[Sarah]

 

- Part 2 -

Scarlet and Vella watched the terrain change from a winter locked forest to a scorching hot sandy wasteland. Neither of them where very excited about the desert, but they had no other way to get the information they needed “you think it’ll take long to find them?” Vella asked, her white eyes scanning the orange land below. No green oases were visible yet, not even smell brush dotted the ground. It was really an empty world, they would be lucky to even find their way back out of the desert.

[Sarah]

Luckily they were not mortal so they couldn’t die from heat exhaustion or anything. They felt perfectly fine the heat had hardly any effect on them, other than the weird heat waves they caused in the distance. They had decided that while being in spirit from could attract unwanted attention it was a far more efficient way to travel. It took them only a few hours to get from Medicai to the desert and now it was only a matter of looking before they would have made it to their destination. When it was all over they wouldn’t even have a place to stay. With that Capitan guy on their tail as they knew he would be, time was of the essence.

[Sarah]

They had flown through the night and where just making it to the deeper part of the desert to find that the sun was rising. “Lucky we don’t need to sleep as often as mortals huh.” Scarlet commented breaking vella from her thoughts. “I suppose so.” She said quietly, she was still shaken from the whole encounter and Scarlet could feel that it was all coming into focus at the moment. “Are you sure you’re ok?” Scarlet asked a flash of concern in her eyes. Vella looked at the demon and nodded. “For now.”

[Sarah]

It irked scarlet that such an evil angel could still be welcomed into heaven. She had met him once before, when word of Vella’s falling had just started spreading. It was not chance that they had bumped into each other, it had all been planned. Not by Scarlet she had no clue what his motive was, but that man had everything planned out very well. A flicker of rage began to build within both girls. They had been wronged somehow, and they couldn’t doubt that others had been as well.

[Sarah]

“This could take all day.” Vella complained having E move yet again to help her look around. “Not if we are in the air, we should be fine so long as we continue to be able to have this view.” Scarlet tried to comfort, Vella had been getting less and less hopeful and had gotten more and more grouchy. Both girls were on edge, Scarlet was getting fed up with Vella’s constant pessimistic talking. Vella was shaken quite badly about their encounter on the boat.

[Sarah]

The girls needed to find this place if they wanted to keep their sanity. They had seen nothing besides sand not even a lone bush or an animal of any kind. Even on the border they hadn’t seen any sort of village or tents. It was hard not to have anyone that knew where they were going. Even a simple point in a random direction would have put their minds at ease, even if only a little.

[Sarah]

Now for any mortal it would be a death wish to travel inside of this desert and expect to live. For most it was a place of hell on earth. Having been in hell Scarlet could say that hell was much worse for a mortal. She could see how a mortal would make the connection however. For an immortal such as the two girls the only annoying thing about the desert was that it was big and it all looked the same. Along with that they had yet to see any sort of life dead or alive.

[Sarah]

The sun was high in the sky when they finally began to see the oasis that would hold the information they needed. It was a small green stain on the horizon. It took Scarlet a long time to even separate it from one of the heat wave thingies that the heat gave off. Vella had even more trouble, it seemed like E was not very good at producing a vivid picture to the blind angel. What had tipped both of them off in the end was the strong magical barrier that surrounded the place.

[Sarah]

A little over an hour later and the girls were hovering above the barrier. “If we try to go at it it’ll drain our energy so bad we won’t be able to stay on the mortal plane.” Vella warned swooping down just a little closer to check again the magical energies that it was giving off. “I know who made this too, a very powerful war mage. She went a-wall during the last war.” Vella said, disappointment light on her voice. “She wasn’t even a soldier for the most part.” She added quietly. Scarlet rolled her eyes angels where so weird about war, “so she hid out in the middle of a desert, clever.”

[Sarah]

Vella shot a glare at the demon, she had been a soldier once, and had fought in many battles. She didn’t feel that it was right to just give up on her brothers and sisters that risked so much for her. She shook of the thought. “We should probably be on the ground and also be in lucain form.” Vella said pulling her wings in so that she could descend quickly. Scarlet followed her; she was interested to see how they would be greeted. Especially with their odd pairing, an angel and a demon.

[Sarah]

Landing Scarlet and Vella changed forms, hoping they would be accepted. If they didn’t get the information out of this shaman they would be in a lot of trouble. Not only that but if they were unable to find out any information it would be harder for them to escape if they were ever captured again. “Uhm… Hello?” Vella called out, with the magical barrier up they couldn’t see inside. Any mortal that was lucky enough to make it this far into the desert wouldn’t even see it, it would just look like another part of the sand. If a mortal happened to run into the barrier they would either by incinerated or just teleported back to the fringes of the desert. It was quiet elaborate, though highly ineffective for deterring immortal beings, other than it would drain their powers. They stood at the edge of the barrier, just staring at it hoping someone would let them in eventually. “HELLO?!” Scarlet yelled at the top of her lungs.

[Sarah]

A small archway opened up, just big enough for them to get through. It was about ten feet of barrier that they had to carefully walk through before they were exposed to a lush green forest. “wow.” Vella said both girls where a little speechless. In other parts of the world it was rare that they got to see something this beautiful. “I was coming; all you had to do was have a little patience.” A small brightly colored nagi flew towards them. “I’m jade by the way.” the nagi said changing forms mid-sentence.

[Sarah]

Now a little girl was standing in front of them. A white sundress hung from her body graciously. And spiked purple and green hair fluttered in the wind. A wind that seemed to be coming from nowhere. It was a soft cool wind that was rather nice and comforting. Scarlet knew they would have to be careful not to get intoxicated by this place. However it was such a breathtakingly perfect place it was tempting to just stay in the magical forest forever. “You know there is more to this place than the forest.” The girl chimed in, breaking the spell both girls had been strung under.

[Sarah]

Walking out of the forest they were presented with a small natural spring, water was coming out of a rock formation, cascading down into a pool. The waterfall made the most delicious noise and Vella placed a tentative paw in the water to find that it was the same temperature as a warm bath. “Moving on.” The girl said leading them both past the water. “This place is dangerous.” Scarlet warned Vella quietly. Vella nodded, she could feel something here that made her want to stay. It didn’t seem to effect the girl, and Vella couldn’t quiet catch what it was even when it felt so close in her reach.

[Sarah]

The scenery changed now, it felt like they had entered a farm, crops and herbs where growing in neat rows and a small house was standing a little ways off. A dirt path took them to the house and Vella wished she could explore down the paths that forked off from the one they were walking on. “Here we are.” The girl said pushing the door open. It creaked a little bit and Vella could see that the inside of the house was unlit, the only light that came in filtered through the small windows and the open door of course.
