Somewhere in the midst of the Wilt'no desert lies a small town nestled in the shadow of a great ancient ruin. Unbeknownst to the occupants, however, today the ruins did not cast the only shadow on their town. Almost invisible to the eye of mere mortals, a woman of incomprehensible size lounged upon the ruins as though they were a seat made just for her.

It was not as though she were invisible, only that her very existence in this state was incompatible with small minds. The subconscious of most ordinary species merely glazed over the space in which she occupied.

She squinted up at the sun for a moment before turning her gaze toward the town. Her features were indeterminate but for her eyes, a reddish screen behind which entire galaxies seemed to form and collide.

The woman watched the people below, focusing on each individual without noting or even recognizing their individuality. She was curious about the lives of ordinary little mortals in the great pattern of things. The big picture was easy to see. She knew the plan for every star in every galaxy, but what never ceased to fascinate her was the complexity of all the little things.

At this moment, in this one single town on a little world, she could already see how the choices and actions of individuals was affecting other living creatures. She could even see patterns so clear they could almost be tangible, connecting each decision with consequences that changed the fate of random mortals on other continents, and even their world itself.

Experimentally, she shifted her foot, sending a single stone falling off the ruins. It fell harmlessly to the ground, but a man walking by failed to swerve and tripped over it. It was a small incident, he never hit the ground and was otherwise unhurt. A moment so inconsequential to his life that he'd likely forget about before he even reached his destination

But to the great being upon the ruins, that singular moment had far more effect than any mortal could comprehend. She watched the ripples in the fate of these mortals on this world, her eyes looking beyond what anyone could physically see.
