Ester was surprised and relieved to find out she wasn’t the only one to be newly out of the vaults. She didn’t want to be the only one ignorant to the workings of Evelon, but she could guess that she knew the least about humans out of the bunch though it was hard to say. The seraphim were hard for ester to read. She didn’t have a clue what they must be feeling. When they had spoken though they all sounded sort of reserved and from their postures ester figured they were all fairly untrusting of each other or at least a little shy around others.

A shudder passed through Ester at the news of souls being stolen, allegedly at least. There could be a plethora of reasons behind the missing souls but the one that first came to her mind was that they had been stolen. Perturbed by this she could understand completely why the gods would want them to find out what was going on. When it was suggested that the humans might have just never had souls ester was confused, “Is there a way for humans to give their souls away?” she asked, knowing it was probably a dumb question but she was not well versed in human souls and was unsure if it was even possible for one to have their soul taken away.

(( Hey guys so there's two more people who want in on this RP, so one for sure will join us tomorrow and the other will join us tomorrow OR she'll come in way later. We're undecided there. But anyway, if we can slow things down just a touch until everyone is here. owo; Or at least not try to progress the story too too much. Also I encourage people not being wall flowers. X'D ))

Safi frowned thoughtfully, "There are ways for humans to bond their souls to... to just about anything." Safi frowned, "though most are not privy to such magic. They can also sell their souls and there have been Chaos capable of doing this, though they too are quite rare." Safi tried her best to look at everyone as she spoke, but they were like magnets, all of the same polarity as they moved to the furthest corner of her combination living room and kitchen.
"What is strange about these caswes is that all of the deaths are quite different and arguably 'normal', yet they are all without a soul. Were it some sort of chaos, I would think their deaths would resemble one another.." Safi shook her head, "But it might be better not to discuss this too much now. Not everyone is present and I'd rather not repeat myself if it can be avoided."

Sand stirred when Dystriand landed. It didn't blow away from the man's scythe-like wings, or gust out from under powerful beats; instead, it eddied toward his descending form. It collected beneath his shadow like water. By the time gold-clad heels touched the ground, they crushed the tiny spires of the desert that heralded his arrival. The man, as always, paid no notice - his eyes were focused on the mud hut he had traveled so far to reach. His destination was much too close for him to care about anything else.

He paused before the hut, listening faintly to the voices inside. He certainly couldn't detect anything amiss - but it never hurt to check. The head that leaned across the threshold was curious, its brown skin an unusual offset to black-lined, vibrant eyes. The expression framed by straight grey locks was wary, borderline stern, as he scanned the hut's occupants. Settling on the leader of this mission, and the one who'd called them here, the man's expression brightened a bit. "Safi," he offered, voice surprisingly gentle for someone with such an intense visage. "I'm sorry to report late. My name is Dystriand. If you will have me, Zu'hai's forces extend you assistance." Atop the head, the blade of a seraphic weapon could just be seen slanted on his back: some sort of long, wedge-shaped implement as gold and pointed as his gaze.

(( Okay so that's one of the people we're waiting for, we can pick this up a bit. We're waiting on Toxic Shadow and maybe Elli. owo;; But technically our seraphim aren't moving out until the evening...? Unless we want to question the populace, but I feel like Safi can discuss more what she knows personally and any leads she might have once everyone's arrived.

tl;dr: I want to RP interactions and if it's really dying I'll pick it up and get us moving regardless of slowpokes. ))

The more she spoke on the subject the more nervous she felt. This really wasn't as small as she had thought. Souls were not an easily taken commodity, in fact you couldn't true take a soul without it being given willingly. You could break it, destroy it, twist it into someth unrecognisable, but you could never take it.

To see no willing giving up of a soul, no obvious signs of a deal born, no connection but the utter lack of a soul, it was easily one of the most disturbing things.

So engrossed in these thoughts she did not hear the other's approach and looked up only at the sound of her name.
"Whu-" She offered a smile in kind, unable to stop her lips from curling at such a friendly, confident face (though his garb was quite intimidating).

"Dystriand." She said the name with care, the feeling of the room having changed with his arrival. There was a confidence and power that came with every one of Zu'hai's best trained angels. Safi was glad that this Dystriand was kind on top of that.
"Welcome, I am glad you could join us, any seraphim is welcome under my roof, and any help that can be offered is well appreciated."

Being polite came quickly when faced with a (perceived) superior. Why on Evelon was she the leader for this mission? Well she wouldn't question it.
"We are almost all assembled now," Safi confirmed, "and well we do not have a timeline to arrive, just that we begin today and finish as soon as we are able." Safi said, accepting the apology by making it a non-issue, "would you like tea? I have biscuits as well."

The blue-haired seraph had been so lost in her thoughts as she drank her tea that, honestly, the arrival of another seraph surprised her.  Of course, she was also pondering the details that Safi had imparted about their mission, which had gotten her attention.  She hadn't done too much studying about souls and what happened to them, specifically, when their time on Evelon was done, but it did sound peculiar.

"So... if my understanding is correct," she said to Safi, allowing her cloak to fall away some (although it remained fastened at her neck).  "There... is no sign of any soul from these deaths, and the deaths themselves appear to be otherwise commonplace?" she asked.  She tried to think of anything that she had studied about that sounded similar, but there were not many things that immediately came to mind.
Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

Safi turned to the other seraphim under Yepha and nodded, her expression a little grim, "Yes, exactly. At least two were murders for sure, and I believe both have suspects." Safi read the news and had no doubt that they were anymore suspicious than that. She had not tracked any Chaos in the area and had no real sense or reason to suspect they were strange outside of the soul thing.

"The rest, and there are quite a few, are natural causes. Sickness in the old, sickness in those that did not care for themselves, accidental deaths and at least one suicide. Then 2 who became lost in the desert during a sandstorm... But there are many and none seem to have any connection to chaos or any sort of magic to explain why they are without souls." Safi looked to Thaxson, "you may have heard some things about there being no souls to retrieve. Yepha learned of it first through Xai're, since this is his domain." How an angel under Yepha had been given a leadership role Safi still did not know. She wouldn't question it, but it did seem odd. Especially since it was not her expertise.
