Kuroi
[ 1 || 1 ]
Darkness engulfed the mind, leaving no trace of thought, of color, of life. The darkness choked out all sound. It strangled any light that dare try to venture in, keeping it hidden within its powerful grip. There was nothing. It was as if this place was devoid of all life, of all sound, of all colors. And, it went on like this for what seemed to be ages. However, as time wore on, a faint sound began to make its way through the strangling darkness. It was a thumping sound, like that of a steady beating drum. It was continuous, as if persistent beyond all measure. It seemed to be drawing closer, as it grew louder and louder, until finally, the sound had become a throbbing boom within the darkness.
The darkness that had so long held the mass of fur appeared to be letting go of its hold, and in its wake came a deafening throbbing sound. The furry mass groaned at the pain of the sound, begging within himself for it to stop. But as the darkness of unconsciousness let go, his thoughts became clearer, and he was glad his begging had not been answered. The thumping sound he was hearing was his own heart; he was alive. Hurting from a massive headache, but none-the-less alive. But... why did he have such a headache..? What had happened..? And, where was he..?
Hollow eyes dared to force themselves open. "Ah!" An incredibly bright and nearly unbearable light ripped through his dark eyes, and he yelped in pain, instinctively shutting his eyes tightly. After a moment, he slowly began to open his eyes once more, allowing the light to filter in more slowly this time, until his eyes were able to open fully finally. For a moment, everything was blurry and seemed to sway and move. His eyes wavered and slugglishly looked around, waiting for the scenery to quit spinning. His paw gripped the warm earth beneath him. "It feels like sand..." As his vision cleared, he realized his judgement had been correct. Sand.
Lifting his head slowly, he felt as though his head was weighted with rocks. He groaned. Nothing was making much sense. Trying to keep his thoughts straight, Kuroi blinked once more to refocus his vision and looked around him in disbelief. All around him, in every direction, there was nothing but sand, cacti, prickly shrubs, and other desert life scattered about. No water, just sand. Miles and miles of sand. Kuroi let out a choked breath, shaking his head slightly as if to wake himself up from this dream, but it was no dream. He was in the middle of a desert. Alone.
The only thing is... "How did I get here..?"
