colored hair.  Twin pairs of impossible pale lavender eyes watched him calmly, no human intelligence there, only the same calm, waiting patience of highly trained dogs.  Finally, as night settled it's grip on the desert and the sands gave up the heat they'd hoarded during the day, the Aries made a sharp gesture with his hand.

"Come."  Lucifel began to walk, and the albies followed at his heels, flanking him.  They seemed to have a destination in mind, every stride purposeful, and yet for all the eye to see there was no where in sight to be a landmark.

[[I sure hope that you don't mind my joining. And I'm warning you now, I went a bit crazy with the length of this post. XD ]]

Slowly, ever so slowly was he permitted to go out. Walking alone was something that he was not given the freedom of doing, never. He'd lived within a cage, in technical terms. A 'bedroom' wasn't very comforting when you had a steel door with various locks to contain you within. He would have broken through the walls, if only they hadn't been reinforced as well. The only times that he was set free was when he acted as the security system; being one of the most dangerous of those in which he resided with at the manor. If he was lucky, he was taken out every so often under the super vision of the 'mistress' of the home. He'd tried to kill her many times, though still found some use for her...

If one asked who he  was, many wouldn't have a clue. He was hidden, mostly, but he was free now. That little 'mistress' of his got caught up in other pressing matters, and they couldn't deny his right to step out since she had been gone so long. There was only one catch, but that was beside the point. He'd come back here, one of his most favored locations.

The serpent, specifically an Obsidian Slydra, had choose to appear as much as a human as he could on this particular desert visit. He'd been walking for quite some time, so long that he'd lost track. Time meant little to him. As the day began to vanish from this place, the night forcefully banishing it away for the next sum of hours, he'd taken to relaxation to enjoy the strangely changing view. The world was interesting in this way, as light turned to dark, but also so very predictable. Unnatural for a human, he stood at least a good seven feet tall, his height easily seen now that he was sprawled across the sandy floor that made up the desert. This was excluding the long black horns which protruded from nearly the top of his head, extending out to be, almost, perfectly vertical. His long hair, at least down to his shoulder blades, was sprawled around him, a few tiny braids entwined his hair, scattered without any particular pattern. His clothes were simple ones, black semi-dress pants and an off white long sleeved shirt with a somewhat tattered black vest that was wired closed in the front with some form of thick string.

"We shouldn't be out here for so long." A voice shot at him through his own thoughts, a mental speaker who was his 'baby sitter' this time 'round. The Morloth had disregarded his 'human' form, since he preferred his form just as he was- a bat-like creature that was about a foot tall. He may not have appeared human, but that didn't change the fact of his mentality or his actions. He was very much human in all matters other then his direct physical looks, and the fact that he was mute. He was mute no matter his form. Yet that never stopped him. He had been one to pursue the ability to communicate like a psychic, able to project his words into the mind of any other living being.

Sen, Senvipore being his full name, just shot a small glare at the Morloth that had landed a few feet from his head with his slit eyes, his fork tongue flicking once before he returned to gazing up at the sky.

[Don't mind at all. ^.^]

Lucifel was no the first to notice that the desert was alive with something other then himself and his servants.  They were walking between the dunes, on the relatively solid ground so they didn't sink into the loose sand.  The only noise they made was the soft chime of the bells in Lucifel's hair, and the snap of his robes as they billowed behind him.  The tracks they left were odd, and whisked away quickly by the wind that was a near constant in the desert nights.  It wasn't a hard wind, but something more akin to a breeze.  It swept sand over the prints of Lucifel's bare feet, and over the prints of the two albies' shoes.  Breaking the easy silence between them, Nihilum gave a low sound halfway between a bark and a growl.  It was an odd sound coming from the incrediblly human like albie, but none of the trio found it at all unusual.  Lucifel paused, looking down with a midly annoyed expression until Nihilum ducked his head contritely, shifting nervously in place.

Shaking his head, the Aries indicated they were to continue foreward.  Their stroll went on uninteruppted until they edged around the bottom of a dune and came across the beast that Nihilum had scented earlier.  The twins stepped slightly foreward, putting Lucifel just a step behind them until his hands found their shoulders, and they shrank back, retreating again to flank him, though movement had paused for the moment.  Lucifel considered the Slydra and the Morloth, hands wrapping his robes loosely around him an a habitual motion, the fabric gaping and sliding off one shoulders.  He didn't bother to fix it, absorbed in simply observing the strangers they had stumbled across.  Lucifel honestly ignored the chaperone, focusing on Sen.

Caminus gave a low growl, silenced quickly by a curt gesture from his master.  Lucifel didn't move any closer to the serpent, brushing his braids back to the chime of bells.  "So the desert does hold more life than it seems."

The Slydra hardly payed any attention to those who began to appear. Let us just say that he wasn't that type of guy to care. He'd come to this desert many a times, finding this particular place as much as home, if not more, then where he was usually kept now a days. This was like his territory, so to speak. He wasn't greedy over it, however. He cared very little who came and went, not giving them the time of day, or not, in this case.
He was aware that they were coming before they even took to showing themselves, coming around the bend. It was a combination of his senses that told him, not just one. But it was impossible to miss them, either way.

Vincent was the first to honestly appear to acknowledge them. His odd eyes narrowed, eyes moving between the Aries and the two Albies. From the looks of things, he was far more respectable then the Albies that trailed behind the one, the one who stood and clearly acted like a leader of the group. It was sickening. And, too them, they probably saw him as the serpent's pet. Please.
"Greetings." He sent the words to boom into everyone's heads, going to Sen just so that he would know what was being spoken. He wasn't appearing friendly, but no hostile either. Just there.

It was then that Senvipore payed any attention to them, his slit eyes drifting from the sky to look over the trio boredly. His tongue flicked a few times, a natural habit. Eventually, he sat up, not bothering to shake off any sand that may have come to cling to him. His air was a dangerous one, but he didn't exactly appear hostile like this, just one that shouldn't be approached. His eyes quickly moved from each of the two squatting down and finally rested on that who was standing.

"So it seems." He said simply, after a long pull of silence. He hardly saw any use for speaking.

[For the sake that I need fives posts so that I can have other characters join other roleplays, I'll be posting three rather pointless and lame-ish posts.. But not enough to leave you behind. Fear the lame-ness.]

Well, it seemed like sitting up was pointless. Sen already wanted to take to laying back down. For once, he was rather peaceful. Everyone needed such a thing once in awhile. He yawned, the poison injecting fangs being shown off. Still not hostile toward the three others, but not one to be approached very lightly. 'I'm loosing interest in these people already.' He thought to himself. The trick to this was, so long as he thought, Vincent could hear if he was paying attention. Throughout this time, the Morloth was constantly monitoring the mind of the Slydra. He wasn't about to take any risks here. So he heard, though didn't take to making any form of reply.

Vincent's wings shifted before settling into place at his sides. When not flying, his wings were more like hands in use. That was true, since he even had strange hand-like appendages there. Silence had fallen over the two yet again, even in mind.
'Then we shall take our leave.' The 'babysitter' finally took to suggesting.
The man's forked tongue flicked once more, having received the message mentally, before his eyes shifted across the three other human formed creatures. He still deemed it an odd combination. Why have human forms when you acted like animals still. Apparently, Vincent acted more human then the two at Lucifel's feet.

In reality, the idea didn't seem too bad. They both had come to get away from everyone else, or that was the serpent's intention. He was forced to take company, but said company spoke so little that it didn't seem much different from being all alone. He never heard Vincent's voice verbally either. That was something pleasurable.
He stood up, thinking his mental agreement so that his partner would know. He ran his fingers through her long hair, weeding out the sand that cling to it. It was fairly easy for someone like him to ignore the fact that he was standing right in front of strangers. Without a word to him, he turned the direction opposite and started walking again. They'd find a good place in the desert. It felt too much like home to leave yet.

As for the animalistic one, he spread his wings quickly. He flew above Sen, until he decided to settle onto the shoulder of the serpent. Many wouldn't dare be so close to him, but he knew well enough that Sen wouldn't kill him. Vincent still had some sort of purpose to him. He never killed that who he had a purpose for.
