“after a while Scar started opening up and she started talking about how worried she was about you, since it seems you have been having nightmares that you wake up screaming from.” The girl concluded. Scarlet looked very embarrassed and pissed off. “I’m getting breakfast.” She growled leaving the room and slamming the door behind her. “She really loves you.” Kat said softly to Vella before turning to follow Scarlet.

[Sarah]

-She… loves me?- Vella felt her face flush, and words seemed to have escaped her. No one had ever loved her before. Now her defensiveness made sense, and her tolerance for what Vella did and believed. How would she take it when she found out Vella didn’t love her that way? It would not end well, Scarlet wasn’t the understanding type.

[Sarah]

Vella would have to keep this to herself, and only speak about it if it was ever brought up. Now she would have to be even more careful about what she said. It would be like walking on broken glass and trying not to get stabbed. Pure demons where not known for their ability to control their emotions, and for the most part they couldn’t even feel the emotion. They shouldn’t feel emotions, but unfortunately with the promiscuity of demons there was hardly such thing as a pure demon now days.

[Sarah]

Vella walked slowly towards the kitchen, still battling with herself. She couldn’t love this demon, not that way. not in any way… still it was hard, no one had loved her before, sure she had been angel she was supposed to be loved by all, but it was much different now than it was before. With the mixed blood no one knew who to trust. That was one of the reasons corruption was spreading within the angels and gods.

[Sarah]

Vella knew better than to love anything other than the gods. As an angel it was sin idolize others. It was hard to follow the rule now because the reason behind only loving the gods was because they could do no wrong. But not with all of the corruption. Plus the rules where a slight bit different, though not much. Vella still could not love a demon but she could interact with them.

[Sarah]

She saw the two girls where getting along and eating breakfast. She sat down with them, “what are you having?” she asked, she had told E to go float around the garden so she was not able to see at the moment. “I’m having Cereal and Kat is having some eggs with bacon.” Scarlet’s voice came out of the darkness. “What’s wrong, she seemed ok before.” Vella heard Kat ask. “I’m blind, and I can’t seem to find E anywhere.” Vella explained, lying a little bit, she knew exactly where E was, but she didn’t want to give away his position.

[Sarah]

“Well, it was nice catching up Kat, but we really must be on our way.” Scarlet said after a while. Vella had heard the chewing stop, so she assumed that meant Scarlet was done eating for now. “Oh no, don’t think you can get away from me that easily. I’ve been sent to come with you.” Kat said and Vella felt really out of the loop. It wasn’t like either girl would be showing much emotion, but the emotion they did show would be strong enough for Vella to be able to figure it out herself. “Wait, what is going on?” she asked after an awkward silence.

[Sarah]

“Kat is talking some nonsense about her coming with us.” Scarlet sounded in an even worse mood than before. This girl was really setting her on edge. Vella wondered why. They didn’t seem to argue when she wasn’t around. So maybe the fact that Kat knew that Scarlet loved Vella was just too much for the demon to take.

[Sarah]

“Yes, master asked me to go with you. She said that where you would be going there would be some pretty expensive items.” Vella had her jaw hanging open in shock, and she could feel that scarlet was just as shocked as she was. “So… wait what?” Scarlet asked shaking her head wondering if all of this was just a weird dream.

[Sarah]

“You heard me, besides you’ll need me, no one else will be able to sneak into an age old temple.” Kat added and Vella could imagine that she was looking rather smug. “Well I have no objections; if master wills it then it shall be done.” Vella said somehow knowing that while Scarlet would not agree with the decision she would put up with it. Scarlet narrowed her eyes. “Very well.” Scarlet growled, sending small chills up Vella’s spine, she could tell that the demon was not pleased.

[Sarah]

“It seems that it would be time to go them, let’s find out host and bid her farewell and be off.” Vella said getting up from the table. “Let me lead.” Scarlet cut in, guiding Vella down the opposite hallway. –oops, guess I don’t do as well when E is showing me the garden and not what’s in front of my nose.- Vella thought cheekily.

[Sarah]

A door creaked open and they met Mus still working on organizing her books. “Well, I guess you are here to say goodbye?” she asked, not seeming surprised by their new demon friend. “Good luck, and safe travels.” Mus said not really knowing if there was anything more to say. “To you too, and thank you for your help.” Vella said in return. “I’ll let them know you are ready to leave and they will let you out.” Mus said as they left the room and quietly exited the small home. E was at her side almost instantly and Vella was relieved that she had her sight back to normal.

“This way.” it was the same girl who met them at the beginning. Vella felt bad that she couldn’t remember the girl’s name. They walked back the exact path hey came on and Vella was not shocked to see that nothing had changed. Somehow she had felt it would, this whole place was changing even if it was only a little. “Please don’t come back.” The girl added as they were walking out the barrier. “Nice folk.” Kat said sarcastically as the Barrier closed up again. They were exposed to the hot sun and endless sand once again. Sighing and feeling like they came out with more questions than they had originally the girls set off towards the mountains. Though it was hard to pinpoint the exact location of the mountains so who knows? Maybe they went the wrong way.
