Her thumb slid slowly over the small sheet of paper held in her had as she scanned the list. Milk, bread, butter, jam; a simple list and yet there was something important she had missed when writing it. Whatever it was that needed to be added it had slipped her mind, an easy thing to do when making a list of things you mostly bought to keep up appearances.
As a seraphim food was just not a requirement for her to continue living. All Safi needed was a pen, paper and something to record and she would feel quite full and complete. Yet here she was, a list in one hand and a pen in the other and a furrow to her brow.
“Tea!” She gasped, leaning over the small table in her equally small kitchen to press the paper against the hard, smooth surface to write. Sun darkened hands went about the job of jotting down the note, her blue scarf threatening to slide off her shoulders.
Jotting down her top three flavours (she actually really enjoyed tea, especially after her... ordeal) she headed to the door of her small desert home just as there came a knock at her door.
Fear gripped her heart for half a beat before the low ranking seraphim relaxed, smoothing down her robe as she placed her usual, serene, exterior and spoke as she walked to the door.
“Just a moment!”
She slipped into sandals (which fit perfectly around the tan lines on her feet) and opened the door, already speaking to those on the other side.
“I was just on my way out to pi- Oh!”
