Reflection (Private- Self and Slynne)

Postby D3thNote » 06/11/2014 3:07 AM

It was hot. Too hot. I don't even know what day it is anymore. I can barely keep track of the time. Thank god it cools down at night, otherwise I'd be dead by now. And the food is much to be desired. There seems to be little but small rodents and reptiles. The only source of water comes from the blood of an animal I kill. But I use most of the energy I gain from that water to catch that prey. Hell, at least I have the moon.

I looked down onto the partially eaten reptile. Some of the blood spilled out onto the cooled sand. The full moons light glimmered on it almost turning it into a dark tinted mirror. I glared into the blood pool as a reflection puddled up within it. Finally the blood stilled.

'My gosh, is that what I look like? I haven't seem myself in years...
Is that truly my Reflection staring back at me?'

Koray

Koray found herself alone in the desert. Not that she expected to find anything or anyone special in the desert, but a little bit of hope was still intact. Was it pathetic to hope to find someone else lingering in the desert? Unsure of what she should do, she questioned why she even decided to take a journey through the desert in the first place. Luckily, she wasn't hungry or thirsty yet, that's the worst thing that could happen. Then she thought, well its the worse thing next to a snake bite. With or without a snake bite, she had to find some place to soothe the pain. Just then she saw something just up ahead, damn it, oh well it would have to do. There was a broken down wagon, which looked like it was mugged. It was practically destroyed, the one who left it must of had to walk to where they were going. Oh well, it will have to do. She had to rest and she damn well didn't want to be resting under the sun. Crawling under the broken wagon, she decided to rest. Hoping that vultures or reptiles would attack her in her sleep.

"Get back here you bastard!!!" I yelled at the snake who was just too fast for my exhausted body to catch. 'Damn, can't go another day without eating...' I thought as my legs dragged to a stop. When I finally thought all hope was lost... "KEE!" The call of a vulture! Maybe I could finally get a decent meal! I raced up with all the energy I had and tried to sneak over to it in stealth.

I was close now. Just needed to get a bit closer...
The bird was perched on an old broken up waggon. I snuck ever closer to my prey, pausing at each moment it hesitated. It seemed almost too perfect. 'NOW!' I thought as I jumped at the bird. Knocking over most of the waggon with me, I managed to latch onto one of its wings. 'Got ya!' The thought poured into my mind as he bird struggled to release my grip by continuously pecking at my muzzle. Finally the bird gave up the fight as I of my paws over its body, just enough for me to let go and snap back shut on its jugular.
"Dinner at last!" I cried out in joy.

Waking up to a loud sound, I protectively jumped backwards and automatically into a pounce position. Hissing frantically at the blurry image of another creature. I am too tired and in pain for this I thought to myself. The jump backwards reminded me of the snake bite. So much for my rest, but I realized the night sky, damn it I must have been out for awhile. I shook my head just see a lucain clearly... What the hell... I hissed backing away even further, but still standing my ground. Don't think you can eat me I thought.

I gnawed mindlessly on the bird bones. It just tasted sooo good!! It took a couple minutes after licking my paws clean to notice another creatures gaze staring at me. 'More dinner?' I thought first...
"Who are you?"
I questioned instead. Logic winning rather than the hunger. It was a long while since I encountered another large being.

Still hissing at the creature, I had to calm myself. Still in pouncing position, I slightly eased myself. I sat down, making sure not to put pressure on the leg with the snake bite. I whinned, to tired and in pain to cause a fight I answered gently but in pain. "Koray." Saying just that and nothing more, looking at the creature, expecting a name from them in return.

The creature responded to me hesitantly. Who ever Koray was it looked like she hasn't been here that long. Which means that she knows a way out of this blasted hell. "You have a snake bite?" I questioned rhetorically. "If you want it cleaned up and the venom gone, than follow me." I figure that I need to make nice with this critter if I want any chance of getting help.

Still curious at who this creature was, obviously a Lucain but what was his name and what was he doing here? He looked as if hes been stuck here for a while. Surprised at the little kindness he was showing at my wound, I wondered if I should even follow him. Can I trust this complete stranger? It was a chance I would have to* risk, if he doesn't kill me then this snake bite would. I am surprised that it hadn't already killed me, you would think it would have traveled through my body already, then again, maybe it was a minor poison snake bite? Hesitantly I followed him, but I kept my guard up, never know who you can trust. Especially when you first meet the person. "Whats your name?" I asked again.

"It's just up a bit farther." I mentioned, avoiding the question at hand. I picked up my pace a little, just enough to keep speaking uncomfortable, until we reached a small bushy area. I knelt down and brushed through the bushes until I spotted my goal. "Here it is." I reached down and grabbed a couple of the small white plants. They were covered in a hard white shell. I bit one in half gently and turned to Koray. "This might sting a little." I reached over to Koray's bit wound and holding the broken plant, I quickly turned it over, pouring the sand like substance inside, into the bite wound. "Hold still." I then proceeded to push the plant dust into the wounds. "There, that should do it." I mentioned before seeing a slightly startled expression on Koray's face. "Sorry, I didn't explain. This plant is called Ectearii. It is a capsule-like plant. The seeds that it holds inside the bulb are able to absorb toxic materials from the blood stream. In a way, it is like a sponge for venom. Most people never even notice the plant."

Surprised at the creatures gentleness I found myself trusting him a little, but I didn't want to trust him to much though. Feeling a little bit relieved that something might help the wound, I let him do whatever, even though I had no idea what the plant was. Then he told me, I'll have to keep that in mind for next time, if I ever get bitten. I doubt there will be a next time though, I will just have to watch closely so the ground when I walk. I still didn't get an answer from this guy. What is this guys name?! What brang him here?! I sat there staring.

I finished fixing the creatures wound and waited for a moment. I didn't quite have a plan or anything. Koray was just staring at me as well, so... "Do you know how to get out of this desert?" I blurted out. 'God! That just really felt special needs.' I thought to myself right after. 'I definitely need to work on my people skills...' I looked at the creature hopefully. Even if I did sound stupid, the question was out there, and I was dying to know the answer.

I looked at the creature annoyingly. "I've asked you twice, whats your name." I said, staring at him, not trying to be rude though. "No offense, thank you for helping me but whats your name? Also what brings you to the desert?" I said. "I don't really know how to get out of this desert. I would just suggest going the way I came?" I admitted in a question. I felt bad for this guy, but there wasn't really anything I could do. I frowned in understanding. "Maybe we could help each other."

"Dom." I said suddenly. "My name is Dom." It was if I had said that for the very first time...
"And as to why I'm here," I momentarily hesitated. I should be better at this by now, but its been a long while and now I'm out of practice. "I came with a friend. We were driving through when there was an accident. At the time I was asleep and by the time I awoke, he had died." I responded.
"Anyways, it's been a long while since that. Now I just want to get out of here. If you don't know the way, how can you help? And what do you want me for?" I questioned changing the topic.

I sighed in disbelief, yes this stranger helped me but obviously didn't listen very well. "I see. I said maybe we could help eachother. I could care less if I am alone or not." I empathized on the word eachother. Realizing the the creature obviously wanted to be alone, I turned around and started walking. I don't know where I was going but I didn't care at this point., I just wanted to get to my next destination, wherever it was. Hopefully a forest or something like that.

'Damn, was I too aggressive?' I ran towards her, "Sorry. It's been a long time since I spoke with someone. I guess what I meant was; What direction did you originally come from? And is that where you are headed?" My god, talking had gotten overrated very quickly. It was never my best quality, and now more than ever, it seemed like I kept saying all the wrong things.
